Chapter-31 Prelimanary Round

SASUKE: "I don't know about your parents but I've some idea. Don't you know about your parents? I thought you knew your parents."

NARUTO: "I don't know, no one told me anything, they said they don't know."

SASUKE: "You know that you are the kyubi jinchuriki, right?"

NARUTO: "Yes, what does that have to do with anything?"

SASUKE: "If you read the detailed history about Konoha then you will know that the first jinchuriki of kyubi was Mito Uzumaki, wife of first Hokage 'Hashirama Senju'. You will not get many information about the second jinchuriki of kyubi but I know about her, it was Kushina Uzumaki. She came to Konoha from Uzushiogakure to become the second jinchuriki of kyubi when Mito Uzumaki was near her death. Tailed beast are greatest weapon of any village so they don't randomly choose jinchuriki. They needed someone who is able to handle the kyubi chakra to become its jinchuriki. Uzumaki clan members are known for their strong life force and high amount of chakra. They are best in handling the kyubi chakra that is why Mito and Kushina were chosen to become its jinchuriki. Naruto you are the third kyubi jinchuriki, you have more chakra than me, Sakura and Kakashi combine. You also have Uzumaki as your last name, you belong to the Uzumaki clan like Karin here.

As for your parents, I don't know about them but since Uzumaki clan was destroyed and Kushina Uzumaki was the only known living Uzumaki in Konoha then you must be her son. Hokage must know about this, you should ask him. You are clearly an Uzumaki so no one other than Kushina Uzumaki can be your mother. Since kyubi is sealed inside you then she must have died 12 years ago after kyubi was set free. As for your father, you should ask Hokage about husband of Kushina."

Naruto sat down and started processing all those information. Sakura was silent, she did not know what to say. Karin was looking at Naruto, he was also among the last survivors of Uzumaki clan, they can consider each other as family.

Naruto wanted to go to the Hokage office now and ask him about his parents but Sasuke stopped him. He convinced him to go to Hokage office after the end of second phase of chunin exam, he was also going to join Naruto and request Hokage to let Karin stay in leaf village. Naruto promised that he is not going to let Karin leave the leaf village.

Nothing major happened in the next five days and finally 21 participants passed the second phase of chunin exam. It was decided that the preliminaries round will occur before the third phase, Kabuto withdrew from chunin exam, this led to 20 participants remain for the preliminaries. Hayate Gekko was the proctor of this round and he explained the rules.

The first matchup was Sasuke against a member of Kabuto's team, Yoroi Akado. This fight did not last long, the moment proctor said start Sasuke put his opponent in genjutsu and the next second Sasuke was standing next to his opponent with his sword at his neck. Hayate Gekko announced Sasuke as the winner.

Up next was Zaku Abumi from sound village against Shino Aburame of team-8. Things occurred pretty much like cannon. Shino won his fight followed by Kankuro from sand village defeating Misumi Tsurugi of Kabuto's team.

Fourth match was between Sakura and Ino. Sakura's hard work during training with Sasuke paid off, Ino was no match for her. She was very happy defeating Ino, they have been love rival for very long time. Sakura's performance was not very eye catching, it was just that Ino was very weak.

In the fifth fight Tenten of Rock lee's team was defeated by Temari of sand village, next Shikamaru defeated Kin Tsuchi of sound village in the sixth match.

Seventh match was between Naruto and Kiba. Naruto has trained with Sasuke for very long time, he was stronger than any chunin. The moment proctor said start, Naruto quickly made the hand sign for multi-shadow clone jutsu. Ten shadow clones and Naruto attacked Kiba and his nin-kin 'Akamaru'. It was a one sided fight resulting in the defeat of Kiba. Hinata did not even have the time to get in conflict about whom to support and fight was over.

Eighth match was between Hinata and Neji, Hinata was determined to show Naruto her resolve and she gave everything to the fight. Neji still defeated her and injured her very badly. Naruto was very angry and wanted to beat up Neji but stopped by other people.

Next match up was between Rock Lee and Gaara. The current Rock Lee was much stronger than his cannon counter part, he was able to open upto sixth gate. Sasuke was sure that Rock Lee won't lose to Gaara but there was a possibility that he may knock out Gaara which would result in Shukaku taking over and running rampant right here. So he decided to warn Rock Lee.

SASUKE: "Hey Lee, listen to me for a second."

ROCK LEE: "What is it my eternal rival."

SASUKE: "Do you have any idea about your opponent?"

ROCK LEE: "No, but it doesn't matter he will taste the power of my youth."

SASUKE: "You are a ninja Lee not a samurai, you need to get information about your opponent, that is the greatest weapon of a ninja."

Guy was standing next to Rock Lee, listening to the conversation of his disciples.

GUY: "Listen to Sasuke, Lee. Greatest weapon of a ninja is indeed information. That is one of the most youthful lesson about being a ninja."

ROCK LEE: "Yes Guy sensei."

SASUKE: "He is the Jinchuriki of sand village, and since you are going to compete with him then you should remove all the weights before you go inside the arena. I have a lot of knowledge about fuinjutsu so I can tell you that the seal used by sand village to imprison the one tailed inside Gaara is the pretty shitty.

You see the underline beneath his eyes, it is caused due to lack of sleep. If Gaara goes to sleep then the tailed beast would take control over him, that is why he never sleeps. Naruto is also jinchuriki but the seal used is very powerful, kyubi inside him cannot affect Naruto, but Gaara's seal is very weak, it barely contains the one tail inside him. Gaara must have been tortured by listening to tailed beast inside his head constantly. This must be the reason for his psychological problems. He will enter the arena with only one purpose, 'kill his opponent'.

You need to be careful of him, if you manage to knock him out then one tailed beast will be unleashed and go on a rampage here and if you got careless then he will probably kill you. You got the worst possible match up so GOOD LUCK."
