Chapter 15 New home

"Melissa, you'll come with us, and I won't accept no for an answer," Maxwell said sternly.

"I don't want to be a burden to anyone," said Melissa. "You can go home and don't worry about me, I'll see what I can do with my life. I might as well end my life because it's not going to be good either way.

Linda, let out a long sigh as she heard Mellisa talking about suicide, "Mellisa, can you stop talking about suicide? Like seriously, what will death solve? Nothing!!, so it's better not to talk about it anymore, you are coming with us and that's the end of the story.

"But____'' Melissa couldn't even finish her sentence.

. "You're going to come with us and the topics are not up for discussion," Maxwell said. Melissa said nothing after hearing Maxwell and Linda's request.

After making sure that Melissa was comfortable in the back seat Maxwell drove away heading home.

.....

"Mom, I can't stay here anymore. I have a job at the Williams mansion. Michele said since Mellisa left the house. She was very sad thinking about how she was doing. She could not control her anxiety, It even increased when Melissa called her and cried but she didn't say anything. Seeing her mother's face every day made her disgusted to call her mother.

Quincy raised her eyebrows listening to her daughter. " When did you get the job? What work will you be doing there? Why didn't you tell me about it? "

"Mom, I applied for this position a few weeks ago but did not receive an answer. I saw an email from the owner today so I decided to go. Michelle said. "And I'll be the housekeeper there, which means I'll be staying at his house with his kids."

"You can go if that's what you want. Quincy said." I will talk to your father when he is back, I'm sure he doesn't have a problem with you working, but you must come home every weekend. "

" Okay mom, thank you. I will start packing now. Michelle said and headed to her room. She no longer wanted to live with her mother knowing what she had done to Mellisa, her heart aches thinking about the difficulties Mellisa had faced in her mother's care. She knew that if she went to the city she would be able to meet Mellisa.

...…..

After a few hours of driving, Maxwell finally halted his car in front of his house, as they got out, Mellisa was dumbfounded at the majestic sight that welcomed her.

A two-story mansion with a grand facade and a large, manicured lawn. The exterior was made of light-coloured stone with detailed trim work and columns. Several balconies and terraces overlooked the estate and the rolling hills beyond. As they kept on walking her eyes almost bulged out of their socket as she entered inside.

Inside, the home was filled with luxurious furnishings and artwork. The spacious rooms had high ceilings, detailed mouldings and woodwork, and plush carpets. Large windows throughout let in plenty of natural light and provided stunning views of the grounds. Halls and staircases were adorned with beautiful paintings and sculptures.

At the centre of the mansion was a grand ballroom. It was filled with ornate chandeliers, a grand piano, and a large marble fireplace.

Outdoors, the grounds of the estate were just as impressive. There were gardens and fountains, and a pond with a picturesque bridge. The grounds were decorated with trees, flowers, and shrubs, and there was a large pool and tennis court.

"Be careful, Melissa, you will fall and hurt yourself," Linda warned with her beautiful smile.

"Oh! Sorry, I got lost looking at your house."Melissa smiled shyly. "Your house is so beautiful. I've never seen anything like it "

" From now on, this is your home. " Linda laughed.

" Dad, Linda!!!! Shina shouted as she descended the stairs.

Arriving at the spot where the three of them were standing, she hugged Linda tightly. "I'm really glad you're okay. I was worried a lot. I thought something bad happened to you."Shina continued speaking.

"Stop it, Shina. You're going to choke me to death." Linda pursed her lips and complained. "Can't you see I'm fine?"Linda slipped out of her embrace.

"I'm sorry about that too, are you okay? ____'' Shina paused midway as her eyes fell on Melissa, who was watching them silently, seemingly lost in her world. "Oh! Daddy brought us a new mommy?" Her sad expression was gone, replaced by a mischievous expression that had never happened to her before. Her mood was difficult to change.

"Perhaps she will soon be our mother, who knows," said Linda with a playful smile. Melissa was lost in her world and did not even hear them except for Maxwell, who shrugs his shoulders.

" Show Mellisa to her room upstairs, I called a new maid and she's on her way. I have work to do"Maxwell said as he walked to his room to change clothes.

"Goodbye." Linda and Shina spoke immediately. Maxwell could only shake his head in disbelief.

Shina walked over to Melissa and lightly shook her arm, pulling Melissa out of her daze. "Hi, I'm Shina, Linda's older sister."She introduced herself with a smile. Linda looked at her sister with wide eyes, she didn't need anyone to tell her how cold her sister was to strangers, why did she greet Melissa so friendly?

" Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Melissa. " Melissa smiled.

"Nice to meet you, you must be tired. Come, I'll show you to your room so you can rest in peace.

"Okay. Thank you very much." Mellisa said with a smile

"Hey, don't thank me. Shina took Mellisa's hand and led her upstairs. Linda couldn't help but look at her sister in disbelief. She had never seen her so happy in her entire life.
