Chapter 4: A Promise!

Later that day

Illumi made his way to the Uchiha training grounds and was soon greeted by the sight of Fujime, Fugaku, Matsuri (Fugaku's mom), Katsuyu (Kagami's Wife) conversing over some tea.

His mother was supposed to be here, but she suddenly locked herself into her room saying she didn't feel well.

"Hey There! How're you doing, Brat? You look like you've been getting stronger!"

Fujime had his usual strong and proud demeanor. He smiled, Looking at his beloved nephew.

"I am doing splendid, Uncle Fujime."

A small boy with a haughty expression walked up to Illumi from behind Fujime. Their eyes locked and tension filled the air.

This was Fugaku, who looked as confident in himself as always.

"Ni-san, today I'll show you and everyone here that I'm superprior"

Due to Illumi's consistent relationship in Fugaku's life and him being so mentally adult like, Fugaku refers to him as nii-san (big brother).

"We'll see about that imouto"

Hearing Illumi call him little sister triggered something deep down within him as he made an angry expression.

"Stop calling me that!"

Everyone laughed cheerfully.

"Hmph"

Fugaku looked away, and Kaname spoke up from behind his mother, a little nervous.

How are you doing elder brother? Can we spar later on?"

Illumi smiled and nodded.

"No problem! You look like you've been working hard, Kaname."

Kaname smiled, Illumi was like a shining star in his eyes like his name implied and he looked up to him more than anything else. He would also copy one of his hobbies to read chakra theories, history and other useful knowledge that'll bear fruit later on.

Interrupting the three cousin's chatter, Fujime cleared his throat and took out some pieces of paper from his pocket.

"Now then, let's get down to business."

"You only need to let your chakra flow through the paper, and depending on what happens will determine your set nature."

He then took out another paper and released chakra into it performing a demonstration. The paper was ignited and turned into ash.

Illumi knew what that meant, but Fugaku and Kaname gasped in shock.

"So you're chakra nature is fire?"

This once again shocked the crowd, if you weren't sure he was genius material think again.

"Yes exactly! I see you've been studying, keep it up."

"My turn"

Unable to wait, Fugaku closed his eyes and let his chakra flow through the paper. It ignited but then turned into dirt as it crumbled under the fire, leaving a strong dirt smell in the air.

Fujime looked like he was struck by lightning looking as he looked at his son.

"Congratulations, son. You're a once in a million talent! In addition to fire, you also possess another affinity earth!"

Fugaku smirked and looked at Kaname and Illumi with provocation in his eyes. There was no way that they could beat him now.

Kaname being next then grabbed the paper, funneling his chakra through it as it ignited and became wet, then a small red bolt of lightning zapped the paper wrinkling it, next the wrinkle made a black dot in the middle showing yin nature.

Seeing this, Fujime's jaw dropped.

"We have a quadruple affinity genius! A generational talent!"

Fugaku and Kaname had looks of confusion as Fujime got all excited.

"Kaname, this means that your chakra has four natures. Fire, a strong lightning affinity, water and yin which lays outside of the 5 element spectrum and lays in between yin and yang, yin being the mind and spirit mainly used for Genjutsu whilst yang the body and will."

Fugaku quickly became jealous of his father's show of affection. Then Illumi rushed over, grabbed a paper and shoved his chakra into it. What happened next left everyone stunned…

The whole paper turned pitch black with a face of a oni in the center then after a couple of seconds turned pure white with a face of a winged creature, indicating a strong yin-yang. Next the paper ignited, engulfing the paper in a strong darkish crimson flame.

Matsuri gasped, Katsuyu was visibly shaking and Fugaku's eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets as all their jaws dropped onto the floor.

"Y-you're n-not from here are you?"

Playing along Illumi mumbled "damnit, secret's out."

"I knew it, at six months he could speak, walk and was potty trained." Now, it was Fugaku's and Kaname's turn to be shocked.

"I-impossible, you've had a head start from since then." Fugaku and Kaname said at the same time.

"Hey I was just joking about my cover being blown. What's the shock?"

"You have three affinities, A fierce yin-yang release and a strong fire release. Normally Uchiha's never have yang but you're an exception."

I knew what this meant I just played along. To think I'll have such strong affinities, I was truly happy. This determined my skill set as a shinobi!

"Oh, I see…"

Everyone stood shook. He was intelligent, people knew he was smart enough to understand what this meant and he played nonchalant. Every moment with this kid was utterly nerve racking, if they weren't Jonin's they would've died from heart attacks left and right by now.

Now that Illumi thought about it ever since he pushed his chakra in the paper it was like something awakened into him. He could see the heat in someone's body and also had some sort of chakra sensory, but it was faint.

'This… power' he thought as he clenched his fist he would keep this a secret of course, at least for now"

Fugaku felt as if he was finally going to beat Illumi in something, but his hopes were crushed. Fugaku was strong for a four year old and exceptionally intelligent as well. He was a prodigy, but is constantly outshined by his elder cousin Illumi.

Same for Kaname he's smart, talented but due to his cousin's constantly outshining him he's developed a passive personality and is kinda shy. He stays in the background not really showing off, but he's a prodigy too, but since Illumi set the standard so high for prodigy's it's like he's average compared to him.

Fujime took a deep breath to control his nerves and continued speaking in a serious tone.

"Congratulations to you three! Your future training will be overseen by Jirou and I. We will train you three before the academy starts and after you enroll, as you three are the hopes of our clan."

"Hai!" The three boy's shouted, they couldn't help but be excited.

Now Illumi couldn't wait to unlock his sharingan he'll really be ahead of people in the academy and maybe even some genins. He couldn't wait!!!

Once they were done, all of them sat down, talked and continued to have tea. Although his parents weren't there, Illumi enjoyed the company of his family.

It was then that a ninja appeared next to Fujime, whispering something into his ear and vanishing immediately after.

Fujime's expression went ghastly. He was silent for a while, even tears ran down his face as he tried to cover his eyes.

The other's were curious about what was going on but kept their mouths shut, while Illumi was having the time of his life interacting with his family.

Finally Fujime looked back up, gathering the attention of Illumi, Kaname and Fugaku.

"Guy's… I'm very sorry to tell you this."

Illumi had no idea what he was talking about but based on his tone of voice it couldn't be good.

Taking the deepest breath he ever has, Fujime spoke.

"J-Jirou.. h-he's dead. The Raikage's brat 'A' killed him"

Illumi felt like his heart skipped a couple beats as his heart dropped into his gut. He felt like his soul was snatched. Kaname too, this was his father figure after his father's death. For Jirou to die was painful as it was for Illumi. Everyone else had plastered looks on their faces.

Fugaku had a deep bond with his uncle but not on the level as Kaname and Illumi. Holding himself up Fujime walked painfully to his nephew and godson Kaname and placed a hand on their shoulders. He could see the hurt on their faces.

"The funeral will take place tomorrow. I'm sorry for your loss…"

Fujime wasn't an emotional man, but the loss of a brother took a piece of him, he failed as the elder brother. It was the hardest blow since the death of their parents. Now it was his duty to take care of what he left behind.

He gestured for everyone to leave Kaname and Illumi alone, while he made his way to a secluded rooftop.

Letting his feet dangle, he looked at the sky, a resigned expression plastered on his face.

He closed his eyes, and slowly, tears started water falling down his face.

When he opened them again, his eyes changed, displaying a single tomoe pattern. It was none other than the sharingan.

"Father… On everything I love I will avenge you. I swear it on my soul."
