38: Bakugo

Izuku had been cleared to come home after a full month in the hospital. I loaded the kids into the car, fought with my husband until he relented and sat in the passenger seat, then drove home. But what we found waiting there hadn't been what I was expecting. Our friends ambushed us as soon as we got inside. "We heard the news-" "We also made sure to visit whenever we could!" "And we'll make sure the villains are caught. They can't just show up like that!" I held Ren against my chest, since he'd fallen asleep on the way here. Izuku had Tenshi in his arms. The first to comment on Ren's scarring was Icyhot. "Let me guess. A something to remember Dabi by?" "Yeah. But he'll pay." I answered, looking down at my son. Sometimes, I wished that quirks weren't real, that there was no such thing as heroes and villains. But there was. And I couldn't change that. "Let me see Ren. His scars still look bad." I handed him over, and once Todoroki had him against his chest with one hand, he placed his other hand on the scars. I guessed he was using the icy side of his quirk to reduce swelling and irritation. "Hm. He has a small fever, too." "Well, Kacchan, I guess we should put the kids to bed. They all look pretty tired, don't you think?" "I'll take care of that. You stay in here and rest. You've earned it." I kissed the top of his head before taking Tenshi from his arms, and saying, "Kids, it's bedtime. Brush your teeth and lay down." While Asahi and Namie brushed their teeth, I put Tenshi in her bed, then covered her up to her shoulders with the blanket. I made sure to tuck them all in and kiss them goodnight. Before I could leave, however, Todoroki came up. "His fever had gotten smaller, and his scars don't look as irritated, but I'd still keep an eye on him. With how lethal Dabi's flames are, he's lucky to have left with scars." I stood as Todoroki placed Ren in his bed, and then I tucked him in, giving him a kiss on the head. "You know, you make a surprisingly great father." "Huh?!" I asked, snapping my head in his direction. "I didn't think you'd make it as a father, but I tried to be positive. And now I know how great of a father you are." "Please, Todoroki, don't give him a bigger head than he already has." Mina said from the doorway. I looked over at her. "Oh, very funny, Raccon eyes." "I don't think that's possible, Mina. His head is already too big for his body." And it continued in the living room, where we all talked and caught each other up, before a shocking event happened. "I know this isn't the ideal place, but, Denki-" Shinso started, looking a bit nervous. He knelt down on one knee, and held open a small, yellow box. "Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" Naturally, Kaminari was all for it, so he nodded frantically. Shinso put the ring on his boyfriend's finger, blushing a bit, before they shared a kiss.
