Chapter 47: Awakening
Hailey’s POV
“Owen!” I cry out in desperation, but he has disappeared from my vision. I find myself alone, lying on the ground and with the sounds of the world muffled around me, as I try to look for him, but I find it impossible. The mist has swallowed him and Tobias in the midst of the battle.
I feel the heat all over his body, but I feel it in a different way. It's not like when our skin meets each other, but instead, a heartbeat is drawn inside me that I know belongs to him. It is more sensitive than anything I have ever felt before and it is associated with another presence, a voice that beats within me and manifests itself in the midst of a consciousness that has been dormant until now.
“Hello, Hailey...” says the voice inside me, and I discover that I know it. I know who this consciousness belongs to that binds me to Owen, that allows me to feel him in the middle of the distance, as if we were one. “My name is‒”
