"You're insane! The supernatural won't be exposed so easily. And even if we were, how would an alliance with you save anyone? " the immature Cora spoke up ever so brazenly.
"Although her words are crass, i stand by them," Laura said looking at me.
"3." I said the number to everyone's confusion before i continue "there are 3 nemetons left around the globe that still function to their full capabilities. Let's not say that they can keep the super separate from the natural, even if they could, how well and for how long?"
I motioned to Aiden as he handed me a laptop from my bag. I set it on the table and opened it. "A friend of mine has some connections in high places. She was able to grab this video before it made it to the FBI. This video was the only clue they had on a cold case, but for those in the room its very important."
Seeing as how i had attention i press play on the video and to everyone's horror it was a video of Derek running away from a mass murder case that the FBI was making huge deal about but had no leads to. But clearly in the video, a shirtless, glowing eyed Derek was unaware he was caught on camera. Laura and Satomi both turned their gazes to the stunned young man as he dealt with the embarrassment of being the example.
"My friend stopped it from reaching certain departments, but you don't think it's over, do you? While you're safe for now, you officially have an entire country looking for you. Not to mention the Wendigo raid last year that was written off as a cannibal murder case. Should i even mention the Eichen House standing downtown? What's going on in their basement? We need no explanation, right? Plus, we have Niklaus, who doesn't understand the word subtlety, and now almost all of the bayou is vampire country. The packs are rampant, the covens care less, the witches are hiding in plain sight, and you say there's no way we'll be exposed?"
The room went silent before Satomi spoke, "Even if it does come out, what are your plans? Surely, you wouldn't tease my old bones with empty talk and conspiracy theories."
"Even if you do have a plan, if what you say happens, would there really be any safe place left?" Laura was quite pessimistic, but i guess anyone would be if they saw their family on a murder evidence video.
"My plan is simple, near Australia, there's an island under the name Grey. The island itself is basically self-sufficient, and I offer both of your packs a refuge and sanctuary there. In my opinion the time we have to prepare is less than a decade. Then we won't only have to worry about Hunters. Instead, it will be ordinary people who are angry or repressed or confused looking for a place to vent and low and behold. The news tells them about man eating monsters in their daughter's school. Once those days come, the world becomes our Hunters."
The room went silent before Laura asked once more, "Is that island of yours secure? The Hales have some property and things we can always move in advance." She as an Alpha knows her worth, even amongst Alphas she's only about 30% stronger than others due to her mother's influence, but even that is only enough to guarantee their bottom line and not fight for hegemony.
After the Hales regrow, she can openly oppose anyone, but now, in this case, where Satomi is semi retired and Grey and Hale are both rebuilding, having a safe place is definitely reassuring especially after she kills Kate, even if the other families won't intervene, that madman Gerard definitely will.
Getting their approval, 'if Satomi didn't oppose, she agreed.'
Oliver was visibly relieved as he started getting up, "That island houses one of the few Nemetons i mentioned. As long as any natural approach, they will head directly to Australia instead."
The two Alphas made eye contact but were both surprised to learn that i had a fully intact nemeton on my island. Both reassure themselves that an alliance with Grey is a win. At least today, when we leave this restaurant, the three major packs of Beacon County will walk together. Now, I just got to get through this meeting and finalize some things before going to pick the girls up from school. Hopefully, they got through it.
Lydia POV
I always thought that being popular was easy, the only downside being there's too many fake friends to have a real clique. When i was walking through the school doors with a new Erica on my left and a nervous Malia on my right, we definitely turned heads. Needless to say, heads turn wherever i go. Malia was hot, but she had a wild girl air on her that kept people from getting too close as the eyes were mostly focused on.
"Isn't that Reyes?"
"No way!"
"Wait, the seizure, girl?"
"Damn, she's hot,"
"Is she single?"
"When did she start walking with Lydia?"
"Whos the other chick?"
Of course none of the comments could escape the ears of the two girls, but they definitely helped fuel Erica's confidence, which was my goal from the beginning. "Alright ladies, we take a lap around campus to help Malia learn the land while introducing her to some people to know. And likewise, let's look for those people Oliver mentioned. Who were they again?"
Erica took charge and reported, "Boyd, Isaac, and a girl named Tracy. Boyd and Ollie are already friends, so finding him shouldn't be too hard."
While I was thinking about how to coordinate these three with the pack's fashion sense, Malia spoke, "Wasn't there another? Green or something?" The three girls looked at each other with a whos that face but decided find him when they find him either way the twins are coming tomorrow and that's part of their job.
"MALIA!" a girl voice spoke, and turning their head, they saw Tracy sitting at a table on the courtyard waving at the brown haired girl she met at the Grey party. Well, she was a target anyways so they had no issue walking over and chatting with her as she offered to take Malia to her first class. All in all, the first day of sophomore year begins with no problems.
As expected of myself, my clique is coming together. After all, as the only regular girl in the pack, i had to establish myself as Lydia and not Oliver's girlfriend, and that begins with the time before he comes to school. I'll keep all of his betas and potentials safe and in order. The Lydia way.
