39 Ch 38 : Ami Vs. Kankuro

The battle between Shino and Zaku Abumi proceeded exactly like in the anime and Shino easily clinched a spot for the third stage.
The stage was soon cleared with everyone prepared for the third battle.
< Ami vs. Kankurō >
Ami was shocked to see her name on the electric board, especially when her opponent was someone that Sanada had told her to be wary about.
Among all the participants in the Chunin Exams, Sanada had made a list of who to avoid.
Gaara was obviously on the "immediately surrender" list, while Kankuro and Temari were on the "be wary" list.
Ami turned her face towards Sanada and when she saw Sanada nod back in her direction, she felt a bit relieved.

The two came down to the stage now facing each other.
Like in the anime, Kankuro was in a very relaxed mood trying to make his opponent fall into his trap.
Hayate looked towards both of them and announced.
"Let the match begin!"
Ami immediately reached into her pockets quickly sending 2 Kunai flying at Kankuro.
Kankuro reacted by deflecting them with his own Kunai, but he then noticed that something was off.
'Damn it.....'
On the Kunai that Ami threw, she had attached explosive tags, which were ready to be detonated at any time.
"Katsu!!"
BOOOMMM!!!!!
An explosion shook the stage. Kankuro reacted pretty quickly as he somehow avoided the explosion.
He wasn't able to escape without a scratch though, Kankuro's body was now riddled with burn marks as he was unable to completely dodge the explosion. Kankuro, ashamed of himself for his carelessness, quickly covered the distance between the two.
But as soon as Ami realized Kankuro's intentions, she dodged backward, throwing another two kunai with explosive tags.
BOOMM!!! BOOM!!!!
The method of dodging while throwing explosive tags was pretty effective. Kankuro wasn't able to get close giving Ami the upper hand.
Of course, all of this was allowed to happen because Kankuro wanted to keep his cards hidden. He wanted to take Ami by surprise by keeping what he had in the bandages secret but it seemed like that wasn't a feasible plan anymore.
Without his Puppet Master Jutsu, Kankuro couldn't contend with Ami.
"Damn it, where the fuck are you getting all your explosive tags from?!"

- A week earlier -
After a few training sessions with Ami, Sanada realized that she had very good throwing techniques. He wanted to enhance the fatality of Ami's throwing technique and explosive tags were a good way to do that.
However explosive tags were pretty expensive. Usually, a ninja would have less than 10 explosive tags on their body.
And to solve that problem, Sanada was currently taking Ami to a place.
"Sensei, what are we going to do....."
"Hehe, don't worry Ami. Just believe in Sensei. Everything will be fine."

" Anhhhh~♡♡♡"
" More ♡♡ Please give me more~♡♡"
" I'm getting addicted to this~♡♡♡"
In front of Sanada and Ami were several businessmen moaning and hallucinating from Sanada's food. Just for this occasion, Sanada had decided to go all out and to do that he made these businessmen slaves to his food.
"Hehe, one portion of food will cost you XXXXXX Ryo, so who wants one first?"
"Ahh ♡♡, please give me one!"
"No, ♡♡ I'll pay for XXXXXX Ryo. Please give me one."
And just like that, Sanada easily solved the problems regarding explosive tags.

Back to the battle between Ami and Kankuro.
Kankuro was frustrated and felt like he couldn't tolerate this anymore.
"ARGGHHH!! Alright, I'm gonna get serious now! Go Karasu!!!"
Karasu appeared from his bandages and Kankuro instructed his puppet to rush at Ami.
Now that he had revealed his card, he surely wouldn't pull any punches anymore.
Just one or two explosive tags definitely wouldn't be able to fend off Karasu, so Kankuro wanted to see how Ami would handle his puppet.
But an evil smirk then appeared on Ami's face.
"Hahaha, I've been waiting for this! Sensei said that the point of money is to burn it, so burn!!!!!"
All of a sudden, Ami revealed more than hundreds of explosive tags, which shocked everyone present. The explosive tags were densely packed together and just like that Ami quickly threw them at Karasu.
"KATSU!!!!!!"

A big explosion that would even make the new years fireworks shy away expanded on the battle stage.
Among the spectators, Sanada could only cry silently to himself. He had indeed said those things to Ami, but the amount of money that she burned in this one explosion was no less than XXXXXX Ryo.
The battle continued with Ami constantly throwing kunai with explosive tags attached to them at Kankuro. With Karasu being broken by the hundred explosive tags, Kankuro was now very vulnerable and as such he admitted defeat.
"Winner Ami!" Gekkō Hayate announced with a tired expression.
The amount of money that Ami burned just in this match was more than enough to cover for his marriage.
Ami heard Hayate announce her win and made a peace sign with her hand directing it at Sanada.
Even though Ami like Hibachi wasn't interested in pursuing a career as a ninja and was very content with her job in the restaurant she had another reason. Her opponent this time wasn't a comrade from the same village or anything. There wasn't any need for her to hold back.
Sanada could only sigh helplessly at the conduct of his disciples. He still nodded at Ami as if saying that he was satisfied with her performance.
