Chapter*Four:He Feng

Devanie's POV

____________________________________________________

"Can you believe him? He's such a douche."

Kani laughed like it was the most funniest thing she had ever heard. Safari just shook her head disappointed. I was on a 3 way face time call with my sisters. I missed having them around. Nowadays it's just Samantha and I, having her around is fun and all but the house used to be way lighter.

"I forget that your literally a walking replica of me." Kani smiled proudly as she played with the emerald necklace that hung around her neck. Everyday she looked more and more like royalty.

"If anything you both are walking replica's of me." Safari said with an irritated tone, and immediately Joshua popped his head into the camera. Joshua was Safari's husband. Safari shoved him out of the frame with an annoyed look on her face.

I laughed. Everyone looked so happy and in love. When did I suddenly become so interested in finding someone I love?

"This Pryer boy sounds kind of cute, but he also sounds like a jerk. It kind of reminds me of Jason when we were in high school." Kani said as she visibly showed herself having flashbacks of the good ol' days.

"Am I really about to witness a whole other Romance story? "Safari whined and I rolled my eyes at her." Don't you have some meeting to go to?"

"Crap!" Safari yelled before ending her call. "And don't you have a banquet to go to for Jason's cousin?" I said and immediately without a word Kani turned her camera off in a hurry. I closed my laptop to look at the time. The first day of school went by in the most strange and annoying way it could possibly go.

I met five idiots and one potential friend.

I'm not saying that Voyanne and I aren't friends it's just that I don't know her well enough to call her a friend. We just met yesterday, besides she could turn at me any moment. She did say that she liked those boys didn't she? She also said that she would have a one night stand with one of them. She even said that I'm lucky that they're focusing their attention on me.

I know I know, I shouldn't be suspicious, but I seriously can't help it.

I rose from my bed and headed downstairs to see what everyone was up to.

I found my mom and Samantha sitting on the couch talking to each other while my dad sat himself at the kitchen table with his nose stuck in some paper work.

I scanned around the room for any sign of short black hair and green eyes, but as usual I found no one in the house with those features. Fryday June was no where to be seen. "Samantha where's Fryday?" asked as I continued to walk down the stairs.

"He's at work," she says without even taking her eyes off of my mom.

I walked over to where my dad was sitting at the table. "I'm going to my diner." I said before kissing his cheek. Before turning away he looked up at me and smiled. His reading glasses rested lazily on his face. His eyes crinkled when he gave me a warm smile.

I walked into my favorite diner, It's the diner that I went to with Kani when she was in middle school. She'd pick me up from elementary school and we'd be off to our favorite diner. Ever since we moved it takes a good 15 minutes instead of 5 minutes to get there, but it was a much faster ride now that I could drive a car.

I walked into the neon themed diner. This diner has been the oldest one in town so the neon themed decoration was no surprise. I sat at my favorite booth and almost immediately a hot burger and fries was set down in front of me. I looked up at him with a wide grin on my face.

He Feng started working here a few years ago, after Kani left for England. He's a big ol' softie and only cares about things he enjoys. So far its the diner, but other than that I don't know much about He Feng.

"Welcome back Vanie, it's been a while."

Vanie.

I missed that nickname.

And only that nickname.

"It has hasn't it? Sorry for taking so long. My family and I just moved a city over." I said and watched as he sat in the seat in front of me. He had short black hair and dark brown eyes. When he smiled a dimple formed on his right cheek. "Is that so? Well it looks like I might be moving as well. Probably coming to Goyer."He sighed as he rested his chin on his palm.

I looked up at him in surprise, "You're going to Goyer?"

"I'm not sure. It's whatever. It'll be boring anyway." He said, looking off to the side.

"W-well it won't be, because that's my school!" I blurted out. I did not mean to say that at all. I wanted to tell him it was his choice and that everything would be fine. Don't you hate it when your brain doesn't listen to you?

"Really? So I should go, because your going?"

"Not exactly, I was just saying that--"

"I should come to your school, because your going? It might end up that way, but this isn't a little fairy tale like your sister had, Vanie. Not everything goes as planned. Even if it wasn't planned." He simpered and shakes his head at me.

I looked down at the table and stared at my half eaten burger and discarded fry's.

Fairytale huh?

That's new.

"Vanie." I looked up and suddenly He Feng was leaning over the table and was extremely close to my face." Your at Goyer right?" I did nothing, but nod my head quickly. "And you want me to go there correct?" I nodded my head again. He leaned back in his seat and laughed amused. "Geez why'd I'd have to go and fall for someone like you?"

I didn't know if that was a compliment or an insult, but I just laughed along. I was trying my very best to comprehend what he just said and proceeded to sip my water in nervousness. "Fine I'll see what my mom says. It won't be boring I hope. See you 'round Vanie." He beamed brightly before getting up from the table and disappearing into the kitchen.

I know I said I tried to ignore it, but can't.

There's an elephant in this room and it's falling.

Falling hard.
