I hated Tuesdays. Well, not really, only Tuesdays that begin with working overnight and beginning the morning with a bite. That's right, Vernon accepted the gift, and once he wakes up, he'll be a member of the pack.
Even so, my day has only officially started. Today, I was taking Lydia to Eichen house. Right after a full moon, a lot of supernatural are in a hyper aware state. While Eichen House has its... miscomings, they also hold quite a variety of super people, including today's visit.
"So you just fight them every full moon? That really works?"
Lydia was dumbfounded, to say the least. Even after witnessing the whole process, she still mentally distinguished Malia as an alternative person for something like being beaten would work.
"Of course it works. Wolves are predators. The full moon brings out all of their predatory instincts to the max. Of course, as humans, there are differences, but the most beneficial way is to face the wolf and make it one. If you accept the power but not the nature of it, then it would never be yours."
That last sentence seemed to have sparked something in Lydia, but to what extent would it only be known later.
"Anyways, stop worrying about them. Today is your turn." I couldn't help laughing as she took a step back and put her arms up defensively. "No, we're not fighting. But you are skipping school."
"That's it? Well, fine, let me get freshened up first."
She didn't wait for anything else as she dashed off to my bathroom and occupied it. Ignoring her, I make my way to the kitchens to find the pack having breakfast. Braeden had long left, setting up shop with Parrish, while Marin had already made her way to school by now. Carrie switched shifts with Melissa today, so for once, Melissa is getting a night off while Carrie takes tonight.
Malia seemed preoccupied with something, but knowing her if she can't solve it on her own, she'll make her way to me. Erica is grabbing food to recharge for school, and Boyd is still asleep.
Sigh, as for the twins.
"When are you two going to change back?"
Sitting in Aiden's normal seat, taking up massive space at the table was our good friend 'The big guy' eating his cereal. Big Guy stopped and looked at me before saying, "It's training to see how long we can last."
"Do it some other time. You're not skipping classes with this lame excuse."
Others don't know, but how can I not know that form doesn't take any strength from the two of them to maintain. at trying to stay home with lame excuses.
The morning came and went, as everyone started today's plans. Only Lydia and I were fortunate enough to find ourselves at this awful place.
"Eichen House? This nut place? What's special about here? " Lydia asked as we made our way up the sidewalk.
"This place is a special place. Most of us choose to stay away from here as long as we can help it, but this place has its own rules. Patients follow patients' rules. Visitors are strictly visitors. Don't ask what you shouldn't, upset who you shouldn't, don't go where you shouldn't. This place has a long history and started by a group of...doctors to 'treat' supernatural. The first occupant here was a hellhound."
Little Lydia looked spooked and asked, "So our purpose today is to?"
Without answering her, we walked up to the gate and filled out visitors' forms. Lydia didn't know the name Meredith, but she felt it important. The guards didn't give us a good look the entire time, almost as if thinking about when we would end up in their 'care'. After leading us to a room and sitting us down, the guard left.
The room wasn't too big, yet it was surprisingly empty. Divided into two with a glass wall running through the middle. The two halves mirrored each other with a desk, a small chair, except the other half had a phone sitting there.
Lydia was silent as the other side's door opened, and a haggard young woman with olive skin was dragged into the chair. The woman seemed lost for a moment, looking around at everything before looking at us. She paused at me for a second before mouthing something I couldn't comprehend, but once she turned to Lydia, she stopped.
The young woman made a nervous tick before picking up the phone and putting it to her ear. Even as a supernatural, if I didn't know what she was capable of, I might have been confused. Lydia, on the other hand, seemed to have a confused expression as she pulled out her cellphone and looked at the screen.
In my eyes, the screen seemed empty, yet Lydia clicked what I assumed to be the answer button and began to speak with Meredith.
"Do you hear the voices as well? It's okay to listen to them, but sometimes they're crazy. They tell you the truest side of everything, but they also have the most fake meaning. What do they tell you? Mine tell me a lot of people are going to die soon. The Wendigos, the wolves, the witches...the voice screams all day, but they say IM CRAZY?"
Almost as soon as Lydia put the phone to her ear, an almost unheard voice started loudly whispering in her head. But the worst part was that echoes. Every word echoes into another forming and almost ear splitting sentence. "What voices? I don't understand what you're talking about?"
However, her words fell on deaf ears as Meredith showed obvious disappointment. "I thought we were the same. But if you continue to ignore the voices, you'll die too." Without another word, Meredith hung up the phone and sat there in silence.
Lydia looked lost as she tried talking into her cell again, but this time got no response. After failing for a few minutes and not getting anything else out of her, Lydia got up in anger and started walking to the door. I just nodded at the guard, signaling we're finished.
As I headed to the gate, I suddenly heard a woman's voice in my ear. "Running with the White Wolf will lead to your death. Run straight, Grey Wolf or the Black Wolf will be your end." My steps paused but kept moving forward. First Wednesday and now Meredith, two prophecies where I die, yet two endings. Wednesday's had the Alpha pack, but it didn't seem like I lost. Yet Meredith said running with the White Wolf, but who is that?
Needless to say, whether Lydia or I, we both gained something in this trip, and just how much neither of us would learn until later.
Malia Tate POV
I stood outside the small shop that opened in Beacon Hills. I had to take advantage of today when neither Oliver nor Lydia was there, although she could rely on them, this is more...personal. With a deep breath, I made my way into the place and walked right past the stunned Parrish straight to the main woman in charge and looked her dead in the eye.
"Malia? What are you doing here?"
"I need your help, privately without telling the others, Braeden."
"With what? You should know that if it's too serious, I'm limited with what I can do."
"That's fine. It should be within your capabilities. I'm looking for someone, I... don't know her name, but I know her alias."
"I can see you care a lot about this. So this time, I will help you out on a personal favor. Who are we looking for?"
"The Desert Wolf."
