15 Sunrise

Damon chopped down a big branch from a tree and brought it back to his house, all the while vigilantly looking around seemingly searching for someone, 'Thank god, he is not around…'

Ever since the monster hunt, Natsu had constantly asked him to do that trick and help him beat Erza, he didn't have any peace these past few days because of that. Natsu would instantly sniff him out when he approached the guild and find him, he would then start to talk about some nonsense first then go on about the same request…

Damon gave himself a pat on the back for his quick thinking, he couldn't imagine the annoyance if Natsu got his hands on his spare house keys… He had retrieved them from Mirajane thankfully.

It's not that he didn't want to see if Natsu could beat Erza with his magic as support, rather, he didn't want Erza to lose. No one would be able to control the fire dragon slayer if that happened, only chaos would await the guild…

Whether he liked it or not, his peace was dependent on this so he avoided Natsu as much as possible. But that was not all, he was busy with something important.

After the monster hunt, he had become curious to see if he could change his style and make use of his fire magic. He had a warrior build with steel Zangetsu and the enchants, and a good enough ranged attack but that was not enough. He certainly couldn't beat the monster like that. He needed a super destructive style of combat as well and he had just gotten an idea from the last job.

That was why he decided to make use of the original Damon's fire magic.

Damon had found a cheat to get strong really fast, and at the center of it was the oxygen enchant. If he could cast fire magic in an area with 90% oxygen, his spells would be super destructive and he would barely need any magic power to cast average spells. But of course, if the enemy was a fire mage, it would become a problem so he had to keep that in mind.

This was all thanks to him deciding to experiment, which solidified his resolve to do more experiments in the future, who knew? Maybe the way of Magitech was his path of power.

That brings us to the current situation, he had gotten his hands on the branch for a very important thing, he wanted to make a staff! It was crucial for the new style he had in mind, he had already decided to name his warrior style from before 'Slayer' and this new destructive style that he had in mind 'Mage King'.

Damon quickly entered his house as if he was a thief and locked the door, he sighed in relief, 'Thank god that guy is not around, maybe he got tired of waiting here and went to search somewh…'

His train of thought was interrupted by a cheerful voice, "Ah, Hey! Man, you have no food in your house, it's just like mine. HAHAHA!"

The annoying laughter of Natsu made his mood turn gloomy, "How did you get in here?" He tried to control his annoyance.

Natsu didn't seem to care as he made himself comfortable on the couch, "The window was open… Anyway, I want to challenge Erza soon, do me a favor…"

As Damon thought about what to do, he saw Happy approach his Enchanting Table, he quickly grabbed the cat, "Hey!"

He sighed, 'This guy won't give up… I have to deal with this right now… But how?'

Happy tried to get out of his hand and struggled, Damon simply pet the cat's head and Happy stopped, seemingly enjoying it. He suddenly stopped as an idea came to him.

"Natsu, How about this? You and I fight in 3 days, if I win you give up but if you win, I will help you out." Damon had an encouraging smile as he finished that sentence.

Natsu felt something was off but he didn't really care, he was excited to fight and was confident so he smiled, "Deal! Cya!" He quickly climbed the stairs and jumped out of the window, Damon let go of happy and the cat followed him, "Wait!"

Damon facepalmed, 'Why did they build doors then…' He felt some sympathy for Lucy, he had yet to meet her but having unexpected guests waiting for you at the house was not something he liked. It was as if he was a guest in his own house…

He let it go instead, he began thinking about the fight.

Damon knew his new toys would be ready by the time of the fight, what better way to test them than on a target like Natsu? He could always switch in the fight to his Slayer style if needed. Since Natsu was a fire mage, he was the worst enemy to test on but Damon didn't want to defeat him, he knew Natsu was immune to fire so… Yeah, he was the best target practice.

'I better make sure the windows are closed from now on, anyway, better focus on this.' He quickly focused on the task at hand.

He sat in front of his enchanting table, he worked on the wood till it was late at night, it slowly transformed into a very simple wooden staff that was 1.5 meters long. He made it that way because he wanted to move it around a lot so if it became too long, he would use mobility.

He then proceeded to hollow its inside, he had a very interesting idea to test. That idea had cost him almost all the money he had made on the monster hunt job, it was a Lacrima.

This Lacrima seemed tailor-made for the hollow part of the would-be staff as if it was made to fill it. Damon had specifically ordered it like that from a local magic shop.

'Since my magic power is not that strong, I should create a magic item with its own reserve, if I enchant it with Recharge and make it like a battery, it will have a huge impact on my magic power consumption.' He had reasoned before buying it.

He even wanted to buy one to fill the inside of steel Zangetsu but he didn't have enough money. He could already see himself firing many Getsuga-like magic attacks with the Blast enchant while his magic power was not affected.

As long as there is a will, there is a way. Damon had already found some ways to overcome his weak magic power but he knew that it was no excuse to slack off. He needed more magic power to cast higher-level enchants.

Unfortunately, the only way he knew how to increase his magic power was the way Erza told him and that was to treat it as some sort of muscle. He had tried it, after exhausting his magic power and letting it refill a few times, he felt a little stronger but it was way too inefficient, he knew it would take a few years for him to reach S-class level. He didn't have that long, the enemies were coming. From Dark guilds to demons and Acnologia. He could only hope that he would find a way…

Damon worked on the staff without rest, carved the enchants he had in mind, fixed the Lacrima inside, and prepared himself. The staff had transformed a lot, it looked quite pleasing to the eye with mysterious symbols and runes carved on it.

He began using his magic on the staff. He glowed in a light orange hue along with the staff and the runes.

"Alter Enchant, Flight, level 2." This Enchant was similar to the one on Zangetsu, it worked with gravity but instead of the item, it affected Damon and anything he had on him. With it, he could fly. He needed this because he was not a fan of getting burnt in his own attacks, Also, the advantage one would have from the sky was not something to be taken lightly, especially a fire mage.

"Alter Enchant, Fire Control, level 2." With this, he would get the ability to channel his fire magic through the staff and gain much better control and efficiency in casting.

"Alter Enchant, Recharge, level 2." To charge the Lacrima.

"Alter Enchant, Magic Battery, level 2." With this, he could treat the Lacrima like a battery and cast spells with the help of the magic inside.

And finally.

"Alter Enchant, Oxygen Area Manipulation, level 2." This was the most difficult Enchant as it needed all the knowledge he had and many symbols and runes to work. It would help him set up an area that had almost 99% oxygen as air, the area was a sphere with a diameter of 8 meters, the staff as its center.

The staff had more than enough surface for all the enchants.

He looked at his new item with a smile, he was very satisfied.

'Now I need a mask to help with the oxygen poisoning, like Kakashi's mask perhaps… No one can approach me because if they do and breathe near me in the area, hehe… The oxygen area acts as a form of defense against melee attackers. Very good.'

He imagined himself flying in the sky like a god and summoning countless fireballs like meteors upon his enemies, burning them to ash. Razing the entire world. He couldn't help but remember the scene of Madara Uchiha's fireballs descending upon the shinobi allied force.

"From now on, your name is Sunrise." He named his staff.

Just as he rejoiced, he noticed a problem.

'I can't carry around all this stuff, I need to master Requip magic since my path lies with items at the moment… I have to ask Erza to teach me. It's best if I buy a strawberry cake as an offering first… I will train with Sunrise later.' He thought and took the staff.

Erza went on missions regularly so if he missed the chance while she was in the guild, he had to wait a while so he put testing the staff aside to learn Requip magic.

He set off towards the cake shop and silently hoped to have a good affinity with Requip magic but he was not worried, at worst, he had to make some storage rings like the ones he had read on in cultivation novels...

Requip was better because he didn't need to worry about the items being stolen etc. As the rings could be damaged and stolen. Also, with Requip, he could directly change outfits and thus make many different types of enchanted clothes and armors that could be worn at will.

He realized something, 'Am I slowly turning into Erza? My fighting style is resembling hers...'
