Chapter 19: Lava Release (1)

Another three months passed as Ken continued to train the eight jutsus that he had learned.

Currently, all of Ken's shadow clones were performing the Earth dome jutsu.

Ken dispersed them and had a smile on his face as he fist-pumped "Finallyyyyy, This was the last jutsu that I needed to reduce the hand signs for."

All the eight jutsus had six hand seals initially. Ken has managed to reduce the hand signs of all the jutsus to just three seals.

This progress was thanks to the five clones that he could now create before suffering from a backlash.

Hieuzen who was keeping a watchful eye on Ken from the Hokage office using the crystal ball jutsu was surprised as well as proud to see Ken's progress.

'He can master eight jutsus and reduce their hand signs to such a degree in such a short time. It looks like it's time for me to teach him about his Kekkei Genkai.' Hiruzen thought as he created a shadow clone which he left to handle his hokage duties.

He then body flickered towards Ken

"Good job Ken." The sudden voice startled Ken as he turned back to see his grandpa.

"It seems you are now ready to start the training for your Lava release." Hiruzen said with a smile

Hearing this Ken got even more excited as he wanted to try to use his Lava release in forever. Now he can finally do it.

Hiruzen started explaining Ken about the lava release.

"It's a misconception that kekkei genkai users would have to use double the chakra to use a jutsu. Let's take your lava style for example."

"Some believe that to do a lava-style jutsu you would have to combine both fire chakra and earth chakra which is correct. But the amount of the chakra you have to use from both the chakra natures is to be divided in half."

"For a jutsu that would take 100 units of your chakra, You don't have to use 100 units to form its fire nature component and another 100 units to form its earth nature component. You need to combine it in equal units i.e. 50 units equally of both the chakra natures."

"This is true for most of kekkei genkais but Lava release is a little different. Of course, It is only to use normal lava style."

"In my many years of being a shinobi, I have seen many Lava style users. Most of them have their way of using lava release. But since you are my grandson, I expect you to master all of them Hahaha." Hiruzen laughed

'I know all of this Grandpa. Just tell me how to use lava release already ughhh.' Ken thought frustated.

"Alright, first we will start with the normal lava release. That is composed of solid rocks covered in flames with a high temperature. Konoha has a couple of jutsu scrolls for lava release that we have managed to get in the past seventy years. So you are quite in luck. But sadly all ice jutsus scrolls are held by the Yuki clan as their clan secret. Thus, You won't be getting any help for ice release."

'I know a couple of jutsus of ice release that Haku used in anime so I am not really worried about that.'

"The first Jutsu is lava style: Scorching rocks jutsu. It is similar to the fire-style phoenix flower jutsu. The difference is that the shuriken inside the flames are changed by rocks and the temperature of the flames is increased by a great margin. The rocks are also tough and hit pretty hard." Hiruzen said as he gave him the scroll for the jutsu to memorize the hand signs

The jutsu had a total of 10 hand signs which was quite a lot considering this jutsu is considered a C-rank jutsu. However, according to Hiruzen, Kekkei Genkai jutsus have a higher power than their said rank.

After seeing that Ken has learned the hand signs.

"Now focus on my instructions. I might not have a kekkei genkai but I still know more about how to use them than most of the kekkei genkai users." Hiruzen said with a hint of arrogance

"Quit boasting Grandpa and just teach me already." Ken complained

"Young ones these days don't have much patience. Anyways, now mold fire-release chakra and earth-style chakra inside you. Combine them in equal proportions. Then after you perform the hand signs. Throw the scorching rocks from your mouth. Now try it." Hiruzen said

Despite how easy it sounded, it was quite tough. Molding fire-release chakra and earth-release chakra was quite easy. In fact, it came easily to him likely because of his Kekkei Genkai.

The problem came in mixing them in equal proportions. He sometimes added more fire-release chakra than the earth-release chakra or sometimes the other way round.

He had to repeat this step again and again until he managed to do so. Once he managed to do so, he did the hand signs for the jutsu.

'Lava Style: Scorching rocks jutsu'

Ken released several rocks covered in flames on the target dummies that his grandpa had placed.

Each one was hit by it as they exploded into flames burning them in seconds compared to normal flames.

That was not all the rocks inside the flames did not stop after smashing the dummies. They smashed the ground a little far away leaving flames and destruction in its wake. Thankfully, Hiruzen had expected this and has thus used a training ground far away from forests.

"Good job Ken," Hiruzen praised Ken's performance with a smile.
