Chapter 35 - Dangers on the Border

"Kagami, do you sense it too?"

Just outside the camp, Kagami was sitting on a tree branch with Mira as they ate lunch. It has been a little over a month since they collided with the Raikage and Killer Bee. Which gave the camp and Hokage a headache as they too were troubled by the information. However, besides an increase of tension on the border, not much changed. Well beside the Raikage attempting to find more information on both him and Mira.

"Mmm, we are going to have a troublesome fight in the coming days." Kagami nodded.

He felt his back tingling as if warning that a tough fight was coming soon. So he began to mentally prepare himself as well as guessing who was coming for them. He already knew that the Raikage isn't as the man is reported to be busy negotiating with Iwagakure. Hence, either a Kumogakure is sending a large number of shinobi or sending their top elites with a Jinchuriki.

"I want to return to the village. We have been here for half a year already." Mira changed the topic slightly. "It's been so long since I saw my great grandfather and he is not getting any younger."

Kagami nodded as he wanted to return and visit his grandfather too and work on a few projects. It has been driving slightly mad; he hasn't been able to tinker or build anything in months. So his mechanical affinity was driving him mad, since editing and creating jutsu's could only do so much.

The feeling of metal combining, the feeling of building something physical, the joy of success and the puzzlement of troubleshooting. He misses this feeling, but is unable to do it. Hence he was also longing to return.

'Not to mention most of the shinobi we came with is returning, but our names weren't on the list.' Kagami mentally sighed to himself.

"I guess it can't be helped. Most of the shinobi here are unable to fight against a jinchuriki. So we aren't able to leave." Kagami sighed. "It is not hard to fight one either if one is prepared."

Kagami looked at Mira who was blankly staring at him as if he said something dumb. Which he just rolled his eyes at her for not thinking the same as him. Sure they might lack the chakra to meet a jinchuriki head on in a chakra battle, but they were shinobi. They don't need to fight head on battles, but target the target weakness.

From what Kagami knows, most jinchuriki tend to use their physical strength and their large chakra to battle. So while some may use jutsu, if one can suppress their chakra, then one basically already won over half the battle. So he really didn't see why Mira looked at him like she didn't know this too.

Mira: "..."

Days passed with a new group arriving at the border while another group left to relax in the village. During which, both Mira and Kagami felt the incoming attack growing stronger, yet no one else seemed to feel the same. So, they felt it would be a targeted attack and not a large raid on the camp.

Slipping his sword onto his back alongside the large scroll he has been carrying around since arriving. Kagami felt like today will be a long mission as hopped on his toes to get a bit energized before stepping out of the tent. Where he was greeted by Mira who was also prepared for them to have a mission outside of the camp.

"Off we go." Kagami wrapped his arm around Mira's shoulders.

The task they were given was to scout an area for a potential hideout for Kumo shinobi. The mission isn't long, but the distance between there and the camp requires nearly a day to traverse even at their fastest speed. So it will take around five days to complete if they are fast or up to two weeks if they are slow. Hence if they were captured or killed, both Kagami and Mira can expect no help as they will be long gone by the time Konoha reacts.

Inside the Kumogakure Raikage Office, the Raikage looked up at a young woman with silver white hair and dark skin. She was an intern who was in progress of becoming his assistant in the future, before his eyes drifted over to an older man with a bulky build. A not uncommon build among the village as a grin crossed the Raikage lips.

"Is everything in place?" He asked.

"Yes, as we speak Kagami Senju and Mira Uchiha should be on course to the hideout. There Killer Bee and Yugito are waiting in ambush with fifty jonin and elite chunin mixed in." The bulky man spoke. "In another day the two should be captured or dead."

"Good, our spy we bought has done well. Hopefully we can capture them as the boy is a genius from the intel I gathered and the Uchiha girl. In a few years, we can introduce sharingan users among our village kekkei genkais." The Raikage grinned.

"I hate to burst your bubble, but what plans do you have if they manage to escape?" The woman asked.

The Raikage slammed his fist on the desk, as he spoke angrily. "That won't happen. They are just children, while strong children, they have yet to mature fully."

The woman nodded and didn't continue to speak any further for it would be futile effort to do so. She couldn't help but feel that the Raikage plan won't go smoothly. So she decided to begin preparation for the fall out should it fail after this meeting. Since, something was itching in the back of her mind as she felt the Raikage is underestimating his opponents.

"Send a message to the spy and ask him to keep an eye on the situation. Once word gets back to Konoha that two of their strongest prodigies are captured or dead. It will be crucial to find out how Konoha will react at the quickest speed." The Raikage spoke before changing the topic. "Now let's begin with the condition that the old fence sitter has put up."
