39: Deku

6 years later

It was safe to say that the villains had been captured. We weren't in danger from any major villains. The ones heroes busted and captured these days were just small time theves and drug dealers and all that. The kids were growing up fast. Bakugo had retired from his spot as the number 2 hero to help train their quirks. I had stayed in the hero business, wanting to make sure their weren't any soon-to-be villains out there, wanting to make sure everyone stayed safe. That day, after I finished my patrolling without a problem, I went home. Once I was home, I went into our room-Bakugo's and mine-and changed into some gray shorts and a blue shirt. Then, I went outback, and sat down on the porch, watching as Bakugo sparred against Asahi and Namie. Those two had talent, I'll give them that. However, Namie was the one with my brain. Which left Asahi with Bakugo's strength. Anyway, their quirks were pretty darn awesome. Namie could shapeshift into whatever or whoever she wanted, but it took energy out of her if she tried too much at once. And Asahi could borrow the quirk of someone else and use it against the owner or a random villain. Meanwhile, Tenshi sat on the other side of the deck, watching and taking notes. Reminding me of the young, quirkless me. I sat beside her. "Where's Ren?" I asked, after kissing the top of her head. "Up in his room, tinkering with gadgets." "I'm going to go pay him a visit. Tell Papa when they get done sparring, please." "I will. Love you." "Love you too." I said, then went upstairs, and knocked on Ren's room. "Who is it?" He asked. "Its me. Can I come in?" A second later, his door opened, and he let me inside. On his desk, he had parts and bits like wires and cogs spread out, and he also had blueprints laid out on his bed. "You having fun?" I asked him, watching as he started to Tinker. His hands flew over the parts as if he knew what to do without instructions. He had plans to become an inventor in the future. And, with the ideas he came up with, he had a pretty good chance at completing his dreams. "Yeah, yeah, I am. Did you just get home?" "A few minutes ago, yes." Ren was the only quirkless kid of ours. And, once everyone found out, all they did was tease and bully him. He was the son of the number one hero and he didn't have a quirk? Pathetic. He was the son of the number one hero and only had two close friends? Embarrassing. They'd say stuff like that over and over. I'd always told Ren to ignore it. But now, I think it might help if I tell him how I used to be quirkless. "Not a lot of people know this, so I need you to keep it secret, ok? This stays between us." And I told him how I used to be quirkless, how All Might himself had bestowed One For All upon me. All of it. I didn't spare single detail. And he stopped tinkering somewhere along the way, turning to face me, his eyes sparkling with interest.
