Chapter 5
HINATA HYUGAA
Failure. Disappointment. Ordinary. These words were the words Hinata Hyuga was associated with. In the clan, she had been continuously compared with her cousin from the side branch. In the academy, she was pitted against the sole Uchiha. And now, in team eight she was compared to another prodigy. Shinso ken, they had been classmates for four years. He had been good during classes, yet only now as a genin, she understood that academy ranks were meaningless.
It was their day off and Kurenai sensei had invited them for an outing. This was much less awkward than their first meal together. That had been an awkward meeting.
Though they had progressed since then, doing missions and training together had helped them a lot. She looked up and saw Shinso Kun with his signature dice in hand. He was doing tricks with them, having them levitate, repel and attract each other and move in unique patterns.
He looked up and saw her staring at him,
"Is there something wrong Hinata?"
She was abashed at having been found staring. She shook her head and looked down,
"No-Nothing. I just wanted to ask. Umm. Why do you play with them like that? You used to do so in the academy as well. You don't have to . .. "
"Hmm, perhaps you should try it yourself." He said while passing her a box.
The box had ten dice, all of them made out of blue ceramic-like material. She picked them up and held them in their hands. She started supplying them with chakra but they did not budge.
"Well, let me guide you towards the basics." He said while picking up a dice.
Now both sensei and Shino Kun were looking at them.
"You know the leaf sticking exercise and tree walking right."She nodded as he continued.
"What happens when you supply too much chakra?"
SHINSO KEN
Chakra had two inherent properties, these were attraction and repulsion. Two surfaces coated with chakra could either attract or repel one another based on several factors. These die hab has been my creation, I had them specifically made by Ten ten's father. Materials like jade and ceramic were able to hold a small amount of chakra in them
By supplying such a small amount of chakra appropriately through specific tenketsu, I was able to levitate them. This was a chakra control training exercise that I had been doing for a couple of years now, My control was now in the ninety-seventh percentile. This was an achievement that even man medic ninjas could not boast about.
I guided Hinata through the initial steps and was happy to see her levitate a single dice. This meant that she had above-average control, which was kind of a given with her being a Hyuga.
"Ahh, well thanks for reminding me." I took out two more boxes and passed them to Shino and sensei.
"As you can see, it is a good way to train your control. "
Both Shino and sensei thanked me for the gifts,
"Kurenai sensei opened her box and took out dark red die and while looking at it asked me a question.
"Why do you practice control so much, Sjinso Kun? Do you want to learn medical ninjutsu?"
Ahh, well that was kind of my motivation. Initially, I had started focusing on control in a bid to learn medical ninjutsu, but then one look at the hospital's overburdened staff and the memorization-focused nature of it had made me give up.
"Well, control is good for everything. It just improves me overall. And it's fun."
She nodded and I looked over and could see her levitating two of them on her palm. Sheesh, she was showing off.
Suddenly she looked out the window and excused herself. We were still busy eating when she came back and told us all,
"We have been summoned by the Hokage."
Well, this was new.
All of us stood in the Hokage office, ready for further instructions. Then the Hokage spoke,
"One of our teams has decided to continue a false ranked mission and requested backup. Though they expect themselves to be capable of completing the mission, we must be prudent. So, I am assigning your team as a backup."
He passed sensei the mission scroll, which she accepted, she read it herself and then passed it to me.
"Team eight accepts the mission, Lord Hokage," Sensei spoke.
The Hokage dismissed us, I opened the scroll to read the information,
Well, this was unexpected. We were being sent to back up Team seven.
"This is an important mission. I want you all to prepare adequately for the mission. Meet me in an hour at the front gate." And with that sensei was off. All three of us separated and made our way to our homes.
I entered the apartment and began to pack, my mind was still on the mission. Was this cannon? I couldn't remember all the details, but this was most probably new. I began packing, gathering up all the supplies. I looked at the desk and it had a newly made scabbard. It had a purplish sheen, just like my sword.
I had not been able to test it by myself yet. This was specifically made by Ten ten's father. I decided to change the scabbards and sealed the sword in the storage scroll.
After completing the packing, I sat down and thought about something, I had almost forgotten. Zabuza Momochi and Haku Yuki. It had been a long time since I remembered these names. They were the first adversaries the protagonist faced.
They were strong, stronger than people realized. The Demon of The Mist had survived a confrontation with the Fourth Mizukage, fleeing when he failed to assassinate the man. And Haku was the last remnant of a clan that had produced shinobi like the first Mizukage.
Would I have to fight them, more importantly, was I ready to fight such monsters?
I sighed, this was not the time to dwell on useless topics, I would have to face whatever may come.
I left my apartment locked it and made my way to the front gate. I reached the gate and was surprised to see Shino already there. I greeted him and began to wait for the rest of the team.
Both sensei and Hinata joined us after some minutes and then we were off. Huh, this was my first time outside Konoha. Well, let us hope it is not the last.
