The plan was simple if a mist shinobi was accompanying them. Ken was going to annoy him so much that he would want to get out of here. If that was not enough, Shikuro was also going to intimate him and scare him away.
This would be helpful for them as the chunin would try to stay away from them and avoid them which would make it easier for them to replace themselves with a shadow clone.
Their mission progressed smoothly. They did not have any trouble. When they were on their way back, they switched themselves with their shadow clones. Luckily for them, Aô was not on the border duty.
They then traveled for a few hours where they met Jiraiya at a predetermined place.
"You kids continue to impress me, not even a hint of fear even when we are going to face so many shinobis. You remind me of my students." Jiraiya said with a hint of melancholy in his voice.
"Are you talking about Lord Fourth?"
"Yes and someone else. Anyways, Let's get moving. I only know the general location of where they would be ambushing Pakura. We still need to find the exact location. We don't have much time too. We don't want to be late." Jiraiya said as started running while team Shikuro followed him.
After reaching a cave, Jiraiya stopped and looked at Shikuro "You know what to do right?"
"Yes" From Shikuro's gourd insects started coming out and spread in all directions.
"While the insects find the location of the ambush, I will be creating a seal tag that would prevent the mist sensors from sensing us. Come on kids, You should watch me do it. You might learn something from this." Jiraiya said as he took out some empty seal tags and started doing his job.
Ken readily watched Jiraiya write the seal characters on the tags. During the last year, he had trained under a fuinjutsu master and had learned a lot under him. But it was the first time he saw a fuinjutsu grandmaster in action.
He wanted to see the difference between a fuinjutsu grandmaster and a master and he was not disappointed since the difference was massive. Jiraiya could write the seals without using any ink instead he used his own chakra to do it.
Ken was fascinated by it. After he was done creating the seals, he placed each of the tags on himself and the others.
He then explained "This is one of the best fuinjutsu seals that I know of. It blocks the sensor-nin from sensing us as it masks the presence of our chakra and hides our body's presence. The reason that I have not created it before leaving the village is because the seal stores chakra in it and would lose the chakra continuously even if it's not being used."
"But if someone focuses his or her chakra field completely on you, They would be able be sense you. It also does not prevent you from being seen by a Byakugan."
After Jiraiya explained this, he sat down and he took out his notebook to write about some 'research' that he collected during his journey to the land of Water.
Ken walked up to him and he put his hand forward "Do you have it?"
Jiraiya hesitated before he nodded and asked "I am giving you the book that is meant for teenagers and not adults. Do you understand the risk that I am taking by giving you the book? Do you promise never to tell about this to your mom and dad? If you do they will kill me."
"Only my mom and dad? What about grandpa?" Ken asked
'That old man himself is a big pervert. I am pretty sure that he would take the book for himself if he found it.' Jiraiya thought as somewhere an old man sneezed.
"Just promise me not to tell anyone that I was the one that gave you the book."
"I promise!" Ken said as his eyes glimmered seeing the book. Although he still was not a teen, it would not take long for his testosterones to start acting up.
Insects entered the cave as they approached Shikuro.
"My insects have found the mist forces hiding behind the top of the mountain while a couple of them are down below waiting in the valley. They are likely going to backstab her and catch her off guard. She is not a sensor so she would not be able to sense anything amiss. We would have to leave now. Pakura could be there anytime." Shikuro communicated the intel to the others.
"Alright lads, Let the adults do the heavy lifting and stay in a formation at the back. While we have decided to take you on the mission, it is mostly to make it easier to enter the land of Water and to convince Pakura. Your job is to protect yourself first." Jiraiya said in a serious tone.
"I understand that you are saying it for our safety and we would follow your instructions." Ken seriously said
Shikuro was shocked to his core hearing this.
'Ken would follow instructions? What Jutsu did Jiraiya san use to make Ken agree to him so easily? There should definitely be something amiss.'
Ken continued "But..."
'And here it is,' Shikuro internally sighed.
"But can we at least make a good first impression on her? After all, if we just stay back, how would we be able to sway her to our side?" Ken put his point forward to Jiraiya who gave it a thought before accepting Ken's notion.
"Alright, We will discuss the plan on our way. Let's go and save Pakura and bring her to Konoha's side." Jiraiya said as the five moved out.
