23 [Chapter 23] A Quick Battle

The next day,

At the outskirts of the city,

"The Daimyo sure is quite old huh. When I first looked at him, I thought that he was an old Grandma, hahaha", said Hakuto with a chuckle as he put a finger on his chin, remembering the appearance of the Daimyo.

Ryo nodded and said, "It's a pity we had to stand and watch from afar. Well whatever, I don't think that he even knows a jutsu."

Hearing the conversation between these two rude students of his, Hayate's face flinched 'These fools..... they will get me into deep trouble one day, thankfully no one is listening.'

He then raised his hands, went behind them sneakily and then *baam*, he punched both of them on their head with rage.

"Ouch.... what was that for?", asked both of them as the rubbed their head to releave their pain.

"You two..... Looks like I will have to teach you some manners. The Daimyo is someone who is respected by everyone in this country and holds a lot of meaning, be respectful."

After scolding both of them for a while,

"We have to leave as soon as possible and give these agreement papers to Hokage sama", said Hayate as he started to walk towards the city gate.

"Well this place surely was a lot of fun, I will come here again during my vacation", Ryo said as he turned backwards to see the city for one last time before leaving.

"Heh... What vacation", said Hayate in a mocking tone as he sped up and jumped towards the nearest tree as they had already exited the city.

"Wait, what!?" shouted the two teammates in a horrified tone.

A few minutes later,

Team Hayate had travelled a short distance from the city. Only flora and fauna surrounded them.

"Aaaah!!!"

A deafening sound could be heard throughout the forest.

Taking quick action, Hayate turned towards his two students and signaled them to change their route.

Ryo and Hakuto nodded and quietly took out their kunais, turned towards their right, ready to change their route.

This was a world full of ninjas and such fights were a very common occurrence.

If the person is not your comrade, there is no need to help. This was something taught on day one.

To make it even worse, missions took priority over comrades. If there is a risk of compromising the mission by rescuing your comrade then the mission should be the priority.

As the team was going to sprint out of there, a large number of needles shot towards them at a terrifying speed.

Having a lot of experience, Hayate took quick action.

"Wind style: Raging Winds!" *Swoosh*!

Hayate shot a strong gush of Air from his mouth, deflecting all the needles aimed at them.

"You have heard too much", spoke haku expressionlessly as he continued to attack the team.

"Get in formation!", shouted Hayate.

'Oh Shit! Did these idiots have to come now? Whatever, I have to finish this, I don't care if I have to show my strength, I can't let anything happen to them!' Ryo quickly thought as his expression changed into a cold one.

As they went into formation, a voice came,

"The infamous Crescent moon swordsman, Hayate Gekko eh, Haku, finish those two children, I will deal with him", spoke Zabuza.

He was covered in blood, his face showed a chilling expression, it was truly a horrifying face.

"But sir, I can handle all of the- ", before Haku could finish his sentence, Zabuza glared at him.

"Yes, sir I will do as you say", spoke Haku as he shot more needles towards Ryo and Hakuto.

Just as the needles were shot, Hayate deflected them with his sword swiftfully. *Clang* *Clang* *Clang*

Every needle was shot in the downward direction, burying into the soil.

"Ryo, Hakuto leave this place immediately, I will buy you enough time", said Hayate calmly as he took a fighting stance.

He was fully aware of who Zabuza was since his name was in the bingo book and had also had been informed about him recently due to rumours.

'I will have to fight Zabuza and his follower to death! I can't let these two get harmed, it is my duty to protect them!',

Zabuza not wasting time, used a jutsu to cover the whole place with mist.

"But Sensei w-"

"No buts, this is an order, both of you should get out of here", Hayate said sternly before Ryo could complete his sentence.

"No we.... we cannot abandon you, we will fight!", shouted Hakuto, clenching his fists.

Being smart he knew that the opponent was very dangerous as even his Sensei told them to escape without any second thought. Even so he could not leave him, nor could Ryo.

The stern expression on Hayate's face faded as it was replaced with a caring smile, full of emotions. He slowly opened his mouth and spoke,

"The time is tight, I can't talk much, I don't even know if I will survive but I want you to know that you will always be my students who I care about the most, always remember that.... and before I forget..... If I don't make it back... tell Yugao that I..... loved her..... now leave."

That smile showed that he had accepted the consequence that this fight would cause.

With full determination to help his students escape, he rushed towards Haku and Zabuza who were standing next to each other, preparing to attack.

This all happened very fast.

*thump* *thump* Ryo's heartbeat grew faster and faster hearing these words 'This.... is this what a true ninja is... I will not let anything happen to him!'

Adrenaline rushed through Ryo's body, all his feelings gushed like a waterfall which could be seen on his face. He knew he had to calm down fast.

Immediately Calming down, Ryo looked towards Hakuto and nodded to which Hakuto nodded back.

During the short period of time that the team had been formed, all the three members had formed a very close bond unlike the other teams.

Hayate not being your average ninja, taught Ryo and Hakuto what he could and was not a ruthless person without any emotions, he genuinely cared about his students and these emotions were not left unreciprocated.

As they trained together, they felt a place of belonging to this team.

"Shadow possession jutsu" Hakuto took quick action, which surprised Haku, locking him in the shadow.

"What are you....." just as Hayate was going to speak, Zabuza attacked him with his sword.

Hayate barely blocked the attack and slid back due to impact.

Hayate did not continue to speak as he engaged in combat. As they fought fiercely, they got farther and farther away.

Haku was struggling to move. He was confident that he could free himself in a few seconds but before he could do so, Ryo flickered from his position and appeared behind Haku.

He was so fast that it looked like he teleported.

He took his sword out of the Scabbard, coated it fully with lightning and stabbed Haku in the heart.

Blood spurted out of Haku's mouth, his body grew weaker with every passing second, his eyes went dimmer until it completely lost its colour.

Mustering all the remaining strength he had, he slowly opened his mouth and spoke in a low and weak voice,

"Mister Zabuza.... I..... failed you.... I am..... sorry."

These were the last words he spoke before he left the world.

"The world is cruel... I don't know what to say", said Ryo as he looked towards the bright sky with slight sadness in his eyes.

Pulling his sword out, Ryo flickered back to Hakuto's side.

The scene of Haku dying was very dramatic, he first fell on his knees and then *thud*, he completely collapsed.

"So.... so fast", commented Hakuto with wide eyes as he retracted his shadow. He had to use a lot of his Chakra to extend his shadow to such a distance so he was very tired.

"Blaargh..... not this again", Ryo said, nauseating.

'This killing still feels so wrong... no I have to pull through! Sensei is still in danger! Let's finish this, I don't care if this will be an overkill.'

Just as Haku collapsed, Zabuza looked towards their direction.

Seeing Haku's state, his eyes widened, not believing what happened he shouted with anger,

"How dare you! I am going to kill you!"

He then sprinted towards Ryo, ignoring Hayate, who chased after him.

"Ryo watch out!" shouted Hayate.

Just as Ryo was going to switch to his lightning Chakra mode, he sensed someone coming towards him.

'Looks like I don't have to do anything now.'

Just as Zabuza was going to reach Ryo, Shisui, who was in an anbu outfit, appeared in front of him and deflected his sword.

"Leave him to me", said Shisui as his eyes changed into the three tome Sharingan.

Hayate instantly recognised who the person was and thus sighed in relief. He had literally escaped death!

(A/N:- Hayate doesn't know it is Shisui but knows that it is an anbu. He thinks that the anbu must have been given the order to kill Zabuza.)

Shisui then flickered and started attacking Zabuza from all sides with his short sword.

Zabuza, not being a pushover, started defending with his big sword.

Shisui, not wanting to waste any time, increased his speed.

"Who are you..... no..... how can this be possible!!!" These were the last words he said before he collapsed with cuts all over his body.

Defeating Zabuza, Shisui put him in a strong genjutsu.

"He will be interrogated", said Shisui as he tied the heavily injured Zabuza up.

He then put the cold body of Haku in a scroll.

"Thank you for the help", said Hayate as he looked towards Shisui with greatfull eyes.

"I will be leaving with him now", said Shisui as he flickered away.

The fact that he was Ryo's Sensei was only known by him, Minato and Itachi so he didn't interact with Ryo.

"Who was that....?" asked Hakuto, who was in a lot of confusion.

This was an opponent that even Hayate would have to fight to death but someone appeared out of nowhere and easily defeated him, Hakuto could not believe this.

"He was from the anbu, I will tell you more later but for now, I want to have a talk with you two, especially you Ryo, we have a lot to talk about", said Hayate in a very serious tone.

Ryo nodded as he understood that he had a lot of explaining to do because of the small display of his strength.

Hakuto's head was spinning, he was too confused to react.
