Vision 9 - Assistant (3)

It was about to be seven in the morning. After having a great breakfast, I went down to the reception. As I expected, Todd was there sitting at the reception desk.

" Goodmorning Todd. "

I greeted him with a refreshing smile. Todd looked at me and then he looked at the person behind me. Seeing him he frowned just a little.

" Goodmorning, Assistant professor. "

I am an official assistant professor now. It was a cringy title in my opinion but that was still my title, for now. I nodded my head in response.

" Todd I require a student registration form. "

" Is it for the person behind you? "

He is smart, he knew why I asked for the registration form. If it isn't for the fact that he is an assassin. I would have wanted him to be my butler or something.

" Sir Arthur. "

" What? "

Ducas called to me. He was opening and closing his mouth repeatedly, as if he was trying to say something. Then I thought that maybe he thinks he is too old to go to school.

" What is it? You don't want to join the school? "

I calmly asked the question. It felt like I was scolding a child who is trying to make excuses so that he doesn't have to go to school. Ducas shook his head.

" No. It is just... I don't have money to afford it. "

Ah... It made more sense. Since he had no money of his own he could not afford the payments for the school. I forgot that you require to pay the school fees.

" Money is not the problem. Todd, give him a form, and also, register him on a research course. "

Money was not the problem. I will get a decent salary from the assistant job, and I already have wealth more than anyone on the continent.

" Why research course? "

Ducas asked why I asked to register him on a research course. It was indeed a little weird to put someone like him into a research course. His ideal course would have to be a battle course.

'Trivia' had three main courses to which students can apply. Battle, Research, and Magic, there were other courses related to art as well. I registered Ducas on research because there were people in Trivia who can be good firepower for the future.

Also, I thought about him yesterday. Ducas was following me because he didn't have anyone else he could consider close, so, I just need to make him associate with other people.

I let him stay with me but I am not going to be a babysitter and take care of him. I will give him the opportunity to associate with people whom he could call friends, that way he won't be baggage for me.

I looked at Ducas, he was looking at me, waiting for my answer.

" Isn't it better to learn different things? You should try it while you have the chance. "

Ducas's eyes sparkled at my word. Although he is already good at battle, hearing my answer he might be thinking that learning new things might actually be fun, but he doesn't know how wrong he is. The research course is extremely difficult and requires interest to keep continuing the research.

Todd looked between Ducas and me. He had an uninterested expression, he didn't care who will get registered in what course.

Since it was already about to be seven, I need to go to Lisa's office. I told Ducas to fill out the registration form and go with Todd. So that he could settle in the student dorm instead of crashing on my couch.

Ducas wanted to say something, it was probably about the dorm. I ignored him and walked toward Lisa's office.

I reached the office door and knocked on the door. It was sharp seven in the morning now. After I knocked, Lisa's voice came from inside.

" Come in. "

I opened the door and walked inside, but just before my foot went inside the room, messages appeared in front of me.

And then just like last time, after I went inside ignoring the messages, a message similar to yesterday appeared.

The barrier item on Lisa's office is blocking the drone's view. Items effect was absolute. Even if Nubecula had the power to destroy it, they can not do anything about it, unless there were willing to face the penalty for interfering.

Inside the office, everything was the same as yesterday. Lisa was sitting in front of the office desk, and a white cat was laying on the couch.

*Meow*

Hekate, in the form of a White cat, meowed towards me. I smiled at the Nubecula who pretending to be the cat.

" Good morning Headmaster. Good morning Misa Lisa. "

Hekate looked at me with her blue eyes. She looked adorable, but I am sure she is trying to analyze me. She might be trying to find the reason for her attraction toward me.

" Close the door, and come inside. "

Lisa's sharp voice reached my ears. I closed the door and walked toward her. She looked at me, I was wearing the cloak, it was different from yesterday. Lisa did not show any reaction and pulled out a pile of files from below the desk.

A got a message, and then a pile of flies flew towards me. I caught it in my hands.

" These are the files of students who applied for the Magic course, sort it out. "

" Who applied for the course? but the magic course is a mandatory course. "

'Trivia' was a school of magic and arts. Obviously, it was compulsory to attend magic course classes. Although from what I remember Lisa never care about who attended and who doesn't. She was only interested in her own research.

" Yes, but I still want to know who is interested to take the course. "

I thought about it for a second, that made sense. She has to teach the class, so she at least had to know who were the students that applied for the course. I nodded my head.

" So where do I take these to start the work? "

" Take the room opposite to mine. It was already cleaned and has all the things you might need. "

" Okay. I will do it as fast as possible and come back. "

Lisa nodded her head without looking at me. It will be difficult to gain her affection like this. Anyway, it will not happen in an instant. I will try to gain her trust. I tried to be optimistic.

Holding the files in my arms, I smiled at the Hekate and walked out of the office.

I ignored him and walked to the opposite door across the hall. It had one title written on it, that is, 'Assistant'. I guess this is my room.

I went inside, the room was pretty decent. It was half the size of Lisa's office, with one desk and chair, one bookshelf, one couch, and a table.

I walked over to the table and put the file over it. The file smashing over the wood made a bang sound.

" I had to sort out the student list. "

It was funny that a Nubecula was sympathizing with me for something like this. I guess he also had to do lame stuff for his superior Archangels.

I sat down on the chair behind the office desk, and I went through the list of the students applying for the Magic course.

According to the list, I had files of almost ninety students with me. That is the number of students applying for the course. There were not many students according to the total number of student in each year, but the list was still very long.

I overlook the entire list in one motion. I was not paying much attention as I was looking for some specific names.

'Found them.'

Two names caught my attention. One was Valerie Blackmore and another one was Felicia Tull.

According to what I saw in my dreams. They both were the ones that were the most capable in magic and worked harder than anyone to become Lisa's assistants. Lisa never chose anyone, but now I hold the position which no one manage to secure.

It might cause a problem for me. Valerie and Felicia had no prejudice on the outside, but there was an unspoken competition among them. I honestly want to avoid getting between them.

After half hour later, I sort all the files Lisa gave me and I went to her office to give the files back. I placed the files in the corner of her room, when suddenly Lisa asked me a question.

" Anyone caught your attention from the list? "

Lisa asked for my opinion about the students. It might have been just her curiosity or she was trying to test me.

" There were many talented students. I guess students named Valerie and Felicia were exceptional among them. "

It was the right answer. I honestly answered her question, Valerie and Felicia are top students. Their main attributes were different, Valerie was technically a mage and Felicia was a battle mage.

Even so, they both had magic as the main source of power. Lisa nodded her head and went to her work.

" What should I do now Miss Lisa? "

I asked with a sincere smile. I honestly did not know what I should be doing. I have never worked before like this. Even on earth I mostly spend my time writing the novel or doing stuff I could do on my computer like coding for games or developing software.

" The classes will start the day after tomorrow. Prepare basic lecture points for the class. "

" What is the topic of the lecture? "

I did not ask or complain anything about Lisa giving me a task to prepare for the whole lecture. This job was originally supposed to be very difficult, I was nervous obviously but I showed a confident look.

She looked at me and then she smiled, even though a light one, it was a bright smile. No one would have even noticed it if weren't paying close attention. She might have expected me to show some reluctance. She pointed towards the papers inside a cardboard box placed in the corner of the room beside one bookshelf.

" Since it is the first lecture, the topic is 'Introduction of magic'. "

I nodded my head and walked to the box to pick it up.

" There is everything you need to know, read it. You will help me with the lecture and help students in the class. "

Lisa had already made the necessary preparation, I already knew that. She always prepares one week ahead so that the lecture does not hinder her research.

" Yes, Miss Lisa. "

" Call me Professor. "

I smiled and went back to my own office. I took out the paper from the box, it had all information about the lecture.

It is time to study.

After three hours of reading, I was mentally exhausted. I already knew all the basic information since I watched this world in my dreams for almost a decade, that is the reason I was not worried about the lecture.

I thought it will not be difficult, but these materials Lisa gave me were by no means basic. I knew she is strict and her lessons were supposed to be difficult, but watching that as a dream and actually learning it was a completely different experience.

Sigh...

I sigh left my mouth from exhaustion and then I heard someone snickering.

Persephone was sitting across from me. She was just watching me without saying anything, it was not a problem since it was quite and I was able to focus on my work.

" I think you look more handsome working so serious like that. "

Persephone answered with a smile. If I didn't have a Soul Contract with her, I would have actually thought that she was serious. But even so, it was not bad. Who doesn't like compliments?
