The End of a World

The world was about to change forever.

The skies shone in an iridescent and rainbow-colored light, the ground cracked and expanded, and the oceans flooded all at once.

After only a few short moments, a new spirit seemed to awaken in the planet as a surge of energy traversed from the gigantic dimensional tear.

Along with the spiritual energy came asteroids and bits of foreign material with smoke rising from them.

With the mystical changes however came catastrophic damages to the life of those when buildings came crashing down falling into ravines as they formed and filled at terrifying speeds as if there was nothing there to begin with.

The planet had grown almost double in size until it ceased all action.

Yes. This was indeed the World Rebirth.

To explain the process behind the event, the spiritual energy that came from the dimensional tear were absorbed into the planet through a process called 'revitalization'.

Due to the nonexistent spiritual energy in the whole solar system, the introduction of the raw energy was pulled towards the nearest empty vessel i.e., Null's home planet.

What this spiritual energy would normally cause over the course of millions upon millions of years happened in an instant, only this begged the question of how much energy was released from beyond.

The answer: way more than enough to do something mind-blowing.

As the planet halted its growth, the abundance of energy would begin causing a second transformation— the creation of a new spirit.

'Great. I wish for something one time and the freaking apocalypse happens?'

Null started freaking out when he realized what was happening to the very planet itself.

However, his shock swiftly morphed into terror.

For some reason, he knew that something was coming.

And soon.

'What can I do to save us,' he took a glance at the people around him still staring blankly outside, struggling to comprehend what was occurring.

The eerie feeling grew stronger with every second that passed, however what could he do to stop it; he was powerless before the feeling. As it grew and grew, so did his heart rate, and then his breathing, until finally he freaked out.

"Everybody! Follow me!" He began bolting out of the room, "NOOOOOW!"

Snapping out of their dazes, those of the class could only see Null's figure sprinting out of the door and into the hallway.

Sofina immediately followed after, prompting Mr. Zolial to order the class, "Quickly! I won't hesitate to leave some sniffling babies behind in order to get that date!"

He turned and grabbed Ms. Florie's arm and bolted out of the room, leaving the remainder of the group to stare in awe of his shamelessness.

Unbeknownst to them, ever since Mr. Zolial was hired as an instructor, he could not go a day without thinking about her.

As a young, bold man he immediately sought a connection with her, and they became close friends.

Indeed, at the time she was in a relationship going on two years!

However, with good faith– and a little bit of drunk driving– Mr. Zolial had finally arrived at a chance to have Ms. Florie for his own after four years.

Four years!

He sincerely comforted her after the death of her boyfriend, he didn't want to be the kind of guy who preyed on people going through the worst, so for two years, he and Ms. Florie remained friends.

But Mr. Zolial hadn't even bothered to keep track of the time.

His gentlemanly persistence allowed him to remain in close proximity to Ms. Florie's endeavors throughout the course of his soul-crushing abstinence.

Yes, that's right.

Instead of meeting other people and seeking other romantic partners, Zolial was the kind of man who sought to settle down with the right woman; he couldn't care less about family, friends, or wealth.

When he had steeled himself for the long haul, his family looked at him with disappointment, his friends deemed him a simp and abandoned him, and his wallet echoed with a devilish laughter.

Every time he considered giving up on his true love, he always thought back to his first interaction with Ms. Florie.

---

"Ah! You must be the new instructor." A chirpy voice entered his ears as smoothly and sweetly as golden honey.

When the young Zolial turned around, the view of a youthful blonde with the most captivating smile graced his sight. Her waist-length locks threatened to drown him in all of their unconfined majesty.

One mere glimpse of the woman in front of him had almost brought him to his knees in worship.

Almost.

"That would be me, yes," he flashed a perfect smile that had been reconstructed in front of a mirror on countless more occasions than he would admit to.

"Well look at you. With a face like yours, the girls here are in for a treat. All of the male instructors here are as old as my father."

Her slight giggle rang like wedding bells in the young man's head, echoing on and on for what seemed to him as decades.

"Well with a face like yours, the boys here must have a whole shrine dedicated in your honor," he joked, unsure of why her face had suddenly gone blank.

"Well, it seems like somebody has already toured the campus," she eyed him with those same hazel eyes.

"No way." He was stunned by the meaning behind her words.

As it turned out, there was an actual shrine encased by glass in the commons area decorated with flower arrangements, a framed picture and everything.

Truly magnificent.

'Who even allowed this?'

Baffled by the absurdity of the display, Zolial was stuck tongue-tied.

Meanwhile in the principal's office, "Achoo!"

A bald man sat back in his chair with a content smile upon his face.

"That's right, witness my contributions to worship her holiness. So worth it," he laughed to himself before taking some allergy pills.

---

'So, what if the world is coming to an end. I'll end it myself if that's what it takes to be happy together with Evangeline.'

And so, he steeled himself further, knowing that if he made one wrong move, his time would have been wasted.

What of the students huddled together beneath the desks, sobbing and shaking in fear, the survivors of this catastrophic event, or even his pet gecko, Ash, at home?

They would all have to wait until both he and his date made it out alive.

In any ordinary circumstance, it was most logical to remain in shelter, but sensing the urgency of the situation, Zolial figured that the loner kid wouldn't get himself killed, right?

Only time would tell at this point, and it wasn't like there was much of it to waste when the whole building started trembling.

Of course, the feeble academy could not withstand the consequences of the planet's growth.

A few of the remaining kids stopped their crying and took to the hallways with the rest.

Unfortunately for the ones still in panic mode, the time had finally arrived when the building begun collapsing around them, sealing their fates.

A giant rift opened up beneath the entire premises, tearing down the whole campus and all within.

All except for the survivors of Classroom 705.
