Setting

In the mountains of the Guang Province, there was a sect. The Immortal Sword Sect. The history of this sect was very profound. The sect was established 800 years ago by a famous Sword God, the Immortal Sword God. The Immortal Sword Sect boasted of a sword art that allowed one to rely heavily on the attack, making it their defense, thus never being hit by their enemies. The name 'Immortal', however, came from the physique of the Clan of Qui. This clan had an immortal physique, which made their bodies many times as tenacious as normal people.

Over the years, the world deteriorated. The Qi in the air degraded and became less pure. Once, talented geniuses could reach the realm of God. That stage was now far from reach.

However, the most renowned people in the current generation had only peaked at the Emperor stage. These people were old monsters who had to stay in seclusion to keep themselves alive as the last card for defending their legacies.

One of the greatest reasons for this deterioration was the Great war that happened 500 years ago. This war resulted in the decimation of many sects and the loss of valuable techniques and resources. This made it difficult to groom geniuses.

The entire world was split into three continents. The East Continent, The West Continent, and the Central Continent. The Guang Province was in the East Continent. The East Continent was the weakest of all the three continents. Even in the olden days, the East Continent had the least number of Gods. The Immortal Sword Sect in the Guang Province was only a branch in the East Continent. The main sect was located in the Central Continent. There was also a sect in the West Continent. Every ten years, the branches would have to send their greatest talents to compete for resources.

The Immortal Sword Sect was one of the most famous sects in the East Continent. The East Continent was very disorganized. The Guang Province was ruled by the Guang Dynasty. This province had 2 other major sects that were on the same level as the Immortal Sword Sect. They were the Water Dragon Sect and the Heavenly Earth Sect. They were both local sects and did not have the backing of a Central COntinent power like the Immortal Sword Sect. There were multiple smaller sects and clans that existed in the province, but the big sects did not care about them as they did not affect their functioning.

They were, however, considered as orthodox sects. To maintain their values and reputation, these major sects would send their disciples to safeguard the Province from Evil Sects. These evil sects were established at the same time as the orthodox sects, but they resorted to evil means such as sacrifice and murder to increase their power. They had to hide from the Sect's eyes as they posed a huge threat to them. Over the years, all the evil sects that were left alone wrecked a lot of havoc and sometimes even decimated sects. The sects did not interfere with the running of the Dynasty though. They did not interfere with mortal matters. They gave some respect to the Dynasty but made sure that the Dynasty wouldn't overstep their boundaries when it came to the governing of the sects. The sects only cared about an influx of talent.

There were 11 Provinces similar to the Guang Province. These provinces had major sects ranging from 2-5 in number in each of them. All the provinces had Dynasties ruling them. The only exception was the Cloud Province. This Province was ruled by the Nine Clouds Palace. This Province had one other major sect - the Yin Corpse Sect. As the Yin Corpse was a sect that was on the border of Orthodox and Evil, the Nine Cloud Sect was the more popular sect.

After the war that occurred 500 years ago, it took 400 years for the three continents to become peaceful. However, after 100 years of peace, the wheels of fate started turning.
