Chapter 4 Suspicious box

"Can you shut your mouth or should I help you? I want to study," Mason replied as he picked up his coffee.

"Why do you love reading so much? Why don't you try and make friends mmmh?"

"Books are more reliable than friends," he replied.

Mason lived a boring life truth be told, aside from studying he would go to work in his father's company and attend meetings on his behalf. He wasn't sixteen years old yet but Mason had already grasped every loop hole and sly way used by prominent businessmen.

"What are you even reading?" Miles asked curiously. The book he was reading felt a bit different from his usual business magazines.

"I'm studying law," he replied flipping the pages.

"And why would you study law? Wait do you want to be a lawyer?" Miles asked in confusion.

"Just because I might use this knowledge someday," Mason replied.

"Why do people like you have everything? Money, looks, brains tch!" Miles sighed heavily.

"If you use your brain in books you might understand,"

"Fine, let's make a deal," Miles said furiously.

"Sure, what deal?"

"If I defeat you in just one exam you have to stop teasing me,"

"Not interested,"

"Why?"

"I don't make deals that won't give me any profits," Mason replied nonchalantly. That was the rule in the business world and also his rule. Before he did anything he had to make profits and benefits for himself this was why everyone claimed that he would be a mogul in the future.

"Aaah! Fine how about this, I will help you get closer to your lover," Miles said.

"Not interested,"

"But why?" He whined.

"You? How can I trust you to do that when you don't even know what love is," Mason chuckled lightly.

"Just wait and see I'll show you, Mason Armani,"

"Sure, show me," Mason smirked because he knew one thing that wasn't possible.

In his dictionary, if he wasn't number one then he would rather stop fighting that was his rule. He had to be the best in everything.

He was good at everything but of course, when it came to love he would be so cowardly and foolish.

"Are you going to work after school?" Miles asked. It was the last class of the day and of course, it was on a Tuesday. Mason went to work thrice a week including today.

"Mmmh," he replied as he took down notes.

Immediately the bell rang, Mason and Miles were preparing to leave when they heard a familiar voice behind them.

"Class president, are you leaving?" Sky asked.

"Mmmh, I'm leaving,"

"Aren't we supposed to write a draft about the guests on Friday?"

"Do that, I have something to do,"

"Why should I do that alone we are supposed to work on it together," Sky said in frustration. He found Mason really annoying.

"Do the paperwork I will do the talking unless you want to change," Mason said calmly but in an authoritative voice.

"And why should I listen to you?" Sky said angrily.

"Suit yourself then I don't have time for this," after saying that, Mason walked past him bumping into his shoulders.

"I'm sorry about him, but he is really busy," Miles quickly apologized before running after Mason.

"What the hell were you doing? Did you know you just gave up your chance to spend time with him?" Miles said as he walked beside Mason.

"Then why don't you go spend time with him on my behalf," Mason said nonchalantly.

"Aaah! Jeez why did I have to make a deal with you, with this attitude do you think Sky will like you back be a bit nice how about that? No one can stand your foul mood and mouth,"

"Can't you just shut up for a second? You are so noisy," Mason replied as he placed his earphones in his ears.

"Aaah, fine I'll go with you to work, your life is so hard," Miles sighed just at the thought of that.

He worked three times a week, he was just appointed the class president, he had to keep up with his studies to maintain his position, and he had to attend family dinners and banquets during the weekend.

Thinking of all that, Miles felt that he was a bit pitiful but that was Mason's life and the truth was Mason was already used to it.

He pitied Mason when he himself wasn't any different.

"I'm leaving," Miles hurriedly said as soon as they had walked into the office. Mason stared at him and he knew one thing, Miles had planned something or was onto something suspicious.

"Why? We just arrived help me sort some books, it's been a while," Mason smirked in satisfaction seeing his ugly expression which confirmed it all.

Miles wasn't someone who would waste his time to come to work with him but since he had volunteered he was up to no good.

"Don't you have a secretary? My dad just called I want to pick up my sister from school," he said seriously.

"Oooh, since when do you pick your sister up?"

"Today hehe, I just started, she is a girl it is safer that way," he said nervously.

As he blabbered, Mason's secretary knocked on the door disrupting them.

"Come in," Mason replied.

"Mr. Armani your parcel has arrived," his secretary walked in carrying a small box.

"That was fast," Miles mumbled.

"What parcel? I didn't order anything," he replied. Mason immediately turned to Miles curiously his eyebrows slightly raised.

"Miles, what are you up to?" Mason gritted his teeth furiously.

"It's nothing, I'm leaving my father just called," Miles immediately ran towards the door as fast as he could bumping into Mason's secretary. He knew one more second, he would have been pronounced dead.

"You can leave," Mason said as he looked at the box suspiciously.

"Should I check it for you?"

"No," Mason yelled. He wasn't sure what was in the box so he couldn't let anyone see it who knew what Miles was up to.

"Then I will take my leave," as soon as the secretary walked out, Mason walked towards the box and then opened it.

He was surprised yet shocked at what he saw. It was something he didn't expect to see.

"Miles...I've been too soft on you," Mason gritted his teeth in anger.
