He suffered two more of them, one trying to wrestle the door of the barn open and another on his way up the ladder to the loft. “Keep it up,” Dustin warned Nicolae, flashing a quick glance over his shoulder at the smirking man behind him. “Grin or no grin, I’ll whack you back if you do that again.”
“Baby,” Nicolae teased. “Quick,” he said, scrambling up behind Dustin. “Push open the hatch.”
“What hatch?” Dustin glowered around the loft. “Oh,” he shook his head at Nicolae and walked to the far wall. “That hatch.”
He pushed the door wide open, exposing the sky just as the sun began to dip behind the horizon. A pink hue seemed to fall instantly. “Oh.” Dustin grinned. “Sunset.” Nicolae slipped in beside him and put an arm around Dustin’s waist. “How’d you know?”
“I am brilliant,” Nicolae said with a small smile.
