"Do you really trust me?" Julia knew that she should not have asked the question, but it was a compulsion she couldn’t control. The mountain of guilt had been haunting her, especially when she saw the man in front of her. She couldn't help it.

Ashton replied with a question of his own. "Shouldn't I believe you? Why? Have you been lying to me?"

Julia shuddered. She dared not look Ashton in the eyes for fear that he would see through her thoughts. Lowering her head, she tugged at Ashton's sleeve like a little child and mumbled, "No, I'm happy. I'm glad that you're willing to believe in me."

Ashton reached out to pinch her chin. His gaze was cold as his dark eyes surged with unknown emotions. "You're indeed happy."

Julia was terrified by his penetrating gaze. She couldn't help but want to retreat, but Ashton had exerted force on his fingertips so that she couldn't escape. Julia could barely resist screaming out loud, "Ashton, let go of me!"
