Reina sank into the couch next to her grandmother, Cornelia, her eyes filled with concern. "Did you visit the hospital?"
Cornelia waved her hand dismissively, a teasing smile tugging at her lips. "Cherry said she would come check up on me. You don't have to worry about me, Reina. I just wanted to talk. I've missed you so much."
Reina's heart softened, and she leaned in, pulling Cornelia into a warm hug. "Aww, Grandma, I missed you too." She pulled back, looking at Cornelia with a more serious expression. "How are you coping with it?"
Cornelia scoffed, rolling her eyes. "I don't have cancer, Reina. You worry too much." Then, her mood shifted, and she asked, "How's that brat?"
"Noah is fine, Grandma," Reina replied, chuckling. "He sends his greetings."
"I hate that boy's guts," Cornelia muttered, her face twisting in mock disdain.
Reina laughed, shaking her head. "He's so charming!"
"Whatever," Cornelia grumbled, though the corners of her mouth betrayed her amusement. "I hope you're living well."
"Mmhmm," Reina responded, her eyes softening.
"That's good to hear," Cornelia continued. "Take care of yourself, and that lucky boy."
Reina chuckled. "Will do. Okay, Grandma, what are you going to eat?"
Cornelia raised an eyebrow. "I can cook, you know."
Reina shook her head. "I know, but I don't want you to. I came to spend the day with you today. I'll make your favorite strawberry pie."
"You spoil me too much," Cornelia said, her voice soft with affection.
"You deserve it," Reina replied with a wink, heading to the kitchen.
At the hospital, Cherilyn, entered Mr. Joe's room with a kind smile. "Good afternoon, Mr. Joe. How are you feeling today?"
Mr. Joe looked up at her, confusion in his eyes. "I'm not sure, miss. Can you remind me of your name?"
Cherry nodded gently. "Of course. I'm Dr. Cherilyn, but you can call me Cherry. I'm one of the interns here. I wanted to talk to you about your health today."
"My health? What's wrong?" he asked, his voice tinged with worry.
"Well, Mr. Joe, we just want to make sure you're staying healthy. It's important to eat well, take your medications, and get some exercise," Cherry explained.
"Medications?" Mr. Joe's brow furrowed. "I can't remember all those pills."
Cherry offered a sympathetic smile. "I understand. It can be confusing. Try keeping a list or a chart to help you remember. And don't hesitate to ask your family for assistance."
"Family," Mr. Joe repeated softly. "Yes, they help me a lot."
"That's great to hear," Cherry said. "Also, don't forget to stay hydrated and eat regular, balanced meals. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out."
"Thank you, Dr. Che. I'll do my best," he said, a small smile forming on his lips.
"It's Cherilyn," she corrected with a chuckle, but her expression softened. "You're welcome, Mr. Joe. We're here to help you stay as healthy as possible."
Sidney was rearranging shoes in Frank's shop when Watt entered, looking around.
"Hi, Sidney. Where's Mr. Frank?" Watt asked.
Sidney glanced up from her task. "He went to deliver shoes in the fifth block."
"Okay... What about Cherry?" Watt asked, curious.
"She's at the hospital," Sidney replied simply, her tone neutral.
"Alright, thanks. Tell your dad I stopped by," Watt said, nodding as he turned to leave.
Sidney watched him go, then sighed. "Hey, wait! You didn't buy anything..." She trailed off, but the sound of her phone ringing interrupted her thoughts.
She answered quickly, "Hello? Yes, this is Frank's shoe shop. How can we help you? Okay, thanks," she said, hanging up. Then she mumbled, "Where's Dad? An order just came in..."
Noah burst through the door of Ava's boutique, grinning widely. "If it isn't the queen of fashion, the empress of designs, and the duchess of chic!"
Ava raised an eyebrow, barely looking up from her work. "Mm-hmm. Welcome to Ava's boutique. What are you buying? We also sell online if you prefer to shop that way."
"I wish to shop physically," Noah replied, his eyes scanning the boutique.
Ava chuckled, glancing at him. "How you doing? Where's my sister-in-law? I have a dress for her for Valentine's Day."
Noah blinked, momentarily confused. "When is Valentine?"
Ava stared at him in disbelief. "Hello? Are you okay? You're kidding, right? Sit down, Noah. You need a brief lesson."
Noah sighed dramatically and slumped into a chair. "Now I've got two teachers in two days. Lay it on me, Teacher Two."
Ava crossed her arms and gave him a deadpan stare. "Today is Valentine's Day."
Noah's eyes widened. "What? Where's my phone? I haven't called Reina. I haven't wished her. I don't have any gift for her. I'm such a bad husband!"
Ava burst into laughter. "You ponder over that one," she teased.
"Why are you laughing? Why aren't you helping me out?" Noah exclaimed. "Wait... today isn't Valentine's Day, is it?"
Ava gave him a sly smile. "You still got it. Bro, take it easy, but don't take it easy."
Noah groaned. "I hate it when you try to give advice that doesn't make sense. Sis, not everyone is good at giving motivation."
Ava shot him a mock glare. "Jerk."
Noah chuckled. "Bittersweet truth."
"What are you buying, Noah? Don't tell me you came here just to waste my precious time. It's better you start shopping for Valentine."
"No, I'm just trying to figure out when Valentine is," Noah grumbled. "When is Valentine?"
Ava sighed in mock exasperation. "October twenty-first."
"Got it. Thanks," Noah said, turning toward the door.
"No problem. Idiot," Ava muttered with a grin.
"Vampire," Noah called over his shoulder, laughing.
"Blood-sucking fun killer," Ava shot back, but her smile was impossible to hide. "Love you too."
Back at the hospital, Dr. Smith addressed the group of interns, standing tall at the front of the conference room. "Good afternoon, everyone."
"Good afternoon, Dr. Smith," the interns responded in unison.
"Today, I'll be assigning you to surgical teams for your first surgeries as interns. There will be five teams, each with two interns. This is a valuable learning opportunity, so pay close attention."
The assignments began. "Jack and Chloe, team one. You'll be performing an appendectomy. Dr. Martinez will be your supervisor."
"We're ready, Dr. Smith," Jack and Chloe said confidently.
"Billy and Charlotte, team two. It's a cholecystectomy for you. Dr. Johnson will be your supervisor."
"We're looking forward to it," Billy and Charlotte said together.
"Henry and Cherilyn, team three. You'll be doing an orthopedic fracture repair. Dr. Rodriguez will be your supervisor."
"This is a fantastic opportunity," Henry said, his voice full of enthusiasm.
"Gideon and Cole, team four. You'll be handling hernia repair surgeries. Dr. Lee will be supervising you."
"We won't let you down," Gideon and Cole answered in unison.
"Miles and Jamie, team five. You're doing a cesarean section today. Dr. Turner will be your supervisor."
"We can't wait to learn," Miles and Jamie said eagerly.
"Alright," Dr. Smith said, nodding with approval. "Class dismissed. Let's get to work."
