Before they could ponder this revelation further, a loud screech pierced the air. They both looked up to see the sky darkening, covered by a swarm of the same creatures they had faced earlier.
"They've found us," Damon said, his voice tense. "We need to hide."
Kyra grabbed Meeko, who was now awake and frightened, and led him behind to thick tree covered in snow. "Stay here and don't move," she told him firmly. "We'll protect you."
Damon shifted back into his dragon form, ready to fight, while Kyra stood beside him. The creatures swooped down, their eyes glowing with malice.
