Chapter 38- Kang Lei and MiMi WuXain

The moment Dominic arrived in the dinning area, Mimi immediately rose to her feet to greet him, her face wearing a bright smile and her appearance innocent. "Dominic you're here" she smiled brightly.

Immediately, the searing pain within Dominic's head intensified, at the smell of her pheromones, causing him to frown and hold his head in his hand. Seeing his discomfort, Mimi ran to his side and tried to comfort him, but as soon as she attempted to touch him he slapped her hand away harshly, causing her to fall back onto the floor, hurting her arm.

Dominic looked at her with no compassion and sneered, "why are you here and who told you that you could come into my home?".

MiMi, who now found a new excused to proceed with her plan, began to play the role of the pitiful victim, she held her arm close to her chest and started sobbing uncontrollably.

"I ... hic, hic... I saw the News and was worried about you, am sorry Dominic.... I didn't mean to upset you.... Not only that, but I was.... worried you would have seen all the horrible things they've been saying about you ..... hic... hic ... I just wanted to you to know that I am here for you" Mimi hung her head low as tears flowed down her cheek.

Seeing this pitiful woman, doctor Cheng went to her side and aided her to her feet, then taking a look at her injured arm. "My apology Miss Mimi, Dominic's just going through a tough time at the moment. Let me look at your arm" he said sympathetically, doctor Cheng felt remorseful towards Mimi, whom to him clearly looked as though she loved and cared for Dominic deeply.

Dominic, however, wasn't falling for it, and his days of fatigue and constant headaches had finally caught up to him, now the added presence of this vixen has pushed him over the edge. Unable to control his boiling emotions, his eyes began to turn red and his pheromones began to slowly exude ready to attack Mimi, for some reason wanted to destroy her.

However, just as he was about to lose control and before Dr Cheng had a chance to stop him, Kang Lei walked into the room pushing a trolley containing the day's lunch menu.

The second Dominic smelt Kang Lei's sweet omega pheromones, did his demeanour change. Almost instantly, did his previous days of sheer hell, battling headaches and uncontrollable rage, seem to have started to subside. Something about Kang Lei's pheromones was like a Kryptonite, soothing and drowning the fire that burned deep within Dominic.

"Just who is this man called Kang Lei" Dominic thought as his gazed became fixed on him.

The two froze the moment their eyes met, like a magnetic pull they felt an undeniable connection, but ambiguity, hesitation and one's own past has placed obstacles between them.

However, at that moment, Kang Lei was shocked when right before his eyes, he clearly saw Dominic's eyes changed colour and had now returned to its beautiful Hazel brown. Furthermore, it was clear from Dominic's physical appearance, that he had undoubtedly changed in the short time he had last seen him. A strange sense of concern overcame Kang Lie and instead of being afraid, he wanted to go to the man before him and check is he was okay?.

The two's behaviour had caught the attention of those around them, more so was that of Dr Cheng, who became puzzled yet again at how Dominic demeanour settled so rapidly. Dr Cheng moved his focus to Dominic's focal point and realisation dawned on. An unnoticeable smile came to his lips as he recalled their earlier conversations and thought to himself, "so this is the person who's captured Dominic's heart, It was no other than his new servant Omega".

Mimi too had felt the atmosphere in the room changed, so she too glanced at the direction in which Dominic and Dr Cheng were focused, utter horror and disgust could be seen on her face. Once she has recovered from her initial shock, MiMi thought to herself, "What was this bastard doing here?" Her only thought now was to drag Kang Lei outside and confront him. She never thought she would see this filthy omega again, and to make matters worst, he was working in the house of the man she wanted the most.

Once Kang Lei had shyly removed his eyes from Dominic, he felt the cold presence of someone intensely watching him.

To his dismay, he was horrified when he laid his eyes upon MiMi WuXain, right before his eyes, stood a piece of his past he had locked away in that pandoras box. Even after all these years Mimi still looked upon him with hatred in her eyes, Kang Lei's heart begun to race nervously and his hands trembled, he had never imaged this moment ever occurring, if MiMI was here that means she was after Mr Lanxian. Trying to retain his composure, he continued laying the table avoiding all around him, wishing the ground would sallow him whole.

MiMi continued to stared daggers straight at Kang Lei, she had hoped to see that same scared little brat that she use to know so long ago. However, Kang Lei's behaviour was that of unfamiliarity, Mimi was a flabbergasted Kang Lei acted as though he didn't recognise her and merely diligently continued with his task at hand, now refusing to maintain eye contact with those in the room. This made MiMi smile internally, "he's still the scared little brat after all" she mocked him in her mind.

Though, Mimi and Kang Lei thought their actions had gone unnoticed, Dominic's keen eye saw otherwise, there was an uncomfortable interaction occurring between the two. Both their pheromones were exuding hostility and some fear from Kang Lei, whereas MiMi's pheromones reaction to Kang Lei was making Dominic on edge.

Dominic was bewildered as to what was going on between the two, "do they know each other?" he wondered, according to the information or lack of information that Michael had gathered, Kang Lei was unknown, so why was Mimi WuXain reacting this way?

Dominic was sure that MiMi WuXain knew of Kang Lei's true identity, and he was determined to find out their connection, he knew asking outright was for sure not going to bring forth any answers, so he'll have to do this old-fashioned way.

The thought that Kang Lei was hiding from the likes of the WuXain's angered him. Dominic was never found of Wuxian's, as he had found out through an earlier investigation that the death of the families' omega son was suspicious. In fact, his body was never found according to the Wuxian's their son just one day disappeared and was presumed dead. Dominic saw first hand how they used this so-called tragedy to manipulate others into feeling empathetic towards them, when it's a well-known fact they shared a great dislike for omegas. For Dominic, the WuXain's were the scum of the earth, and it would be his greatest pleasure to never be associated with them in any form.

The dining room was eerily silent while lunch was being served, once Kang Lei had finished he gently bowed his head and addressed the people at the table, "Please let the kitchen know if you would require anything else", he spoke calmly, not spearing a look at anyone before swiftly exiting the room.

Mimi wanted to follow him and ask why the hell he was here, along with giving him a clear warning to stay away from what is rightfully hers. But for now, that little filthy omega will have to wait. Because her primary target today was of course Dominic Lanxian.

With no one speaking and Dominic seeming to have gone into a dazed, Mimi suddenly spoke, "Dominic I hope you don't mind... but seeing that you haven't been well recently why don..." she stopped mid-sentence, her words seems to have angered Dominic sensing from the strong pheromones he's again started to exude.

Dominic had no time for this woman, he impolitely arose from his chair, looked at Doctor Cheng and said, "my head feels better I am going to have a rest" before abruptly walking out of the room.

This greatly angered MiMi not mere moments ago, Dominic couldn't take his eyes off that filthy whore of an omega, yet he completely disregards her efforts each time. MiMi clenched her fist, trying her best to retain her now burning anger, "Kang Lei looks like I'll have to teach you a lesson once again" she planned maliciously.
