Searching the Entrance
David chopped the chest part of the beast and lay it aside. And he made the remaining part of the corpse seem like the animal had died from the fight with another animal.
By the time David finished chopping down the beast, it was already dawn. Faint light was entering inside the forest through the gaps between the mushroom caps. He carried the part that he had laid aside before on his shoulder then began entering deep inside the forest.
He took the knife with him, in case he encountered other animals. Getting rid of the proof from the attack of laser gun was tedious to him. So he thought that he would use the knife to kill any other animals that might attack him.
David spent the next 30 hours of the daylight by searching for the secret entrance. However, all he did was roam around aimlessly near the two of the outer settlements.
