“You said this Seward was a drug dealer. His people probably have connections with other dealers around the country. They could well have gotten hold of some pictures of you, once they found out you were the cop who brought Seward down. All it would take would be getting the word out to keep an eye open for you.”
“And they’d still be doing that after all this time?”
“You bet, if the reward was large enough, or to get in good with the big guys. How long has it been?”
“Four years,” he replied.
“Not that long, then. I’m sure there are dealers here in town. One of them spots you, either last week, or yesterday. They let Seward’s people know and the men we dealt with this morning come to town, looking for you.”
“That makes sense. I haven’t changed much since I went undercover to stop him. My hair’s longer, but other otherwise…” He shrugged.
