Also, this world can be considered an AU. I tried to add it to the tag but I couldn't find it so I have just mentioned it in the synopsis.

After the last conversation they last had the travels had become quite awkward. Shizu couldn't say anything and Ryuu also didn't speak as he was in no mood to.
Though Ryuu didn't let Shizu fight in any shape or form as he had seen her current condition. She is quite unstable currently and if she engages in any form of long-term combat Ifrit will take over her body for some time.
Ryuu was angry about that is a fact but the main reason he wasn't speaking was because of the fact that he was thinking of a way to rid Shizu of her problem with the spirit.
This situation is quite different from the kids as she has been with her spirit for several decades. Due to this, it is not easy to remove the spirit without harming Shizu.
However, if Ryuu had a skill like Gluttony or any of its variants he could have easily handled this situation.
But alas he doesn't any there is no reason to waste time thinking about unlikely situations.
Then there is another problem that Ryuu has to face and that is her mental state which is quite suicidal.
From the talk they had before Ryuu had realized that Shizu was going to the S-rank dungeon to die. Something had happened in the time they had separated that had taken a huge toll on her already weak mental condition of Ryuu.
Her suicidal thought is also one of the many or let's say the biggest reason that Ryuu is angry with her.
After traveling for some time longer they spotted a river and traveled toward its direction to rest for a while as they had been traveling for six hours since their last rest and night is almost upon them.
"We should set up a camp here. Shizu san have you bought your camping equipment." Ryuu spoke breaking their hour-long silence.
"A..Ah yes" Shizu spoke breaking out of her thoughts.
Ryuu could sense guilt and sadness in Shizu's eyes it seemed this silence had taken quite a toll on her.
Sensing that Ryuu also felt guilt and sadness and was about to comfort her but stopped. During their travel, Ryuu had made a plan to solve this problem, and the situation they currently have is a part of it.
If not for that Ryuu would have comforted and talked to her some time ago. After all, he knows being angry and moody won't solve anything.
As Shizu gave her reply Ryuu started to build his own tent at a very quick pace. Finishing it within a minute he built a campfire and started to take out food ingredients from his inventory.
With the precision of a seasoned chief, he started to cook the food. A flavourful and mouth-watering smell is permitted throughout the surroundings.
Shizu just stared at the scene in complete silence with thousands of thoughts flowing through her head.
She finally closed her eyes and gave a big sigh, collecting all of her thoughts she opened her eyes and looked at Ryuu with a determined eye.
"Shizu san the food is ready," Ryuu spoke while putting some brothy soup filled with meat and vegetables in a bowl he just took out from his inventory.
"Yes, Ryuu I am coming." Shizu spoke without losing her determined eyes and went toward the direction of Ryuu.
She sat next to Ryuu and he handed her a bowl of the soup which she took.
Ryuu started to enjoy the food and Shizu also took a sip of the broth. As she did the heavenly taste coated her mouth, she remembered the days she had traveled with Ryuu previously.
A smile came upon her face as she remembered those times.
"It is as good as always," Shizu spoke while looking at her bowl. Ryuu didn't give a reply but stopped eating.
"Hey, Ryuu care to hear a story," Shizu asked while looking at Ryuu's face who was sitting right next to her.
"I am all ears," Ryuu replied while looking into a determined eye.
"Then let me narrate you the story."
....
A city was covered in flames as explosions could be heard from every direction. People's shouts and pleas for help could be heard echoing throughout the now-burning city. Fighter planes were dropping bombs nonstop not caring for the lives lost due to them.
"Mommyyyyyyy"
A small girl shouted while running through the now-burning city. Some parts of her clothes were burned and small wounds could be seen throughout her body.
"Here" Another woman's voice was heard from the distance.
The small hearing the voice quickly ran toward her direction but Fate was cruel as the woman who just shouted was hit by a bomb from above killing her.
"Noooooooo Mommyyyyyyyyyyy" The little girl cried while still running toward the direction where the woman used to be.
But as she was running fire started to surround her and before she could even realize she was in the middle of a fire tornado.
But just as suddenly was the tornado created it also disappeared leaving nothing behind in the world even the little girl.
The girl who was covered by the flames opened her eyes and was in an unfamiliar place. In front of her eyes was a man with bright gold hair and a handsome face. He was wearing clothes that were befitting that of a king and he looked at her with cold eyes.
"Another failure." The man spoke but due to the girl's fear, she wasn't able to hear it properly.
The girl who now had half of her upper body burned looked at the man with fear in her eyes.
The man broke his eye contact with the girl and put his hands out. As he did so a red circle was created and from it, a man or demon made of flame was created.
The blond-haired man pointed his fingers at the girl and before she could even react the flame spirit entered her body covering her body in flames.
But weirdly she didn't feel any pain and the wounds in her body started to disappear. Now there was only a small burn mark remaining under her eyes but other wounds were healed.
As she was about to question the man a feather flew inside the building. As she looked at the feather it turned into a humanoid monster with parrot and monkey-like features.
"Demon Lord Leon Cromwell get your neck washed as I have come to collect it." The monster spoke.
The man named Leon looked at the monster with disdain and just said one word.
"Ifrit"
As he said that he started to walk out of the room.
"Youuuuuuu" The monster shouted while pointing its feather-shaped blade at Leon.
As the girl was wondering what was happening she felt something form inside of her coming out.
She lost control of her body and her eyes turned red she was covered with flames as she stood up.
As the monster turned around to see what was happening the girl pointed her hands at the monster and it was covered by flames.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" The monster shouted but it yielded nothing as it was burned to a crisp.
The girl's eyes returned back to normal and the flame surrounding her disappeared. She fell to the ground and looked at the burning monster with fear in her eyes.
"Come Here," Leon said from the entrance of the room.
The girl timidly walked toward his direction with fear evident in her eyes.
"What is your name," Leon asked with his cold voice.
"S..Shi..Shizue Izawa" The girl replied.
"Your name for now on will be Shizu," Leon said and walked away.
"Shizu" The girl muttered.
(A/N: Sorry for the slow chapter update as writing this type of chapter is taking me longer than I thought it would take. Also if you know her back story you will notice some minor changes and it is intentional so no need to correct me. Hope you enjoyed this chapter and see you in the next one.)
