"Haa," never thought I would do such hard labor in my life, the worst part being the fact that I can't even enjoy my hard work… cleaning books that can't open.
I've been here for a long time. Though I don't have a watch or any time-telling device, I can still tell due to how many meals I've been served. The worst part of it is the fact that I get famished earlier than expected, adding to my problems.
That old man dared do such horrible things to me, and Big Mom just left me alone with these weirdos.
Closing my eyes, I took in deep breaths, trying to calm my mind. I know if I went on feeling frustrated, the heat my body produced could end my life. I'll surely train my emotions.
Opening my eyes, I picked up a new book, cleaning as effectively as I could, not wanting any complications.
Remembering the old man's words which sent shivers down my spine. "If the books are not perfectly clean… then you'll start all over, if one piece can't be perfectly cleaned… then there's no hope for the others!" He said, his loud voice almost destroying my eardrums.
I'd rather die than start over… so since I don't want to start over, and I don't want to die, I have to make everything perfect… with my cleaning power.
Picking one book after the other, I cleaned them perfectly with a smile on my face, now I… wait! Looking at the pile of books, something caught my attention; despite the dangerous dust that left me coughing every second it still shone brightly… I know you haven't heard me cough, I was covering my mouth… so my voice was suppressed, that's why you didn't hear anything.
Anyway, back to the main topic. As I said… in the pile of dusty books one stood out, shining so bright that it left me in awe of its greatness… having the might to defy the dust-degrading effect… something, none of the other books could achieve.
Wait! Why am I seeing it now, despite its greatness… h-how did I not notice it all this while, is this the power of this bewitching dust; looking up, I could see a face forming with the dust, its smug grin causing my eyes to waver in fear of going blind.
"I surrender!" I yelled out, bowing with my head to the ground, almost cracking the hard tiles. I couldn't help but stay like that for some moments, deliberating on my next actions.
Finally making a choice, I raised my head a little in fear of revealing my eyes. Hmm? Where did he go?
"Haa, I was imagining things… thought the dust came to life," I said out loud, cleaning the sweat on my face
Looking towards the book like, I dragged my tired body, rolling over the dust I feared. Not like I had a choice, my body was too weak to avoid our current circumstances.
Reaching deep into the pile of books, I touched the glowing book, which rejuvenated my strength a little. I couldn't help but gasp in surprise, gaining more interest in the divine book.
Is this what they call luck?… or the protagonist finding a heaven-defying manual? Seems reading all those 'Xianxia' novels paid… maybe it influenced the plot of my life.
Looking at the book cover, my eyes twitched. Don't know why it happened though… maybe out of joy, or anger.
Preparing myself, I tried opening the book, performing my routine… hoping that luck is on my side.
"Eh?! Currency?!" I said out loud, checking if my reality wasn't a dream.
"What the hell! How can such a book glow so much!" I said out loud, my brain cells dying in anger. Don't get me wrong, money as we call it on Earth is all good, but… this…
Hmmm? Guess I have never considered checking out this world currency, though Big Mom gave me some coins to have fun, I never bothered researching it… seems this is the right time then.
Opening page after page, I digested all the facts I could find, grinning from ear to ear. Wherever you go, the currency seems to hold a lot of power. Though having strength is good, if your opponent has the right amount of resources, defeating them becomes difficult.
I remember back on Earth, there was this man who had a lot of strength. He was a boxer, but after fighting with some wealthy kid, he lost everything… I know you haven't heard of the story, but don't fret.
Back to the main topic; this book contains a lot about currency, though mainly for this continent.
The currency Big Mom gave me to enjoy life is known as coins, which Earth used back then… though there's a chance some places still use them. So the Xadia empire uses coins as their currency.
Then the Heaven Pavilion Sect uses 'merit points', which any denizen of their society can gain through performing good deeds, or other exchange… not interested in their method.
The Demon Cult uses 'dark orb' as their currency. According to the book, it was a pearl-like object that contained dark energy in it, similar to the energy stones, but was artificially created by them as their currency… their currency was spooky.
The general currency, which can be used or exchanged anywhere is called 'energy stone or crystal', according to the book different stones possess different forms of energy, and their worth is priced by the rarity of the particular energy it contains.
It was really good…
*Bang*
Hearing the sound of the door opening forcefully, I couldn't help but throw the book at hand, almost peeing out of fear.
{I decided to introduce the main currencies of the southern continent.}
