I didn’t expect to meet Carlos Anderson here, of all places. Wimbledon was huge, and I knew it was inevitable that our paths might cross, but I imagined it would be in the crowded stands or maybe even on the practice courts, not in the middle of this uncomfortable confrontation.
Seeing him now, standing tall and imposing, his presence only made the situation more surreal—and a lot more embarrassing for me.
My ex, Michael, and his new girlfriend, Lily, were still reeling from the sting of the slap I’d delivered to Michael’s cheek. The air was thick with tension, and Michael’s face twisted in rage. I saw his hand twitching as it was halted in mid-air, gripped firmly by another, stronger hand.
