The next day, Edward came downstairs and opened the door to the office. Just as he was about to take the morning crap, a woman wearing sunglasses walked in.
"How can I help you, ma'am?" Edward asked, forcing a smile despite tightly clutching his cheeks.
"Can you really handle any request here?" The woman inquired.
"…yes anything." Edward raised a brow,
"Close the door first," she said haughtily.
Edward didn't mind. Instead, he eagerly went to close the door, knowing that such demanding individuals were usually wealthy clients.
"I need you to obtain someone's seed for me," the woman said, removing her sunglasses. To Edward's surprise, she was the most famous amphibious actress of the modern era. She had won the Academy Award for Best Actress and was also a world-renowned singer. Rumor had it that her net worth had reached a billion dollars.
"So, it's you, the big star. Whose seed do you want?" Edward asked, wondering how he would be going to do so. Sure, he was straight but…
"The current head of the Morgan family."
"Do you know what you're asking for?"
"I know. Just tell me if you can do it," she demanded, tilting her head.
"Of course, it's possible. But you should know. As the head of the Morgan family, he is heavily guarded by the best security in the world. How much are you willing to pay for such a task?"
"A hundred million."
"That's too little. The effort and the reward are not proportional. If you're not sincere about this, there's no point in discussing it further," Edward replied.
"Five hundred million. That's my limit. If you don't agree, I'll find someone else."
"Deal. Please sign your name."
Following the usual procedure, after confirming her signature glowed, Edward told her to return in a week to collect the seed. The woman then left.
"Interesting. But Walter is busy improving the pills, and I have no other employees to help right now. System, do you have any solutions?" Edward mused to himself.
[I am sorry, host. Your permission level is too low to activate the recruit employee module. Please upgrade the office to gain higher permissions.] The system responded.
Edward had initially asked the system out of habit, not expecting a reply, considering its seemingly limited intelligence. Yet, the system responded, leading him to speculate that perhaps its intelligence might increase with the office's level. This, of course, needed verification.
With no other options, Edward decided to wander around Hell's Kitchen to see if he could find suitable employees for the job. As expected, he found no one impressive, just a bunch of misfits. Realizing he had to tackle the task alone, he began to plan.
The mission wasn't overly complicated: identify the Morgan head's schedule, kidnap him, and force him to jack the hell off. First, he needed to investigate the patriarch's itinerary, which was easily accomplished by spending some money. Soon, a schedule map was delivered to his office.
Edward examined the route carefully. The patriarch's movements were cunningly designed, always near police stations and accompanied by heavy security. Any attack would trigger a police response within three minutes. Edward had to either abduct the patriarch without alerting security or go in forcefully.
After considering various methods, Edward decided to target the Morgan estate directly, as any other location would cause too much commotion. With his plan set, he waited in his office until nightfall.
---
Night fell, and Edward received no other commissions besides this one. He wondered if his office wasn't famous enough yet, but now wasn't the time to dwell on it. He needed to focus on reaching the Morgan estate.
The Morgan family had estates in every state and even around the world, ensuring they had a secure place to stay anywhere. Naturally, they had an estate in New York City as well.
Edward rode his old motorcycle to a spot half a kilometer from the estate. He couldn't get closer due to the stringent security measures. A satellite even monitored the patriarch's surroundings, eliminating potential threats.
From his storage, Edward retrieved a specially designed suit. This suit covered his entire body, reduced his body temperature, blended with the environment, and absorbed light, perfect for stealth missions. It had cost him five million dollars.
After donning the suit, Edward slowed his breathing, located the visible and hidden sentries with his enhanced senses, and began his infiltration. He swiftly bypassed human security and then dealt with various cameras and infrared sensors.
After considerable effort, Edward finally made it into the castle within the estate. Once inside, he quickly stored the high-tech suit back in his storage, appearing as a sweaty mess since the suit was not breathable except for a small vent at the mouth. Although the suit was supposed to be worn with an inner layer, Edward had skipped buying it due to its high cost, not anticipating how stifling the suit would be.
Wiping the sweat from his face, Edward was about to enter the castle when he heard a noise. He quickly jumped to the top of the wall, pressing his legs against it for support, waiting until the maids had passed before dropping back down.
Next, he needed to find the patriarch. The castle had hundreds of rooms, so he decided to grab someone and ask. He made his way upstairs, weaving through the corridors, until he reached a room from which he heard music. After ensuring someone was inside, he checked the surroundings and quietly turned the doorknob, finding it locked.
Locks posed no challenge to Edward. As the owner of a detective agency, lockpicking was a necessary skill. Within moments, he had the door open. But what he saw inside left him frozen in place.
