Chapter 10 Black book

After the boys were done unpacking their bags, they were free to explore the school. With no classes scheduled for the day, the trio of friends eagerly anticipated their exploration of the school.

"So, what do you guys want to do now? Which part of the school would you like to explore first?" Adam asked a mischievous glimmer in his eyes.

"I would like to visit the library," Jacob responded, his voice filled with a sense of purpose.

"The library? Why the library? It's so boring! There are other exciting places we can explore, like the training room, the weapon room, or even our classrooms," Ray interrupted, his eagerness palpable.

Jacob sighed, realizing he would have to explain his choice. "I know there are more thrilling places to discover, but I have something important to do in the library. You two go ahead, and I promise I'll join you soon."

Ray's expression turned skeptical. "Well, it doesn't feel that way. It feels like you're trying to avoid us."

"Avoid us? Why would I want to avoid you guys? We just got here. Why are you sounding this way?" Jacob was genuinely perplexed by Ray's accusations.

Before the argument could escalate any further, Adam intervened. "Hey! Hey! What's all this? Jacob said he had something to do in the library and he'll join us later. There's no need to make a mountain out of a molehill."

Realizing his error, Ray's face flushed with embarrassment. "I'm sorry. I don't know what got into my head. I'm sorry, Jacob. I'll see you soon," he apologized, hastily leaving the room with Adam trailing behind.

Left alone, Jacob couldn't help but ponder the strange turn of events.

"Wow, that was weird. I have to go to the library and see if I can find any book that could help me understand this mysterious system," he thought to himself, his curiosity burning within.

He swiftly exited the room, making sure to lock the door behind him, and embarked on his solitary journey towards the library.

The library stood as a grand sanctuary of knowledge within the school, its towering shelves filled with countless volumes of ancient wisdom and magical lore.

As Jacob stepped through the heavy oak doors, he was enveloped in an atmosphere of quiet reverence, the air thick with the scent of aged parchment and the faint whisper of turning pages.

Sunlight filtered through stained glass windows, casting vibrant hues upon the polished marble floor. Illuminated by the ethereal glow, rows upon rows of tall bookcases stretched into the distance, their intricate carvings depicting mythical creatures and legendary heroes.

A spiral staircase wound its way up to higher levels, granting access to the library's upper tiers, where more advanced and ancient books were kept and only the second-year and third-year students had access.

Occasionally, a book would float gently from its place, gliding into the hands of an eager reader, guided by some unseen force.

The librarian, a wise and ageless figure, stood behind an intricately carved desk at the heart of the library. Clad in flowing robes and possessing eyes that seemed to hold a thousand tales, his name 'Domvic' was written on his desk.

In this sanctuary of wisdom and knowledge, Jacob had the urge that answers to his questions lay in wait.

He ventured forth, running his fingers along the spines of ancient texts, feeling the weight of history and magic in his hands.

After a while of searching, Jacob still couldn't find the kind of book he was looking for. So he decided to go seek some help from the librarian.

"Excuse sir, please I need some help finding a book, an ancient book about all kinds of ability," Jacob asked.

"Down to your left, at the very end of the library take a left you would find a bookshelves that is where all the ancient books are," the librarian added.

"If you can't find the book you ate looking for there, it means they are upstairs in the senior library."

The librarian directed Jacob down to the edge of the library, a place that was completely quiet and not a single student could be seen there.

Jacob walked up to the bookshelves and started his search for a book that help him with his new ability.

Thirty minutes went by, but he couldn't find any book that was close to what he was looking for.

"It's not here, it's just a complete waste of time, I think it might be upstairs in the senior section," Jacob murmured.

Just as Jacob prepared to leave the library, a sudden thud echoed through the hallowed halls, catching his attention.

His gaze was drawn to a book that had fallen from a high shelf, its weighty presence demanding recognition. The tome lay on the floor, it's cover a deep, obsidian black that seemed to absorb even the faintest hint of light.

Intrigued, Jacob approached the fallen book, his eyes widening as he took in its peculiar features. The surface was adorned with intricate markings, a tapestry of ancient languages that swirled and danced across the cover. Symbols and runes, their meanings one could not tell, were etched into the book's body.

As Jacob knelt down to examine the book, he noticed a small, ornate lock clasping its pages shut. It was an intricate work of craftsmanship, gilded and adorned with ornamental motifs that seemed to hint at the book's hidden significance.

A surge of curiosity and anticipation coursed through Jacob's veins, he reached out, his fingertips tracing the cool, smooth surface of the book's cover. It seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy.

"I think this is it, but how do I get this open? I would just take it back to the room maybe Adam and Ray would be able to help," Jacob thought.

He quickly took the book and headed to the librarian.

"Hi! I just wanted to know if I could take this book with me to my room, I promise I'm going to return it first thing tomorrow morning."

Without even giving a glance at the book Jacob wanted to take, the librarian just gave him the go-ahead to take the book.
