After the accident

Feb 14, 2015.

302 Hospital.

A noble couple rushed anxiously toward the operation theatre with a pale face. They both looked like in a mess, after hearing their only daughter had a car accident and was in a serious condition. As soon as they came they saw Thomas and Grace Parker standing in front of the operation theatre looking like they have just lost their soul.

"Thomas, what's going on? How are the two children doing now?" James asked with a heavy heart. His only daughter was lying in the operating room at this moment fighting with death, he didn't know how to cope with that.

Because of Ava and Melody's close friendship, the Green family and the Parker family also became very close over time. They considered each other as family.

"I don't know. The doctors are still inside." Thomas said worriedly, he was pacing back and forth in the corridor. He was an old man and Melody was all he had. The Parker family was well-off, not as rich as the Green's, but Tomas and Grace had always tried to give everything to their precious daughter.

"God, they are only eighteen years old." Lilly started to cry thinking what if something happened to the girls? they just started living, they cannot die like that!

"Don't worry. It's going to be OK. They both will be alright." James patted Lily on the shoulder and tried to comfort her. He knew he needed to stay strong in front of Lily otherwise she will fall apart.

Suddenly the door of the Operation Theatre opened and a doctor in a green surgical suit came out with a file in his hand

"Who is the patient's family, please?"

"I'm Ava's father."

"I'm Melody's mother."

James and Grace said almost at the same time.

"Let me explain things in an easy way because they were in a car accident, it was brutal and both of them were injured in their heart severely. We need to transplant their heart immediately otherwise, we wouldn't be able to save them. Now the problem is we have only one heart in our hospital that matches with both patients' health condition and blood group. The operation and the postoperative treatment will cost around one million." The doctor paused and looked at both parents and hesitated, he could save only one of the girls so he could feel that it was a blow for them. After about a minute the doctor looked at James and Grace then said slowly, "Whenever you are ready please sign this declaration form and deposit the amount. As soon as that's done we will start the preparation for the operation, but let me remind you we don't have much time." Saying that the doctor handed a form to James and left.

Grace's whole body trembled and she fell on the floor, one million! Even if they sold their house, they still wouldn't be able to arrange that much money within this short time. How they were going to save their only daughter? Tears started to run through her eyes.

"Husband, please sign the form and deposit the money immediately," Lily said quickly, she was afraid if they didn't hurry Grace and Thomas will snatch the opportunity and Lily will lose her precious daughter. They had money so why wait, it's about their daughter's life after all.

James immediately filled up the form and signed it, then he called his assistant to deposit the money online.

"What about my daughter?" Grace saw that James has already signed the declaration form and instructed his assistant to make the payment, she felt lost. Was there no way to save their daughter?

Lily felt bad for Grace after all they have known each other for years and Melody was also like a daughter to her, if it was only Melody in this situation today then she would help Grace and Thomas at any cost but right now Ava was more important to her than Melody. People say a mother is always selfish when it comes to their child. Lily didn't feel guilty at all for grabbing the opportunity and saving her daughter.

"Grace, why don't you transfer Melody to another hospital, maybe you will find a matching heart and will be able to save her. We can lend you money if you need." Lily tried to comfort her, she was relieved now that her daughter was having the operation so she tried to support Grace as much as she could.

However, Grace didn't appreciate it at all, she angrily pushed Lily and looked at her with hatred in her eyes, then said," You will lend me money? Why didn't you lend it a minute earlier before James signed those papers and saved my daughter? Why didn't you transferred Ava to another hospital? Lilly, you are such a hypocrite, don't pretend to be generous and kind now."

Pushed by Grace like that Lily got angry. What the hell? She was kind enough to try to help her in this situation for the sake of all these years of relationship but Grace was being ungrateful and harshly even pushed her. What did she do wrong? Isn't it normal to save one's own child first in this kind of situation?

"Grace, it's not our fault that you didn't have money to save your daughter why are you blaming me? Wouldn't you do the same if you were in my place and save your daughter first? You know what you actually deserve it." Lily retorted angrily.

"Lilly! Please stop." James said in a deep and angry voice, what Lily said was a bit too much. No one deserves to lose their child like that, they were fortunate that they had enough money to save their daughter, they should be grateful for that not be arrogant. He could understand what Thomas and Grace must be going through right now so he didn't blame Grace for reacting like that.

When James scolded Lily, she also realized she shouldn't have said that but she was a proud person and she was still very angry, so she didn't apologize to Grace instead she turned away from her.

"Yes, it's our fault, we are poor and we can't afford such expensive medical expenses!" Thomas said word by word, his tone was firm and his heart was heavy.

"Grace, let's transfer Melody into another hospital. Don't worry, even if I have to sell everything I have I will save our daughter!"

Grace stood up and left with Thomas, they didn't know if they had any hope to save their only daughter but they were determined to try.
