97 Chapter 97 - Modifications

Hey, guys, sorry about the delay again. I'm under a lot of stress now and even on my off days I feel like I have to work to keep up, so I didn't upload anything last week. Anyway, as it turned out, re-reading 47 chapters to double-check and edit is a pain in the ass, so it'll probably take a couple of weeks to upload them all. Well, maybe not that long. I spent like two hours today and I knocked about a quarter out of the way. If I can focus on this, I'll probably finish it sooner. Anyway, enjoy these chapters. I'll upload more when I can.

Ryu stood with a startled expression as Yoruichi stepped backward with a playful smirk. "What's wrong, cat got your tongue?"

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting that. But I'm happy now," Ryu chuckled, causing Yoruichi's smirk to widen in pride.

"You should, you just scored the most beautiful woman you'll ever meet," Yoruichi replied cheerfully.

"I think this calls for a celebration. Why don't I stop by your smithy in the evening? I'll give you a... Special surprise" Yoruichi teased.

"I guess I'll have to match it," Ryu smirked as he regained his cool.

"So that's a date," Yoruichi smiled as she vanished from her spot, exposing Ryu to Soifon who was watching things from the sidelines.

"Did you enjoy the show?" Ryu raised an eyebrow as Soifon let out a burst of laughter.

"Yeah, it was fun. Anyway, I just came to tell you that you'll most likely have a visitor soon, and he'll most likely be angry. Good luck," Soifon chuckled as she disappeared from her spot, leaving Ryu curios.

---

Ryu didn't need to think for long though, as his smithy was visited by a certain man.

"Hey, we meet again," Urahara greeted cheerfully as he leaned on his cane.

"Oh, so you're the one Soifon warned me about," Ryu was quick to catch on. Why else would Urahara visit him?

"Quick on the uptake, that's good," Urahara said with his cheerful attitude, though his eyes sent a different message. "I heard you Yoruichi took a liking to you. To be honest, I thought she didn't have any romantic interest. Do you realize how paranoid you become being the commander of the Covert Ops? The amount of trust she has in you is something unfathomable. And I came to check that her trust is not misplaced," Urahara continued, his cheerful attitude gone.

"I Never took you for the overprotective type," Ryu raised an eyebrow.

"I'm not like this normally. But Yoruichi, she's a special case. She was with me ever since we were kids, and she did so much for me that I can't even imagine paying her back. Now, I know that I'm not nearly strong enough to threaten or intimidate you but mark my words. If you hurt Yoruichi, even just a 𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐲 bit, even just 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞, I 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 find a way to hurt you." Urahara said with a chilling tone.

"Point taken. I'm glad Yoruichi has a friend this loyal," Ryu replied, his tone sincere. "But you should know that I have no intention of hurting her. My feelings for her are genuine, and I will do everything in my power to protect and cherish her."

Urahara eyed him for a moment before a grin spread across his face. "That's what I like to hear. I'm willing to give you a chance, Ryu, but always remember what I've said today."

As Urahara turned to leave, he paused and looked back at Ryu. "One more thing. If you ever need any assistance or advice, don't hesitate to come to me."

With that, Urahara left Ryu's smithy, leaving him to ponder their conversation.

---

As the sun began to set, it cast a warm, golden light through the trees that surrounded the Ryu's smithy. The leaves rustled gently in the breeze, creating a soothing melody that accompanied the distant sounds of conversation from the Protectors who were at the base.

"Sup," Yoruichi said as she leaned against the open door in a different outfit than usual.

Yoruichi's ensemble consisted of a pair of black, fitted jeans that hugged her athletic figure perfectly, accentuating her toned legs. The jeans were slightly distressed, giving them a touch of rugged charm that complemented Yoruichi's adventurous spirit.

She paired the jeans with a form-fitting, long-sleeved, white crop top that revealed a hint of her toned midriff. The top featured a wide, boat-neck collar that elegantly exposed her collarbones and a small portion of her caramel-toned shoulders. The minimalist design of the shirt accentuated her natural beauty and allowed her golden amber eyes to shine even brighter.

Yoruichi had opted for a pair of black, high-top sneakers that provided both comfort and support, allowing her the freedom to move effortlessly. The sneakers were adorned with subtle gold accents that reflected her unique sense of style and added a touch of elegance to her casual outfit.

To complete the look, Yoruichi had accessorized with a simple, gold pendant necklace that rested just above her collarbone, drawing attention to her graceful neck. Her hair had been styled in a more relaxed version of her usual ponytail, with some loose strands playfully framing her face, giving her a carefree and approachable appearance.

"...Wow," Ryu was utterly speechless as he was mesmerized by Yoruichi's appearance.

"Do you like it? It's some stuff I brought from the mortal world," Yoruichi said while spinning around, letting Ryu examine her outfit.

"It's breathtaking, like you," Ryu winked as he teased Yoruichi.

"Glad you liked it. I got some weird looks on the way here so I didn't know what to think," Yoruichi said as she looked down at her outfit.

"Anyway, I'm pretty sure you already know what my surprise is, but do 𝐲𝐨𝐮 have planned?" Yoruichi said curiously.

"Oh, right. I have a question for you about that. Did you talk with Raidenkyo?" Ryu asked.

"Yeah, we made up. I also got yelled at by Soifon, it was adorable to see her switching between being mad and embarrassed," Yoruichi chuckled heartedly.

"Must've been quite the sight. But to my surprise. Although you made up with Raidenkyo, it's undeniable that your skill in Hakuda far exceeds your skill in swordsmanship. I don't want you using only swordsmanship and holding yourself back, so I have a proposal," Ryu began speaking.

"Isn't this why you made me a unique sword style?" Yoruichi raised a brow.

"Well, that was supposed to help, but it was mainly to encourage you to use Raidenkyo. What I wanted to do was to offer you and Raidenkyo a solution. I can modify Raidenkyo to change her Shikai and Bankai to something that'll better fit you. It won't change Raidenkyo's personality or sense of self, but it will be extremely painful. Though I can put it to sleep if it wants," Ryu explained.

"You can 𝐝𝐨 that?" Yoruichi said in a baffled tone.

"Yup. I already tried it with Soifon so it works. Anyhow, you should probably talk it over with Raidenkyo. I'll wait here," Ryu said as Yoruichi went out to talk with Raidenkyo.

---

"She agreed," Yoruichi said after a couple of minutes.

"That didn't take long," Ryu commented as he conjured his hammer.

"She agreed that this was the best solution. And she prefers if you put her to sleep," Yoruichi relayed Raidenkyo's words.

"Alright. Put her on the anvil and I'll get to work," Ryu said as he snapped his fingers, making Raidenkyo enter a deep sleep before channeling divinity into his hammer.

"Let's begin the show," Ryu smirked as he began to work.

The rhythmic pounding of Ryu's hammer was like a symphony, each beat resonating within the very core of the room. The sound of metal against metal filled the smithy, its vibrations reverberating through the walls and ceiling, creating a symphony of force and precision. The constant beat of his hammer was like a heartbeat, a testament to the new life he was breathing into the Raidenkyo.

With each strike, sparks leaped from the anvil, bright and ephemeral, like fleeting fireflies in the night sky. They danced and twirled in the air as if they were alive, each spark a tiny life born from the marriage of steel and force. Ryu's strikes were perfectly placed, each one hitting the sword spirit with expert precision. His movements were fluid and graceful, like a dancer on stage. The way he held his hammer, the way he moved his body, it was all a testament to his skill and experience.

As he modified Raidenkyo, Ryu applied a variety of techniques, each one honed through years of practice and adapted to the unique requirements of the sword spirit. He struck the spirit from above, from below, from the side, always finding the perfect angle to channel his divinity into the spirit.

With each strike, Raidenkyo grew stronger, its power amplified by Ryu's divine hammer. it became more mystical, more otherworldly, its essence forever altered by Ryu's divinity.

Raidenkyo's body, once solid and tangible, now appeared to be a masterful blend of physicality and etherealness. Its edges blurred, seamlessly transitioning between the realm of the living and that of the divine.

Raidenkyo's ghostly fur, once a bright, rich yellow, now crackled with the energy of a thousand storms. Each strand seemed to be made of pure electricity, pulsating with the raw power of lightning. The fur danced and swayed, leaving a trail of sparks and miniature storms in its wake.

The spirit's eyes had transformed as well. They were now vast pools of swirling storms, reflecting the unbridled power and fury of nature. Lightning danced within the depths of Raidenkyo's eyes, a captivating sight that held both beauty and danger.

As Ryu stepped back, he took a deep breath and smiled, his sweat-soaked brow glistening in the dim light of the forge. The transformation was a success, and Raidenkyo was now more powerful than ever before. Ryu's eyes sparkled with pride and anticipation, eager to test Raidenkyo's newfound abilities. But that would wait for tomorrow. For now, Ryu allowed himself a moment of satisfaction, and anticipation of the reward that was about to come.

As Ryu sat down, Yoruichi stealthily approached him from behind. Playfully and seductively, she wrapped her hands around his neck, her breath warm on his skin. "I didn't know what to expect, but this was bewitching," she whispered in his ear, a hint of mischief in her voice.

Feeling the sudden embrace, Ryu's heart raced, and he couldn't help but smile at Yoruichi's teasing words. She continued, slowly whispering, "I think it's time I showed you the surprise that I planned, don't you think?"

Ryu blushed a little, fully aware of Yoruichi's intentions. Although they had shared many moments of flirtation in the past, this was different. The atmosphere was charged with desire and passion. That, and although he experienced intercourse in countless memories that he absorbed, he had never actually done it himself.

Yoruichi slowly released her grip around Ryu's neck, her fingers trailing lightly down his back. She took his hand and led him away from the forge, towards the bedroom. The two disappeared from the smithy, leaving the lingering heat and sparks behind.
