Chapter 4: Learning more about each other little by little

A little over a month later (October 6th)

Monday

Sean's POV

"See you survived and that essay was great." Mark said as I sat down on the back of my truck.

"Yeah she didn't bore me to death." I said and they all laughed.

Not long after that the bell rung so we went to class. I found it hard to concentrate in my classes and without thinking about it I started thinking about Lily and the time we spent together for the project. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I actually enjoyed the little bit of time I spent with her. She was so different than my friends or anyone I hang around and she didn't seem to care what other people thought of her. When the bell would ring, I drifted back to reality and went to my next class to only find myself thinking about Lily again.

Lily's POV

As soon as I got home, I changed into my jogging clothes then went for a jog. When I came back, Sean and his friends were at his house but they were all inside. I grabbed the mail from my mailbox then I unlocked the front door then I went up to my room and changed clothes. I was in the kitchen thinking about what to cook for supper when the doorbell ring.

"Coming!" I yelled before closing the cooking book.

When I opened the door, I saw Sean.

"Hi, just returning your pictures." He said holding an envelope out towards me.

"Thanks. Wait right here, I got your pictures." I said before running upstairs.

I got the pictures out of my room then I ran back downstairs.

"Here are your pictures." I said handing them to him.

"So the project turned out great." He said taking the pictures.

"An A plus." I said smiling.

"Sean! Come on!" Miles yelled.

"Bye." I said then I closed the door and I heard him walk away.

Saturday (Oct. 12th)

Sean's POV

Miles, Kenny, Mark, Ricky, and I decided to go to the local karate place like we sometimes do. When we got there, we sat down in the stands they had close to where the people fought at. We looked to see a guy getting beat by a girl (who had her hair up in a ponytail).

"Man, that guy must be weak." Ricky said laughing.

"Yeah that would never happen to us." I said smiling.

Every time it looked like the guy might win the girl would do something that made all of us think we can't count her out yet.

Lily's POV

When I got to the karate place to see my friends Harris and Erica (they go to a different school then me and I meet them when I was doing karate), I saw Erica beating Harris and I smiled really big.

"I think that girl could take you." I heard Miles say.

I looked into the stands to see Miles, Kenny, Mark, Ricky, and Sean and I shook my head.

"Oh whatever." Kenny said looking at Miles.

"I think it would be a close fight but she might win." Sean said and Kenny gave him an evil look.

"Ok I give; now let me go!" I heard Harris yell and I laughed.

When I laughed, Sean and them plus Erica and Harris looked to see me.

"Lily!" Erica yelled before running towards me.

"Hey girl." I said as she hugged me.

"Just so you know, I hate you for teaching her that finishing move!" Harris yelled and I laughed.

"Not my fault you could never learn it!" I yelled and he gave me an evil look as he got up.

"It's about time you show your face around here again." Erica said smiling at me.

"Yeah sorry about that; I been busy lately." I said smiling at her.

"School." She said and I nodded my head.

"How's the leg?" She asked looking at my left leg.

"It's good; I mean it doesn't hurt everyday which is a great thing." I said and she nodded

"So you two go change clothes because I was thinking we could hang out all day." I said as Harris stopped beside Erica and both of them smiled really big.

"Well you know me I don't have to change clothes." Harris said and I shook my head.

"Give me 10 minutes." Erica said before running towards the stands and she grabbed her bag before running towards the bathroom.

"You have to give me some pointers so I can beat that girl." Harris said looking at me and I laughed.

"Never going to happen." I said smiling at him.

"Oh come on." He said.

"No." I said shaking my head.

"Keep practicing maybe one day you will finally beat her." I said.

"You ever miss karate?" He asked.

"Sure I do but when I quit I had so much going on in my life that I thought it would be a great time to take a break." I said.

"I haven't given up on the thought of coming back." I said and he smiled.

"You just want to make sure it's the right time when you do come back." He said.

"Yeah." I said nodding my head.

"So how's school?" I asked and he quit smiling.

"Now it can't be that bad." I said and he smiled at me.

"Have you taken Chemistry?" He asked and I nodded my head.

"Took it last year; why do you need help?" I asked smiling at him.

"Let me guess you got an A." He said smiling.

"I can't help it that I am smart." I said and he laughed.

"Will you tutor me?" He asked.

"Sure no problem but we have to do it at your house." I said.

"Oh yes your noisy neighbors. No problem you remember where I live right?" He asked.

"How could I forget?" I asked and he smiled at me.

"Tuesdays good for you?" I asked.

"Yeah let's say 3:40 which should give you plenty of time to get to my house and pick up something to eat if you want to before coming to my house." He said.

"Sounds great." I said smiling.

"I am back and ready to eat." Erica said showing back up.

"You still need help in Chemistry?" Harris asked looking at her.

"Of course." Erica said.

"Tuesdays at 3:40 I am tutoring him so you can come too and I will tutor you too." I said and Erica smiled at me.

"I will be there. So can I pick the place to eat?" Erica asked and I laughed.

"I have no problem with that as long as I get something to eat." I said and she smiled.

After that we left and went to a Chinese place to get something to eat. Then we went to the mall and shopped for a little while.

I got home at 7 and I decided to go for a jog. I was going through the park when my leg started hurting so I decided to sit down on a bench to rest. I saw a couple of guys talking not far from me then one of them (that had dark brown hair and green eyes) looked at me.

"Well, what brings a person like you to the park?" A guy asked and I looked up(since I was tying my shoe) to see the dark brown hair guy stop in front of me.

"Jogging." I said and he nodded his head.

"Yeah you look like you are in good shape." He said smiling at me.

"Yeah it's amazing what exercise can do." I said before standing up.

"Bye." I said then I jogged away.

When I made it home, it was almost dark outside but the light in the Owens' driveway was on and Sean and his friends was sitting on the pavement. The light in my driveway was on like it always is around this time.

"Since when do you jog at night time?" Chase asked and I looked to see him leaning against his truck.

"Shouldn't you be with Alexis aka your girlfriend?" I asked as I let down my hair.

"I don't usually jog at night time but I have had a busy day and just did make time for it." I said and he smiled at me.

"I need your advice on something." He said and I nodded my head.

"Ask away." I said and he opened the back door on the driver side of his truck.

"I have been searching and trying to find the perfect gift for Alexis because our one year anniversary is coming up soon." He said looking at me.

"Wednesday; Alexis has been talking and talking about it." I said and he smiled really big.

"I have a couple of gifts but I don't know which one she would like the most. I thought maybe you could help." He said and I nodded my head.

"Move; let me see the gifts." I said pushing him out of the way and he laughed.

The first thing I saw was a scrapbook that he made and I smiled really big when I saw it had a big picture of Alexis and him and on the front was both of their names.

"Give her the scrapbook." I said picking it up and handing it to him.

"Thanks." He said smiling at me as he took the scrapbook.

"You got plans for tonight?" He asked.

"Yes I do sleeping." I said and he shook his head.

"Probably will watch a movie before going to sleep." I said and he nodded his head.

"Oh and when you go visit Alexis tonight tell her the dress she wanted to borrow she can pick it up tomorrow." I said and he smiled at me.

"I will do that." He said and I nodded my head.

"Bye." I said then I walked past him.

"See you at school on Monday." He said and I nodded my head then I walked into the house.
