Chapter 29: The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.

Fen Xinxin looked at the direction her friends are looking at. She saw Lan Xing and Hong Yue sitting next to each other. Their distance between each other is not alarming, and the atmosphere around them is even harmonious. Yet, she can't help but feel strange when she looks at them. And this strange feeling was named when she heard what her friends said.

"A CP?" she muttered. She remembered, before, Lan Xing didn't know Hong Yue and it was her who introduced Hong Yue to Lan Xing when she saw Lan Xing was staring at Hong Yue.

(A/N: CP – means couple, friends~ but since most are not real couple, CP here is more of a ship/shipping, since you want them to be a couple lol)

"Yes! These freshmen are also cute!" one of her friends exclaimed as she showed to her the screen of her cellphone where their school's BBS can be seen. However, it's a hidden forum.

"Celestial CP is Lan Xing and Hong Yue. 'xing' for star and 'yue' for moon." Her other friend explained as she pushed up her eyeglasses that the lens shone when she glanced at the peaceful Lan Xing and Hong Yue. "Their appearance is also, truly, celestial." She added.

"Qingqing. Your nose is bleeding." Wei Lulu told Han Qingqing.

Han Qingqing immediately took out her handkerchief and wiped her nose.

Fen Xinxin. "..." these two madwomen! She thought and sighed.

"Right, Xinxin. Didn't you like Lan Xing before?" Wei Lulu said.

"What?" Han Qingqing sharply turned to Fen Xinxin.

Fen Xinxin felt a chill ran down her spine because of Han Qingqing's 'stare' (glare). "That was before. Before!" she explained to Han Qingqing who is a hardcore fujoshi. She coldly sweated when she saw Han Qingqing's eyes narrowed. She gulped. "I don't like him anymore, okay? He's young for me." she added.

"Oh." Han Qingqing said as she retracted her gaze.

"..." what 'oh'?! You clarify it with me! Fen Xinxin felt exasperated. She pulled them away when Han Qingqing looked like she doesn't want to leave.

"Hm?" Hong Yue raised his head when he felt a gaze on him. He looked around yet he didn't see any suspicious person.

Lan Xing, whose half his attention is on the anime while the other half is on Hong Yue as he watched him from the corner of his eyes, spoke. "What's wrong?" he asked when he saw Hong Yue was distracted from his work. He took off his headphone.

"... nothing." Hong Yue shook his head after he saw there's nothing out of the ordinary around. "Did I bother you?" he asked when he saw Lan Xing closed the video player. "Sorry." He said.

"No. I was hungry." Lan Xing said as he placed his laptop on his side and he stood up. "I'll buy us something." He said and left.

Hong Yue who had a heavy breakfast with Lan Xing before their first period of class. "..." it's just one period that passed, yet you're already hungry. Do you have a pit in your stomach? He thought as he watched Lan Xing's figure disappeared. He sighed and borrowed the plug-in headphone of Lan Xing and played a music before he resumed writing.

After turning in the road, Lan Xing stopped. "Fei Li." he called.

A shadow appeared next to the pillar. "Young master." He called.

"Is there any suspicious activities around?" Lan Xing asked.

"There's nothing wrong." Fei Li answered.

"Okay." Lan Xing nodded.

"... I can buy your snacks." Fei Li said. He knew their conversation through lip reading.

"No. I'll buy it. Just watch over Hong Yue." Lan Xing told him.

"Yes." Fei Li answered and hid again.

Meanwhile, as Lan Xing and Fei Li spoke, a shadow appeared behind Hong Yue. "Young master." Ye Yixu called.

Hong Yue who was about to play a music. "..." he decided to take off the headphone. "Did you notice anything suspicious?" he asked.

"A shadow lurking behind a pillar, but he isn't hostile." Ye Yixu answered.

"Who is it?" Hong Yue asked.

"A shadow guard." Ye Yixu answered and glanced at Lan Xing and Fei Li's direction.

Hong Yue can also guess it's Lan Xing's people. "You may leave." He told Ye Yixu and wore the headphone again.

"Yes." Ye Yixu answered and disappeared.

At the same time, Fei Li turned to Hong Yue's direction and saw Hong Yue is still listening to music. He resumed watching him, unaware he's under the watch of Ye Yixu.

After Lan Xing and Hong Yue ate a light breakfast, they went to their second class which is writing again. This time, Lan Xing is forced to write his own work, thus, he grievously held his pen. Fortunately, they can ask some guide from their classmate, and so he bothered Hong Yue once again.

Since Lan Xing fed him earlier, Hong Yue's patience with Lan Xing is longer this time. He also answered the questions of his classmates, and they passed their second period of class like that.

"Huh? Didn't your fiancée said she's going to attend our class?" a classmate asked Hong Yue on their way to their third period.

Their other classmates froze and coldly looked at this stupid classmate of theirs. They decided to kick him off their Celestial CP group chat later.

"Oh. Anyi?" Hong Yue said.

They immediately perked up their ears while secretly looking at Lan Xing's reaction. Look! Hong Yue intimately said the woman's name, and they're even on the first-name basis!

"She's not my fiancée." Hong Yue said.

"Huh?"

"She's my childhood friend... well, she can also be called my little sister... or is it elder sister?" Hong Yue said before he laughed. "Anyway, we're like siblings. Her as my fiancée is impossible." He told them.

They felt a gossip is about to start. "Why is it impossible?" they asked. "You're not blood-related, right?" they said.

"We're not." Hong Yue answered. "We're impossible because..." he said and paused.

"'because'?" they asked. This time, even Lan Xing turned to him and waited for his answer.

"I'm not worthy of her." Hong Yue said.
