16 Mage King Style

Damon's expression was slightly ugly as he frowned, he felt very discouraged.

On the side stood Erza Scarlet with an unsure face, after hesitating for a few moments she seemed to form the words she wanted to say, "Requip magic is not for everyone… You are a very talented warrior so don't feel discouraged. How about we eat something?"

Damon remained silent, brooding. No matter what he did, he couldn't make a Requip space which meant he had 0 talent for this type of magic and by extension, most spatial magic…

Erza saw how he was brooding after he had been so excited to learn Requip magic, she felt sorry for him. And since he had bought her a cake, she felt like she needed to pay him back so she grabbed his hand forcefully and dragged him in a direction.

Damon wasn't in the mood to resist so he just let her do what she wanted.

His path to switch styles of fighting mid-combat had become much harder without being able to learn Requip magic.

They stopped in front of an ice cream shop and Erza bought 2. She said as she shoved the ice cream in front of his face, "Eat."

Damon sighed and took it, after tasting it, he calmed down a little, 'I have to make an item that copies Requip magic… Somehow…' It was harder than it looked, especially changing items in the middle of combat.

When he thought about it a little, his head began hurting. It wasn't like usual enchants. He had to make some sort of 3D GPS to track his body and then have the items appear around it, it needed a lot of calculation in every Requip with his magic.

For most of his Enchants, he was copy-pasting already existing runes and symbols along with magic circles which he had studied to achieve what he wanted, it wasn't hard. For example, all he had to do to make the Area oxygen was to make two combined runes of wind magic and fire magic to repel certain parts of air that didn't ignite, and what would remain was mostly oxygen; A few common runes to set up the area and stability and it was complete. It was more complicated on the staff but that was the base of it.

And he could do that with the base of Requip magic which was making space to store items but the part where the items would appear was the problem.

For the mage with this kind of magic, it was easy, they directed it with their mind. Since he didn't have the magic, he couldn't do that and that part needed the calculations. He didn't want to summon his sword only for it to appear inside his body killing him.

He thought about linking his mind but that was even more difficult, he had to learn how the brain worked, and synching it was even more difficult, he had to well get a dozen Ph.D.'s concerning the brain to manage that. Or look for mind magic and the archives didn't have that, maybe he could in the future.

Magic was not simple at all.

He thought about making a computer, doing that with his Enchants was not impossible but the computer would be as big as magnolia if he tried, after all, Each enchants would be a transistor and making millions… He didn't dare think about that. Especially the magic power consumption, it would kill him or drain infinite money by using Lacrima.

'So many problems…'

He groaned inwardly, this world didn't have the infrastructure to make computers the normal way either. Even if he did make one, how the hell was he supposed to connect it with the magic. It was way too advanced for the current him to even think of.

He tasted some more ice cream and calmed down again, 'It seems I have to give up, a big storage bag should suffice.'

He turned to look at Erza as he decided to put the matter aside, he froze when he saw her. She was licking the ice cream in an unusually arousing way. She would even smugly nod to herself once in a while.

He observed in a daze till she finished eating, she seemed absorbed in her own world. Her red hair gently swayed with the wind and coupled with her beautiful face and the armor she was wearing, she appeared like a heroic princess.

Just as she finished eating, she turned to look at him and noticed his gaze on her and suddenly blushed, 'Why is he looking at me like that?'

Damon chuckled, "You are so cute when eating ice cream." He made an offhand remark and walked away, feeling a little better. Much better after seeing that.

He quickly came up with a plan to buy a Kakashi look-alike mask and a black cloak for some enchants to use in his Mage King style. He needed to let off some steam and the fight with Natsu made him feel excited.

Erza on the other hand was frozen on her spot as her face turned red, "C…Cute?!"

Damon bought what he was looking for as his money reserve reached rock bottom, it seemed he had to go on another job soon.

He first used a pen on the mask and then the cloak. He wanted to complete the Mage King style set. He knew that the basic Enchants on his clothes were too important, like basics that he needed to have no matter what he was doing. Who would let go of speed, durability, strength, and such?

So if he was going for a new style, he could only add on to that. Unless he found better materials for his base outfit.

A Cloak was the best option since he had a basic Heat resistance enchant on his long coat, he could even wear it in summer without feeling hot. It also completed the look of a badass magician.

He was finished after a while and began using his magic.

"Alter Enchant, Air Filter, Level 2." This enchant on the mask made the air he breathed filtered. He would inhale 21% oxygen etc. The ratio of natural air. This would even help in case someone released poison in the air. The only problem was that if there was only oxygen around him, where would the other elements come from?

That was when the 2nd Enchant came to play.

"Alter Enchant, Strong inhale, level 2." This would amplify his breathing ability, letting him inhale a lot of air and filter it with the other enchant.

He put the mask on and activated it, it worked perfectly and made him look mysterious with it on.

He put it aside and worked on the black cloak.

"Alter Enchant, Ether Conduct, level 2." This would make his body more efficient for Ethernano to move it which would help a lot with casting magic and using the staff. It would basically enhance his magic. It needed a lot of surface and complex runes to make this.

"Alter Enchant, Magic resistance, level 2." This was perhaps the most complicated Enchant he had, it needed lots of surface to write and that was why he couldn't do it on other items he had. The cloak had enough interior surface for him to make this with the other one. It was a very complex mashup of runes taken from a rare defensive-type caster magic that blocked magic spells. He had found it in the Archives by chance.

With it, he had both physical and magical resistance, unfortunately, his magic power wasn't strong enough to have it activated for long periods. And it couldn't block strong spells, he needed to upgrade its level for that.

The way to upgrade the level was rather simple, he had to merge more runes together to create a stronger effect, it would need more magic power and a bigger surface to write on though so he didn't do it. He also didn't have enough knowledge.

The higher level, the stronger the enchant and its effects.

He had theorized that he had to memorize the entire Guild Archives to reach level 5 in his magic enchants. He currently had memorized less than 10% of it. Not to mention the magic power required for a level 3 enchant was 90% of all he had. So he couldn't do level 4 enchants and above even if he had the knowledge.

The limits were quite problematic.

He put on the cloak, took Sunrise, and left his house. He was going to train a little with his new style. He felt just like a legendary mage from the stories he used to read. His cloak flowing with the wind as he held Sunrise tightly, drawing the looks of the people in the streets. His mood improved a lot and he smiled with excitement, 'I am going to fly and burn things...'

The Mage King Style was born, although it wasn't that amazing, it had the possibility of becoming something worthy of its name in time.
