11 The Justice League

"Thank you for coming, everyone, on such short notice. Batman and I have been assisting with rescue operations in Gotham since early this morning, so we've only just now got the time to host this meeting," Clark Kent, AKA Superman began to explain to the room full of superheroes. "Now, as he has the most information on the threat that destroyed the city, I'll let Batman have the floor."

The Hall of Justice was filled with assorted members of the prestigious superhero league, which included the likes of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, the Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Booster Gold, and many more. They had all assembled after hearing the terrible news of Gotham's senseless destruction, and were eager to help in any way that they could.

"Thank you," Batman stated flatly, his face serious and determined as he stood up to address the heroes. "At approximately 8:15 AM Gotham local time, an individual obliterated most of Gotham City with a single attack. This stranger arrived from another universe early last night, and Nightwing had been tracking him upon appearing in Gotham's streets. This individual proceeded to kill the Riddler, and shortly after, Nightwing himself, before I engaged him. He is a person of extreme power, although his exact morality I believe is tied to the Joker."

"That clown freak stole one of the artificial mother boxes that Star Labs was working on," Barry Allen, AKA the Flash, piped up as he raised his hand to speak. "He must have used the thing the start hopping between different realities and brought that guy back with him"

"Correct, and what the Joker was doing in that alternate universe is unknown, although I have a theory that the man he encountered was a superhero," Batman continued, holding up a remote to activate the conference room's large television screen. A snapshot of Saitama promptly popped up on it. "As you can see by his costume, he was probably a crime fighter where he was from, but the Joker was able to do something to him that altered his mind. During my encounter with him, he appeared calm during a fight, but the Joker's homicidal tendencies were quickly replacing his personality. He claimed that he was sprayed with some kind of gas."

"He looks kind of like Lex if he decided to be a hero," Superman remarked as he looked upon the yellow and white caped costume of the bald figure in the photo. "But Bruce, do we know just how dangerous this guy is yet?"

"He was able to effortlessly destroy a large metropolitan city…in one punch," Batman replied with a grim expression on his face. "A Wayne Enterprises satellite captured him throwing a single low-effort punch around 10 miles outside of Gotham. Not only that, but during my clash with him, I could tell that he intentionally holds back his true abilities. I theorize that despite his rather mundane appearance, he is far more powerful than he looks."

"Do you think that there's a way to bring him back?" Diana Prince, AKA Wonder Woman, asked as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Away from his insanity, I mean. You did say that you assume him to be a hero from his home dimension."

"I'm not sure, and as far as I'm concerned, he's just a tragic victim of the Joker," the Dark Knight continued, glancing down at the table. "But that being said, he needs to be subdued, because if he's able to crush a city in a single move, then the entire world might be in danger. I would prefer to take him in alive, but if it comes down to it…"

"I understand, Bruce, and we'll do everything that we can to neutralize this guy," Clark reassured him with a nod. "Many people have suffered tremendous loss today, including you. I mean, Dick was in his prime, his death will not go unavenged."

Suddenly, something caused many of the heroes, including the Flash, Superman, and Wonder Woman, to look up as if something had just caught their attention.

"Something extremely fast was just at the front of the Hall," Barry Allen explained, before vanishing from sight and returning in a near instant as his speed powers brought him to and from the front door in fractions of a second. "Huh, somebody left this box there."

"I just saw inside, it's not a weapon or anything," Superman added as he used his X-ray vision.

Shrugging, the Flash opened it up, only to grimace as he pulled out what looked like the skeleton of a large bird.

"There's a note taped to the side of it," Black Canary noted as she peeled a small piece of paper from the bones and began to read it aloud. "Dear Heroes: that green guy was super weak (and tasted bad), so can you please send me someone really strong to fight? I need a good laugh. I'll be at those really tall mountains called the hima-somethings. P.S, can you please send some fried chicken with whoever goes? HAHAHAHAHAHA"

"That's Beast Boy!" Cyborg exclaimed as he slammed his robotic fist down onto the table. "That sick bastard, I'll kill him! Send me!"

"Oh God!' Canary shrieked as she abruptly backed away from the bird corpse.

The Superheroes began to talk amongst themselves, with many of them volunteering to confront the man who so easily killed and consumed one of their own.

"Calm down, everyone, we need to go with the obvious choice to handle someone with such destructive power," Batman interrupted as he spoke over the furor of conversation, before turning to the red-caped man next to him. "Clark, would you…?"

"I'll be there in thirty seconds," Superman replied as he slipped a tiny, wireless communicator into his ear. "I'll be in touch. Wish me luck, I'll try to take him in alive."

With that, the man of steel flew over the conference room and sped over to the Hall of Justice's front door, where he promptly took to the skies upon exiting it and blasted into the heavens faster than a speeding bullet. Seconds later, the ocean sped by below Superman as he traversed several continents and made a B-line for the Himalayan mountain range.
