The news of the Chunin Exams being held in the Land of Iron had sparked excitement and tension within Team 7 and Team Guy. They were given three weeks to train before their departure in the final week. Each member of the team was driven to improve, knowing that the competition would be fierce, with Genin from other villages participating.
Kakashi had shifted his usual laid-back demeanor, taking their training more seriously than ever. On the training field, Naruko and Hitomi were diligently practicing the jutsu Kakashi assigned to them.
Naruko stood under the shade of a tall tree, forming hand seals with a look of pure concentration on her face. Her blonde ponytails swayed behind her as she shouted. "Shadow Clone Explosion Jutsu!" A shadow clone formed besides her and rushed toward a wooden target and exploded into a fiery blast.
Naruko pumped her fist into the air. "Yes! I got it this time!" she exclaimed before turning to Kakashi. "See that, Sensei? Just a little more, and I'll be blasting my way through the exams!"
Kakashi nodded, an eye crinkling with approval. "Good progress, Naruko, but don't get overconfident. Precision is just as important as power. Keep at it."
'Man, she's going to be a nightmare for anyone who underestimates her, and if she learnt to super charge it then it will be pure hell to fight her.' Kakashi thought, a bead of sweat forming as he imagined her creating hundreds of super charged exploding clones in the heat of battle.
A little farther away, Hitomi was panting heavily, her Sharingan active. Sparks of electricity danced in her hands as she practiced channeling chakra for Chidori.
"Focus on the speed of your approach, Hitomi," Kakashi advised, standing nearby with his arms crossed. "You'll need to strike with both precision and momentum. Without that, Chidori's full potential won't be realized."
"Yes, Sensei!" Hitomi replied. She bolted toward the practice dummy, her chakra screaming like a thousand birds as her Chidori struck its target.
Meanwhile, Yuto was locked in an intense sparring session with Kakashi. In his hand, a gleaming sword crackled faintly with chakra. His movements were precise yet fluid, his Kamigan allowing him to analyze and adapt to Kakashi's strikes in real-time.
Kakashi lunged forward with a calculated swing, and Yuto parried, the clash of their blades echoing across the field as winds flew out from the clash, forcing them to jump back.
"You're picking this up faster than I expected," Kakashi commented, pressing harder with his strikes. "But don't just rely on your eyes, Yuto. Feel the flow of chakra through your blade. Let it become an extension of yourself."
Yuto gritted his teeth, countering Kakashi's thrust with a sidestep and a counter-slash. "Understood, Sensei! But you're making this a little too easy for me!"
Kakashi smirked beneath his mask. "Is that so?" With a burst of speed, Kakashi shifted his stance and unleashed a flurry of strikes, forcing Yuto to go on the defensive.
'He's testing me. Fine, let's see how far I can push this!' Yuto thought as he adjusted his grip, channeling chakra more evenly through his blade.
The sparring session ended with Yuto barely managing to block Kakashi's final strike, both combatants breathing heavily.
"Good. Keep practicing the basics of chakra flow for now," Kakashi instructed, sheathing his blade. "Once you've mastered that, we'll move on to flowing elemental chakra through your sword. You're on the right track."
"Thank you, Sensei," Yuto replied, bowing slightly.
At home, Yuto had a different kind of training taking place. Inside his room, 20 shadow clones were hard at work. Ten were dedicated to learning fuinjutsu, their hands deftly scribbling seals on scrolls while muttering formulas.
"Hey, this seal is off by a fraction! Fix it!" one clone barked at another.
"Clone slavery," one clone grumbled under its breath as it diligently traced intricate patterns.
The other ten clones were focused on the Rasengan training. A pile of popped water balloons lay to the side, a testament to Yuto's progress.
In the middle of the room, Yuto himself was staring at a rubber ball, sweat trickling down his temple. 'The first step was easy, but this one's a little difficult. I have to focus more on rotation and power.'
He poured chakra into the ball, trying to create a consistent and violent rotation. The rubber creaked under the pressure, but it didn't burst.
"Not enough," Yuto muttered, gritting his teeth. "I need to push harder!"
One of the clones rolled its eyes. "Come on, boss. We've been at this for hours. Give us a break!"
Yuto smirked. "No breaks. We've got one month until the Chunin Exams. I'm not wasting a single second."
While Yuto and his teammates were immersed in their rigorous training, the shadows moved quietly, plotting the future of the shinobi world. Deep within the hidden corridors of Konoha, Danzo Shimura sat in his dimly lit office. His single visible eye glinted coldly as he observed the figure standing before him.
"Orochimaru," Danzo began, his tone measured and laced with suspicion. "You've finally returned. I trust this isn't a waste of my time."
The man in question, Orochimaru, stood with an unsettling smile curling on his pale face. His golden eyes glimmered with amusement as he stepped closer, his voice smooth and serpentine.
"Danzo," Orochimaru drawled, "your impatience hasn't dulled over the years. I have good news. The arm you so desire, infused with Sharingan and Hashirama's cells, is complete. However…"
He let the word hang in the air, a calculated pause meant to draw Danzo's attention further.
Danzo's eye narrowed. "However?"
Orochimaru's smile widened, revealing his sharp, snake-like teeth. "I will only hand it over once you fulfill your part of the agreement—Hiruzen's death."
Danzo's fingers drummed on his desk, his expression unreadable. "You're bold, Orochimaru, to plan an assassination during the Chunin Exams, especially when they're being held in the Land of Iron. Do you realize the risk? All five Kage may be present. Their eyes will be everywhere."
Orochimaru chuckled, a low, sinister sound. "Risks are what make life interesting, wouldn't you agree? Besides, the presence of the Kage only makes it sweeter. Imagine the chaos when the so-called God of Shinobi is struck down before their very eyes. A spectacle worthy of history."
Danzo's lips pressed into a thin line. "You're playing a dangerous game, Orochimaru. If you fail, you'll bring destruction upon yourself and compromise my position. I'm not interested in reckless endeavors. I expect results."
Orochimaru's eyes glinted with malice. "Oh, I will deliver results, Danzo. But you must hold up your end. Send your ROOT operatives disguised as my Sound Village ninja. Their presence will ensure everything goes smoothly."
Danzo's gaze remained unflinching. "And what's to stop you from turning on me once Hiruzen is dead?"
Orochimaru chuckled again, his tongue flicking out briefly. "Danzo, Danzo… You wound me. Have I not always been a man of my word?"
Danzo snorted, unconvinced. "Your words are as slippery as your serpentine nature. But fine. I'll send my men. However, if you fail or go back on your promise, I'll ensure you regret it. Hiruzen's death is only the beginning of what I require. Once it's done, I expect my arm to be delivered immediately."
"Of course," Orochimaru replied smoothly, bowing his head slightly, though the grin on his face suggested he wasn't entirely sincere. "A deal is a deal. I look forward to our mutual success."
Danzo leaned back in his chair, his gaze sharp and calculating. "Ensure you don't miss your chance, Orochimaru. Hiruzen must die during the exams. No excuses. I want results, not excuses."
Orochimaru turned, his voice echoing in the dim room as he departed. "Rest assured, Danzo. Hiruzen's time is running out. Soon, the shinobi world will be reshaped, and both of us will have what we desire."
As the door closed behind Orochimaru, Danzo's expression darkened. He steepled his fingers, his mind racing through contingency plans. 'Foolish snake. He underestimates the true extent of my ambition. Let him believe I'm his pawn for now. Once Hiruzen is gone, Konoha will be mine to control.'
In the shadows, the seeds of betrayal were sown, and the storm clouds of conflict began to gather over the Land of Iron.
