Chapter 1: Anime convention and- Oh my god there are guys in my house

Third Person POV

Shade was on her computer uploading new pictures onto her website.

From Ava's room, there was muffled speaking and an alarm going off. "Oh right Ava's interviews today." Shade looked over to Johnny and walked over to Ava's door making sure not to make too much noise. Shade pointed into the room while Johnny walked inside.

After closing the door again Shade sat back down on the couch and uploaded the last picture. Shades corgi Spyro walked out of Shades' room and hopped onto her stomach.

Shade wheezed at the sudden pressure on her stomach and petted Spyro while watching Ava's door.

More speaking came from Ava's room and a loud scratching sound and a yell. Shade flinched and turned to look at her phone. Ok, it's like 7 am I have enough time to change and go to the convention. Ava walked into the living room talking on the phone.

Like a good sister would Shade listened in on Ava's side of the conversation while opening the book she was reading on her computer.

"Yes I know, I normally sleep in, but I've got a job interview today" Ava let out a breathless chuckle. "Well, I just said I have a job interview. I'm not interested in going to an anime convention on such a stressful day. I don't care if it's just down the street. Or if Shade's going, I live with her." Ava turned toward Shade and spoke while slightly raising her voice. Realizing what she said, Shade gasped putting a hand to her chest with a smile evident on her face. "Heh, Lorelai, I know I'm boring. But you're annoying so we're even" Ava muttered. "Nothing, nothing I was just talking to Shade." She laughed "I'm hanging up now, byeee." Ava hung up the phone before Lorelai could get another word in.

Spyro hopped off of Shade's stomach and again made Shade wheeze. She pushed her glasses up on her face. (I literally forgot what glasses I chose from Pinterest) "Ugh, it's too early to deal with life," Ava complained as she faced her.

"Welp. We, don't have a choice. You have an interview and I gotta get Marlene" Shade responded. "Anyway, I need to go get changed for the anime convention."

Shade walked to her bedroom with Spyro in tow.

During Shade and Ava's conversation, Johnny brought over his food bowl and pushed it against Ava's feet. "Huh? How did you carry that thing? Oh, right I ran out of Yum Yums for you." Ava gasped. "And munchie scrunchies for us!" Ava shouted to Shade. "Heh, good thing my interview is at the grocery store."

"So many coincidences. Huh, Spyro?" Shade muttered from in her room. Spyro barked in agreement.

Johnny meowed at Ava. "Ugh, here one second," Ava spoke while walking into the kitchen. She came back out with a piece of pizza in hand. "Here."

Shade walked out of her room and down the hall into the living room just in time to see what Ava was attempting to feed Johnny. "A, I don't think you should feed Johnny pizza. I dont think it's healthy."

"Oh of course it is. It has tomato in it, so it has to be healthy."

"Whatever you say." Shade sighed. "I'll see you in a few hours. If I run into Lorelai I might be home by 8."

"Okay. I'm going to be heading to my interview in a bit so I'll probably see you when I get back. See you later."

"Bye"

Shade walked over to Mrs. Oates' apartment with Spyro dressed as a taco. "Alright, let's go pick up Marlene. Her parents dropped her off at Mrs. Oates, and Mrs. Oates has some errands to run so let's hurry." Shade said filling Spyro in on what was happening. Shade picked him up. "We're also getting paid for this." Shade stopped in front of Mrs. Oates's door and raised her hand to knock on the door.

"Shade? Is- is that you?"

Dam- Dang it. I was hoping no one else saw me like this. Shade thought. Trying not to sound too irritated, Shade smiled and turned to the person who saw her. "Heh heh, Jake hey. What are you doing here?" Shade spoke awkwardly."

"I live here too?"

"No- i- '' Shade sighed and put down Spyro. "I meant what are you doing up here."

"I came to check on Mrs. Oates I heard that Marlene was visiting for today so I wan-"

"Oh good looking out Jake but I'm going to take Marlene for a couple of hours while Mrs. Oates runs some errands."

"Oh um, okay. But I wanted to ask, why are you dressed like that."

"Anime convention" Shade responded as if she had been preparing for that question all day.

"Oh alright, I'll leave you be. Bye"

"Later." Shade watched him walk away then turned back to the door and knocked. A few seconds later she heard loud footsteps coming toward the door. The door opened showing Marlene with her hand on the doorknob.

"Hi, Shade!" Marlene shouted looking from Shade to Spyro. "Hi, Spyro!"

"Hey, Marlene. Let's go inside so you can get changed into your outfit."

"Okay."

Shade and Marlene walked inside the apartment and were greeted by Mrs. Oates "Oh Shade right on time"

"Hi, Mrs. Oates. How are you?" Marlene ran into the bathroom and took the bag Shade was carrying with her. "Marlene make sure to just put on the outfit I'll help you with the wig and ears."

Shade's POV

"Okay!" Marlene shouted from the bathroom.

"Oh, I can't thank you enough Shade. I just know that Marlene would have been bored coming on all those errands with me." Mrs. Oates spoke while guiding me to the couch to sit.

"Oh, it's no problem, Mrs. Oates," I responded. "It'll be fun for Spyro and me to have some more company."

"Oh thank you. Now, what are you dressed as?"

Oh no no no no, not this question I thought. Mrs. Oates wouldn't know about anime, right? I took a not-so-subtle breath in and started speaking. "Um, my outfit is from an anime and a character is a person named, uh, Hawks." (Cosplay outfit- doesn't belong to me- just the outfit not the person)

Thankfully for me, I didn't have to answer any more questions since Marlene ran out of the bathroom with the accessories needed to complete her costume. "I'm ready!" Marlene shouted

"Alright," I felt a bit of relief knowing I didn't have to answer any more questions. "Come here so I can put on the accessories." I grabbed Marlene's wig and put it on her head. After a few seconds of fixing the wig, I put the accessories on her and adjusted them to make them more comfortable on her. And finally, her outfit was complete.

"There you go, Marlene." I put my yellow shades on my face and looked from Mrs. Oates to Marlene. "Now shall we get going?"

"Yeah can we, can we, can we?" Marlene repeated

"Of course. Be safe." Mrs. Oates called out as we left the apartment.

We walked out through the front door and walked to the convention.

"Oh my god." I looked up from the ground as I heard a cheerful voice coming from right in front of me. "Shade? Is that you?" I already knew it was Lorelai. I may not have gone out with her every chance I got, but we still spoke a lot.

I sighed and smiled. "Yup, it's me. Hey Lorelai."

"I love your cosplay, it looks so nice!"

"Thanks."

"And who's this little one?"

I was about to introduce Marlene to Lorelai when she interrupted me. "I'm Marlene and we're going to candy." Marlene pulled me along with her as she walked to a small bakery on the corner.

"Oh, I've been meaning to go there. How about we all go together?"

"Sure," I said. We all walked to the bakery. Across the street, I spotted 5 cosplayers with almost matching costumes.

Lorelai leaned over to me and whispered, "You know those guys over there look kinda hot."

I perked up and looked at Lorelai with a confused look on my face. "Don't you have a boyfriend?"

"I mean yeah, but I'm just stating the obvious." If Marlene wasn't here I would have facepalmed so hard and hit Lorelai in the back of her head. I let out a short chuckle and brought Marlene in front of me so she wouldn't be so close to the street.

"Hey, Shade?" Marlene spoke.

"Yes, Marlene?"

"Can I hold Spyro?" I thought for a moment before placing Spyro in Marlene's hands.

"Yay!" She squealed as we walked into the cafe.

"The Sweet Treat cafe?" I read the name out loud as I looked at the pink building.

"It sounds so cute let's go in!" Lorelai ended up pulling me into the building.

We sat down at a table near a window and talked while Marlene petted Spyro's head.

"So how have you been, Lore?" I asked, trying to start the conversation.

"I've been good, I'm thinking about going shopping for some stuff in a couple of days. Do you wanna come with?" I thought about what I would be doing for the next couple of days

I might have some things I need to do for work, but if I can I'll come with you."

Lorelai smiled. "Great! So how have you and Ava been doing?"

"We've been doing good. You know Ava and her interview. Me and my projects and work. Y'know, I have my camera with me, when we finish here we can take a picture."

"Really? That would be awesome."

A waitress walked up to our table and asked us what we wanted to eat.

I glanced at the menu and looked back up at the waitress who was dressed in a pink uniform to match the building.

Marlene told Lorelai what she wanted. "A chocolate chip brownie and pink lemonade for her." Lorelai pointed to Marlene. "And I'll take a blueberry crepe and a strawberry smoothie."

"Um, I'll take a chocolate boba and one cinnamon roll to go, a vanilla creme donut, and a bowl of strawberries please," I spoke loud enough for the waitress to hear.

Alright, your order will be out in a minute." The waitress said.

After she walked away I slowly lowered my head to the table "How are you so good at speaking to random people?" I asked Lorelai as she patted my head gently.

"It's a gift I guess."

"Woah what happened to you?" Marlene asked

"Nothing, nothing." I picked my head up and handed Marlene my phone. "Here so you don't get bored while you're here."

"Ooh games," Marlene spoke softly, seeming to be mesmerized by the phone.

I chuckled and glanced out the window seeing the same cosplayers from across the street. It seemed like one of them had fallen. Before I could say anything to Lorelai about it they got up and walked in the direction of the back of my apartment building. Strange, I've never seen them before. Maybe they have friends there. I looked over to Lorelai who was currently looking at all the decorations in the brightly lit cafe. "So Lore how's 'dating life'" This was the type of question she would ask me 'Hey Shade why not start dating? Then you can tell me all about your dating life.' That is a very frequent topic she brings up

Lorelai didn't look like she expected that question and laughed quietly. "It's actually going pretty well. I feel like Steve and I are really close and understand each other really well." Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve, who the hecks Steve? I thought. "Anyway, I didn't know you liked boba?"

"I just didn't drink it as much in high school."

Lorelai hummed as our food was brought to us. I quickly looked over to the window as I saw a waitress coming over. My goal was to not interact with anyone.

"Thank you!" Lorelai cheered and put our plates and drinks in front of Marlene and me.

I tapped Marlene on the shoulder. "Marlene the food here."

"Oh okay." She said as she handed me my phone back and started to eat while I placed the yogurt in front of Spyro. Marlene made sure that the bowl didn't fall and make a mess while she was eating.

Lorelai pulled out her phone and went to Instagram. I looked up just as she took a picture of us. In the photo, Marlene was looking out the window mid-chew of a brownie. I had my cup of boba in my right hand and was facing the camera with my phone in my left hand. Lorelai was winking at the camera holding her smoothie. She looked at me as if to give her permission to post it and I nodded. Almost immediately after she posted it, a notification went off on my phone.

Lorelai gasped and looked at me with wide eyes. "Lore don't do this here." I laughed.

"No no no. This is a serious Shade. You follow me?" She spoke as if it was the most important conversation in the world. "I follow your account too"

"Wait seriously?" I laughed.

"Yeah, I love your photos." Lorelai took a sip of her smoothie.

"Alright then." I took a bite of my donut and pulled out a photo I took of a sunset and handed it to Lorelai.

"Hm? Oh, this photo's so pretty!"

"Give me your phone"

"Why?"

"Just give me the phone."

"Oh alright."

I took Lorelai's phone and put the photo in her phone case

"There you go. And I know if you keep it in your phone case you won't lose it because you, my friend, never go anywhere without your phone."

"Aw thanks Shade."

We continued eating and when we finished we paid, walked out, and walked to a little hang-out area to sit while Marlene played with Spyro. Then I realized that we forgot to take a group photo. "I forgot, we have to take a group photo."

"Oh, right we do."

I got up and grabbed my camera from under my jacket and set the timer. "Alright let's get in some kind of order."

"So you just keep your camera on you at all times?" Lorelai asked.

"Mhm never know when the perfect picture could be taken."

"True."

I propped my camera up against a wall and set a timer for five seconds. I pressed the button and ran next to Marlene and Lorelai. Lastly, I made the wings of my costume spread out behind us.

*Click*

"Now we have a very special picture." I smiled. We walked around for a bit, but not without getting some candy for all of us. It started getting dark so I checked my phone and realized that it was 6 o'clock. "Oh shi-oot. It's 6 o'clock. Lorelai, do you want to come with me to drop off Marlene?"

"Sure." Lorelai smiled. "Where do we go?"

"I think somewhere near the cafe we went to earlier." We walked over to the cafe and started looking around for Marlene's parents or Mrs. Oates.

"Over there!" Marlene shouted. She pointed to her parents across the street.

"Alright let's go." We crossed the street and headed toward Marlene's parents.

"Thank you for looking after her. We'll drop the clothes off by my mother soon." Marlene's mother said.

"It's no problem." I smiled.

"Bye" Lorelai and I said at the same time.

"Bye" Marlene called out as she walked away.

I turned to Lorelai. "How much longer do you have?"

"Um, an hour or two."

"Great same with me." I smiled "There's a cotton candy stand over there if you wanna get any"

Lorelai gasped, grabbed my hand, and ran toward the stand.

Third Person POV

While Lorelai and Shade were out, Ava was quite a bit away dealing with some major problems she might not be able to hide from Shade.

"The Government!" Ava shouted with a wide smile on her face. The five men accompanying her looked at the building behind her curiously.

"Fascinating. What is this government?" An advisor named Rhys asked. He was dressed in dark blue clothes

"It's a giant castle." One of the knights stated. This one was named Noi and had bright orange horns.

"No, no, no. The government is a big organization that deals with politics. And taking people's money without actually doing anything with it." Ava explained.

"Uh, money?" This time a former assassin with white hair spoke.

"Yup. Well, we're going to leave you guys here, okay? If you go to that door you can go inside and ask for help. Okay? See ya." Ava told them. Ava started to walk away thinking happily to herself. Ha, she thought. Now those guys are off my back and I don't have to explain this to Shade.

Her happiness was cut short and she stopped in the middle of the street. Ava spun around as she heard yelling behind her

Ava cursed under her breath and ran back to the guys she had previously left.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE CAN'T GO IN?" The prince known as Asch yelled. He wore a small crown on one of his white horns

"Your majesty stop," Rhys called out.

"I mean that we're closed today and we won't be open until Monday." The guard coughed. "Please let me down."

"Then this Monday better come now," Asch said, then lighting a fireball in his hand. "I have dealt with the most annoying e-urth female and now this?"

Ava ran up to them but stopped before we reached Asch and the guard.

"No one on earth would be that stupid to do that to a cop." Ava thought out loud. "They really are from-" Ava started.

"Your Majesty, we should strategize." Rhys reasoned.

"No, I want this human dead," Asch ordered.

"Please, it's my first day on the job." The cop begged.

"W-wait stop." Ava interrupted. "Please listen. If you kill him, hundreds more will take his place."

"How can we trust you?" Asch asked.

"Please just do. You guys were right this was a trap, it was because we didn't believe you were from another world or whatever. Now let's just get going and get out of here before-."

"Officer requesting backup." The officer coughed while talking into a walkie-talkie. "I'm being attacked."

"You idiots! We have to go now!" Ava yelled frantically.

The boys looked at each other and then back at the female who was currently running away from the building.

They all followed behind her one after another.

Back Shade and Lorelai, were both preparing to head back home. "Well, I'll see you another day?" Lorelai asked

"Yeah. Later Lorelai." Shade and Lorelai walked in different directions as they headed home.

Shade pulled out her phone and paused to text Ava.

'Hey A, I'm heading back home now' Shade texted. Oh she might be asleep right now

Just then Ava started typing

Oh I guess not

'Hey, Ahsdy. Hpw sid yoir dat gi'

Shade read the text five times before she deciphered it and started walking again. Then she decided to call Ava.

Ava clearly started to panic and answered the phone. "Hehe, hey Shade," Ava said clearly out of breath as she opened the door to the apartment

"Ava? Are you okay? You sound like you just got finished working out. You also were typing weirdly."

"What? No no, I just-" Ava paused and started whispering to the group behind her. "No, do not go that way. Stop that, no, god, just keep following me!"

"Ava? Are you okay? Who are you talking to?"

"No one," Ava answered a little too fast. "Ha I mean just some friends I ran into."

Friends? Really, Ava? I thought, a little suspicious about what she was saying "Oh okay well I'm heading home now. I'm a couple of minutes away- No, Spyro put that branch down, we are not bringing that into the apartment. Well, I'll see you in a bit?"

"Yup, yeah, of course?" Ava replied, sounding more and more unsure as she spoke.

"Alright bye"

"Bye Shade"

Ava hung up and ran into her apartment with the boys in tow.

"Well, that was weird," Shade muttered. "No Spyro put the branch back down, I have dog toys for you at home." After many detours (Spyro stopping every minute to pick up a branch he finds) Shade finally made it back. Picking up Spyro, Shade waved to the woman at the desk and walked up the stairs to the apartment.

Shade looked down to get her keys when she spotted the burnt doorknob. "What the-" Shade touched the doorknob thinking she would feel burning metal, but it seemed like no one had opened it in a while.

Shade tried to open the door.

Shade started worrying that someone got into the apartment so she put Spyro on the floor and slammed the door open.

Shades POV

"AVA? Are you-" I paused and looked at the five males in my living room. "WHAT THE ACTUAL FU-"

A guy dressed in green appeared behind me and covered my mouth to keep me from screaming.

So I did what any normal human female would do. Punched, kicked, screamed, and almost cried.

Then I bit the guy's hand. He let go and I turned around and punched him. During the chaos, my glasses fell off my face. "AVA! What the shi- sugar is happening?!" My life might be in danger but there is no way, I'm losing 5 dollars in the swear jar.

"Shade! Um, These are the 'friends'" Ava spoke slowly putting air quotes around the friends part.

"Oh, fudge I just gut-punched your friend? Holy mother of god, and I bit him?" I spun around to face Ava's friend. "Oh my god, I am so so so sorry."

Spyro pushed the door closed and dropped the glasses at my feet. I put them on and let out a nervous chuckle and turned to Ava. "Ava. We need to talk. Now"

"Excuse me. But who do you think you are to attack my men? And take my prisoner?"

"Your Majesty, please wait."

(You can clearly tell who these two are)

I walked up to one of the cosplay guys clearly prepared to smack the sh-stuffings out of this guy, but Ava stopped me before I could get too close. As I brought my arm up my cosplay wings had opened. Before, you could hardly see the wings without looking closely. I cursed under my breath and looked back.

"Man come on, this was hard enough to close." one of the men in all blue let out a small gasp looking from me to the wings.

"Shade, hey let's go, uh, talk" Ava started to push me into her room. I stumbled backward and turned.

"Good god slows down I'm going."

Third Person POV

Oh my god, I am so screwed, Ava thought frantically. We now have 5 guys living with us. Shades gonna freak then I might freak out more. God and they're hot.

As Ava and Shade entered Ava's room, Leif walked over to the group and turned to Rhys. "Did you guys see the wings too or was it magic from that sorcerer?"

"I believe that it was the Hunter with all of the 'trophies'" Rhys said.

While searching the house earlier, the former general had come across a room with what he thought were severed beast parts. During the chaos with Ava, the general named Peirce told the group what he found.

"I've never seen a hunter wear their trophies," Leif said.

"I'm not sure, but those wings, they seemed so real. I wonder if humans have that type of magic."

"Who cares?" Asch interrupted. "They could be alerting other humans!"

"Well, the sorceress didn't when she had the chance, and we still need to gain their trust." Rhys reasoned.

"Ugh fine. But if I am given a reason, I will see to it that one of them will be dead" (I typed that and my brain said 'unalive'. Dont know why)

In Ava's room, Shade was pacing back and forth while Ava was sitting on the bed, slowly dying inside.

"Ok, so you're telling me we now have five guys living with us? And- and there supposedly 'demons'?" Shade re-told what Ava just told her.

"Yeah yeah. Are we screwed? I think we are. We are aren't we?" Ava panicked jumping off her bed and pacing along with her sister.

"No, Ava, sit."

"Right," Ava said still pacing.

Shade followed Ava and guided her back to her bed and sat her down. "Ok calm down. Maybe were lucid dreaming."

"What?"

"Yeah maybe were hearing each other in our sleep and were reacting to it."

"Is, is that even how that works?"

"I don't know. It works when I hear things outside my dream so maybe that's it."

"Then that means," Ava gasped and did a little victory laugh. "Then I didn't miss my interview, what happened today doesn't matter anymore right? Cause- cause they almost killed a cop"

"I dont think it- wait what?" Shade asked

"Doesn't matter." Ava brushed off Shade's question. "Now, we dont have to deal with the demons guys"

"Ok well, I'm going to sleep. Also, can you help take off my wings please?"

"Right."

Shade and Ava walked out of the room, just as Johnny walked in.

Shade walked over to the closet and pulled out a box that hasn't been opened since they moved in. She scrunched up her face and opened the box checking the box to make sure its the right one.

Shades POV

I'm praying that they aren't scared of any bugs that might have made their way in here. If I find one I will scream.

Missing what Ava said, I watched as she slammed the doors closed. I plopped the box on the floor and looked around. I heard a door open and looked toward the sound.

"And I swear to god, if we end up murdered in the morning, I will come back and haunt all of you forever" Ava shouted at the boys. Johnny walked into the room and she slammed the door closed again

"Well now we know why she rejected me, she can haunt people." The man in green said (*gasp* The man in the window)

"Well, she is a powerful sorcerer." A guy who was previously petting Johnny spoke up.

"IT'S SORCERESS GEt IT RIGHT!" Ava shouted from her room

I put my hands over my mouth as tears formed at the corners of my eyes as I tried not to laugh at the conversation. "Welp, I'm going to bed. Dont come in my room unless the apartment is burning down or someone dying." I pointed to the box at my feet "These are the blankets use them if you get cold." I picked them up from next to the box and walked to my room.

Spyro, who had walked into my room a while after I had spoken with Ava, was sitting on his dog bed watching the door. I closed the door and hung the wings with the other two and lay on my bed. "Now all that's left is hoping that those guys aren't real and repeat everything I did today tomorrow. Night bud." I said before falling asleep.

A/N: Sorry for not making another chapter earlier, I just hated the original chapter and wanted to remake it. Then I had to move and school started so it was a lot of chaos. I will start working on the next chapter right now and get it down when I can. -BoundByRoses
