Chapter 20: Matatabi

After I finished laying out my proposal A still didn't speak. From how he looked I didn't know if he was thinking it over or if he had just zoned out somehow.

When the veins started to visibly appear in his arms I turned around and started to walk to the door. "If you accept let me know. I will be in the village for a few days" I walked out the door and started to head towards the centre of town, I needed to find somewhere to eat.

I didn't get far before I could feel a powerful chakra trailing me. I could easily tell who it was, Yugito Nii. I stopped and looked in her direction. "Are you going to join me?"

There was a silence, Yugito didn't move at all.

"I'm grabbing something to eat, my treat if you change your mind" I took a few steps forward and stopped. "Oh and please let Matatabi know that her brother Kurama is angry but otherwise doing ok"

Yugito appeared in front of me. "Who are you?"

"What do you mean? I'm light. I'm assuming the Raikage told you everything you need to know about me already" I tilted my head to the side and looked confused.

Yugito was silently staring at me until her eyes changed from black to a yellow eye and a blue eye.

"How do you know my name? How do you know Kurama?" What I assume is now Matatabi asked me.

"It's an honour to meet you properly Matatabi. As to how I know Kurama, welllllll. I met him once" I remembered when I looked in to Naruto's chakra and saw him. "Although all he did was yell 'GET OUT' to me" I imitated Kurama to the best of my ability.

Matatabi gave me a small smile when I imitated Kurama.

"That sounds like him, but how did you come to learn our names?"

"I can't really explain that, but I think you will understand if I say. In another life I saw you all when you were one and then when you were nine, your father named you all and hoped you would help the world."

Matatabi looked at me but I could see she could understand what I was saying.

"I am sorry" I said to her. "We. Humans. Have wronged you and your family, we used you for the wrong reasons to cause pain and destruction not just to ourselves but to you as well." I bowed my head I'm apology, even when I thought this world was just a show I hated the way the Tailed beasts were treated.

Matatabi looked surprised by my apology, but given that no human other than the sage of six paths had treated them with much respect it wasn't surprising.

"Do not apologise young one, you haven't done anything wrong" Matatabi was probably the kindest Tailed beast you could meet, as long as you weren't her enemy. "Are you the one the old man spoke of?" Matatabi asked.

"No" I shook my head. "However he has been born and you will meet him in a few years" 'I just hope not in the same way you did before' I probably wont be able to stop all the tailed beasts being stolen, but I hope I can save at least a few.

"That is good to know, thank you"

"Your welcome" I nodded towards her.

"What are you talking about?" I looked back up and Yugito's eyes had turned back to normal.

"Matatabi will tell you if she thinks you need to know" Yugito didn't look happy but she accepted that whatever it was, it wasn't important right now.

"So, can I treat you to that meal?" I asked Yugito

"Sure follow me" Yugito started to walk and I followed closely behind. I noticed the stares the villagers were giving Yugito, they were the same stares Naruto would get, cold and full of hate. We entered a restaurant and Yugito ordered for us both.

"Are the Tailed beasts related to each other?" Yugito blurted out as we sat down.

"Why do you think that?" I asked.

"Although Matatabi was in control I could hear you talking, although I didn't understand some of what you were talking about it seems as thought the tailed beasts were once one beast that was then split in to nine"

"Hmm very good, yes they were and they were raised as siblings. Has Matatabi not mentioned this?"

"No, she doesn't talk about her past"

"Have you ever asked?" Yugito became silent, obviously they weren't as friendly as I thought.

"Well it's up to her how much she tells you" Yugito seemed disappointed, she wanted to know more about the Matatabi and the rest. "Your not the only Jinchuriki I know, there is a boy in the leaf village called Naruto. If you ever meet him try and get along ok" I smiled at her.

"I get along with people I choose to" Yugito shrugged and looked away.

I laughed "Yes well he seems to get along with almost everyone he meets, trust me you'll be friends before you know it"

Yugito spent the next few hours talking to me about her life and asking questions about my life and a few questions about Naruto.

She was actually very easy to get along with, she was smart and funny, I even flirted a little with her. She did blush a little but just called me stupid.

After a few drinks the rest of the night became a bit of a blur. I woke up the next morning in Yugito's apartment and no we didn't do 'it' I slept on her sofa.

Yugito walked in the room she looked as hungover as I felt.

"Morning" Yugito sleepily said.

"Morning" I replied.

"The Raikage has sent a message he wants to see you" I wasn't surprised, I felt someone meet her a few minutes ago.

"Sure I'll head there now. That's for lending me your sofa" I put my jacket on and headed to the door.

"Anytime" she said quietly, I almost didn't hear her.
