Chapter 49: From King to Queen
Hailey’s POV
Footsteps echo through the corridors as the room where Alistair has summoned us approaches and I feel my heart pounding inside my chest, but Owen's fingers reach for mine as a reassuring smile creeps up his lips, and I look at him, knowing he can feel the anxiety rising inside my chest.
“It will be all right,” he says as if to encourage me.
“Of course it will,” says a third voice that comes out of nowhere and makes us both jump. Morgan then approaches us with a calm step and both Owen and I frown as we look at her.
“Where did you come from?” we ask at the same time and she looks up from her phone to give us a mysterious smile.
“How many times do I have to say that witches are everywhere?” she says in a joking voice, and Owen looks at her with a face of few friends. I know he doesn't completely trust her, but after what happened the night before, the witch has managed to gain a good part of his trust.
