(Chapter 39) Figerland's and stranded child
{God Valley}
Saint Garling is one of the final members of the dying-out Figerland family, Being the unrivalled champions of God Valley they ruled over the land
They were regarded as one of the most royal bloodlines of the Tenryubito they guarded god valley otherwise known as the Kamigami no Dendo
The island is one of the biggest in the world being rivalled only by Alabasta and Wano, It was a place that few people ever visited due to the sheer importance it held
Every decade a festival would be held on the island inviting only the most powerful people on the face of the planet
It would decide on the next Rulers of the island but ever since the founding of the island the Figerland family had won every single one as they were one of the only world nobles who trained and became stronger
They also refused to wear the space suits the other families wore, stating that the air on god valley had made them resistant to the air those commoners breathed in
On The top mountainous region of the island stood a giant palace where the family resided, A old man walked down the hallway as he passed sculptures of the past champions of the family who also had the same hairstyle
The man's hair was grey from age but he still held some of the red strands of hair the family was known for, He also wore a red gown that went down to his feat
The man also carried a very beautiful-looking sword that was decorated with gems and gold across its sheath and hilt
He soon reached the door of the throne room as two guards opened the door bowing at a perfect 90° angle before closing the door behind him
He looked up the staircase to see his successor his one and only son Saint Figerland Carrid as the man spoke 'It's good to see you father'
The old man nodded before stopping right in front of the staircase, The younger man who also sported the same hairstyle came down and gave his father a hug
The old man reciprocated the gesture and they soon let go of the embrace, The younger man had bright red hair and also wore the same garb as his father but the only notable difference was the necklace that hung from his neck
The Necklace was made of pure platinum and had a bright red gem as a pendant that dangled at the bottom, 'It's good to see your doing well boy, Has your training been fruitful?'
The younger man nodded before putting a hand on his own blade, It was a saber that had a golden guard that was connected to the hilt and it's handle was a light shade of green
'Good to hear, The Dragon festival is in 4 more years and I don't expect for this family to have it's first loss in over 800 years' Said the man before chuckling
Carrid chuckled before asking his father, 'Has Homing left Marijoa? And if so did you ask them for residency on the island?' The old man sighed before shaking his head 'Yes they have indeed left the Holy land but I was not able to come in contact with them, I fear what will happen to them including the two children they have with them'
The younger man just shook his head before sighing, 'Oh well if you do ever find out where they are do inform me, That old homing's heart is too soft for this cruel world I just hope he's alright'
Darling just chuckled before changing the subject, 'How is your wife and daughter doing?' As the younger man smiled being reminded of his beautiful wife and daughter
'Elizabeth and Roxanne have been doing well but I fear for Girl's health, Roxanne has gotten a big sweet tooth that has been growing ever larger by the day as she asks for even more delicious pastries but I can't say no to her' The man sighed as he smiled nostalgically
'Yahahaha! She reminds me a lot like you when you were younger, I bet you had an even bigger sweet tooth than her always asking for the biggest cakes on your birthdays'
The younger man just smiled sheepishly before his face became more serious, 'I heard that the Masayoshi has left Marineford and was heading to the New World, Do you have any idea of what's going on?'
The old man's face turned grim before nodding, 'That's what I came here to talk about, The Rocks pirates have been growing ever larger as they are currently at the power of the old Draconic Pirates that tried to start a revolution' the red-haired man's eyebrows furrowed as he could still recall the old articles of those monsters
'I feel better knowing that the Masayoshi is going after the pirates but I'm not sure if it will be enough to take down the Captain, I have heard that he ate the dark-dark fruit which is considered one of the most powerful in the world' He said
'Don't be ridiculous! Our family has put tremendous effort into building that ship of course it will be able to defeat one lousy pirate with some fancy devil fruit besides it has that ancient weapon built into it' The younger man's eyes widened before a smile plastered itself onto his face
'Ah then it looks like we aren't going to cancel the festival after all' As the old man raised an eyebrow looking at his successor
'What? Are you scared you're going to lose?' The younger man just paled before stammering a bit
'Of course not who do you think I am some lousy run-of-the-mill tentyubito?!' He said as the old man laughed at his expense

{Calm belt}
The Oro-Jackson steadily made its way across the calm belt as most of the crew members were in the lower levels of the ship using giant built-in paddles under the ship used to cross one of the largest sea king nests in the world
Jacksonbanner steered the ship while 8 other members of the crew mainly the heavy lifters like Yamon, Spencer, Mugren, Taro, Langram, Nozudon, Donkino and Max all took turns four at a time to paddle the ship
Meanwhile, on the deck of the ship, Ryu was being blindfolded while the rest of the crew surrounded him taking turns throwing pebbles towards him
He usually dodged most of the throws while being hit occasionally whenever he got too carried away, He would also use a wooden sword to block and deflect the ones he couldn't dodge while trying to sense his surroundings using his newfound observation's haki
They learned early on that the kid had a knack for using observation's haki so they mainly trained on using it while also having fun placing bets on who can land a solid hit on the kid using the pebbles
Ryu dodged a few of Gaban's throws while weaving in the air as he spun around sensing that something was coming before Roger even grabbed his pebble as the man widened his eyes, He soon grinned before throwing the pebble towards the kid only for him to jump in the air
The second he did so Rayleigh flung a pebble right to the boy's head only for it to be swiped out of the air by the wooden sword only then for the boy to get hit from behind by Roger's own pebble
Everyone sighed before placing some belly notes into the straw hat that the man placed in front of him as he laughed
'Good job kid I didn't expect ya to unlock observations haki so quickly' He said before stuffing the cash into his pockets
Gaban smiled before it soon faded away as he looked out towards the ocean spotting a small rowboat sinking not too far away from them as he pointed it out
'Oi Captain we got a problem here!' Roger soon stood up looking towards where the man was pointing before he stopped smiling
Ryu took off his blindfold as he looked on towards the sinking boat as Roger took off his favourite pink shirt, He soon dove into the water uncaring of the sea king infested waters as he swimmer towards the sinking boat
He soon spotted a boy not too much older than their newest member as he grabbed the kid before he started swimming back towards the ship
But as he was halfway there did a massive reptilian-looking sea king emerge out of the water ready as it opened its jaws wide enough to swallow the entire ship
Soon two air slashes split the sea king's mouth in half as its upper face slid off its jaw as blood gushed out of its bleeding head
Soon sea kings of various size and species started surrounding the body as they fed on the now-deceased reptilian sea king while Roger was helped up by Rayleigh and Gaban
'Oi is the kid alright?!' asked Gaban before looking at the malnourished kid in his captain's arms
The boy had dirty blonde hair that was swept back and formed a long spiky ponytail, The kid also wore what looked to be headphones and had a black leather vest with dark cargo pants
Crocus soon sighed before taking a look at the kid, 'The kid is starving, He's also suffering from scurvy of all things, Luckily you spotted the kid otherwise he would have been sea king lunch before dying from his sickness' He soon grabbed the kid before walking into his office
Ryu just looked on with worry as he saw the newcomer being taken away, He could still remember how starvation felt like "I hope he's ok, How did he end up in the middle of the calm belt of all places"
