Nine hundred miles later, and a good night's sleep did the magic for him.

Abel woke up to a fresh dawn in Kansas City. He yawned hungrily as he rubbed his overslept eyes.

From the bed, he could see tiny streaks of light already spilling into the hotel room.

It was late!

That was a word he was not so used to paying attention to; now, though, he could not afford anything less.

Things had changed dramatically, and he had suddenly found himself running dangerously low on cash. It made him feel deeply ashamed, realizing that this entire journey was reliant on Hilsa's Rolex money.

By sunset today, he would be completely out of money, and he wasn't even halfway through his journey. In fact, if he didn't do something to get some, he would be stuck in Missouri, and that was not even the biggest fear; by the same sunset, he might be sleeping on the streets.

That thought kicked him into action.
