BROTHER

Ocean and Stone appeared in the middle of an isolated corridor, leisurely making turns to get to their destination.

"We would be having visitors tonight. It's been a while since I had fun with my fellow kinds." Stated Ocean with a smile that didn't reach his empty eyes.

"Care to join us?" He asked Stone in a half-amused voice.

"No thanks. I will just pass the night here" A small frown settled on Stone's face.

"I still can't believe George is the type of person to kill someone for what is not his."

"Do you know what drives every living thing, I mean, animals, humans and other creatures in existence?"

"Umm.....the need to survive?"

"True, but the main things are 'MONEY AND POWER'- the two work hand in hand as they control the world. Everyone wants it in one way or the other. That need to feel important because of the money and power you have is high among us living things. Both the rich and the poor want to acquire money and power. People don't let nature take its course. If it is meant to come to you, it will, but if you force it, you are wasting your time because at the end, it will cost you something just like it is about to cost him his life."

"You should have just sacked him earlier."

"One way or the other, he has it all planned out so why should I refuse to play his childish game?"

"I still can't believe we are talking about George that is- was very down to earth. I would have never guessed he is a vampire by the way."

"I knew right from day one, and that was why I made him the managing director. I saw through his facade and knew he was a very competitive and greedy vampire, so I kept him to reduce opposition." Ocean let out a dry laughter as Stone gave him a look of surprise. He continued,

"There are many of our kinds and other kinds too in here. The other night I came across a werewolf feeding on a human-"

"Did you kill it?"

"Why would I? He was hungry. George thinks I don't know that he is a low-life vampire with no vision. Poor thing, he thinks it is everybody he can mess with." The atmosphere darkened, well more for Stone. Ocean decided to pick a lighter topic

"The new neighbour works in the company." Stone's eyes lit up

"How did you know?"

"Saw her when we were leaving the company"

"Did she see you?"

"No. I would be having Dinner with her, care to join?"

"Huh? She invited you?"

"No, I just invited myself," Ocean chuckled at his own response.

"Did you finally behold her beauty?"

"Maybe" Ocean answered nonchalantly with a slight shrug,

"Do you like her?"

"Why are you so dumb? So having dinner with someone implies that you like the person?" Ocean sent Stone a small glare.

"I know you enough to know that you don't spend your time unwisely. You always spend your time on or with someone you have developed a sort of interest in."

"You are talking rubbish. Are you in or out?"

"What if she doesn't let us in, from what I know, she is not quite fond of you"

"Leave that to me lil brother," answered Ocean with a smirk

"Probably next time.....I like it when you call me that"

"Stop being cheeky." Ocean rolled his eyes, making the younger man grin as they slowly walked into a room tagged 'VIP 120'

"And how is my favourite girl doing today?" The nurse and little girl turned towards the happy voice of Stone.

"Stone!" chimed the little girl as the joy that fills her heart knows no bounds. Stone walked towards the little girl and engulfed her in his arms.

"I missed you" The girl went ahead to place a soft kiss on his nose making Stone smile

"Hey kid" Ocean greeted with a little ruffling of the girl's hair before moving away.

"Hi" replied the kid with a little wave.

"I knew you would and I missed you too. What have you been up to?" Stone continued after Ocean moved away.

"Mrs Alice has been teaching me how to read some big words like, flabbergasted, enchanting, accumulate, embarrassment and so many others!" She replied enthusiastically.

"Wow! Those are really big words, I doubt my teacher taught me those words back then in school, lucky you. How about you brother, were you taught such words by your teacher?" They all turned to Ocean who is looking out the window

"Of course, my teacher wasn't as dumb as yours!" Stone set his mouth into a thin line on hearing Ocean's reply.

"Whatever" Stone said dramatically as he turned to the elderly woman in the room who is smiling at them. Stone waved at her

"Hello Mrs Alice"

"You finally noticed me" Replied the woman with a fake frown.

"Of course, I always do" The woman smiled at him before turning to Ocean who is now sitting on the sofa positioned close to the room's window

"How are you?" She asked Ocean

"Great. What about you?"

"Same here"

"Work?" He asked with a straight face

"Work is fine. The new devices you purchased have been placed in the rooms as ordered and the patients love them so far"

"Good, they should." he nodded his head in approval of the information.

"We need to employ new cleaners and tighten the security because the other day someone came here and caused trouble."

"So I heard. What was the trouble about"

"The woman came to attack a girl and her sick mother who is a patient here"

"Hmm. Why didn't you have the woman arrested? Next time something like that happens here, have the person arrested right away because I don't see why you should be troubling a sick person when whatever the problem is can wait."

"Okay, I will do that next time.

"Good, I Hope the patient is okay?"

"Yes. I made sure to check on her after the incident"

"Okay"

"What is the patient's room number?"

"206" He nodded his head and turned to Stone and the little girl

"How is she doing?" He jerked his towards the little girl

"Mira is a strong girl. She is getting better and will soon be discharged. What do you plan to do with her"

"Nothing. Stones like her a lot, he might want to keep her around and I wouldn't mind, but if he doesn't want to keep her, I would keep her in one of the orphanage homes"

"Okay."

"I am going to take a stroll around the hospital, in case he starts looking for me" He jerked his head towards Stone, and Mrs Alice nodded

Ocean walked down the quiet corridors of the hospital in slow steps. When he walked past a man in a doctor's coat, he had the usual feeling in his gut that the man isn't ordinary. Turning around again to take a closer look, he saw the true form of the man, the smoke that trailed behind the man as he walked and his sharp long claws.

"What is he doing here?" He asked himself with a frown as he carefully followed the man.

The man in question stopped abruptly and scanned the environment before taking the escalator. His eyes landed on the little girl of about 6 or 7 years old sitting by herself on the floor as if lost in the big hospital. He plastered a sweet smile on his face and approached the girl.

"Hey little one" he greeted the little girl before squatting to take a closer look at her and inhaling the intoxicating smell of her blood.

"Hi" replied the girl as she flashes him an innocent look, wondering who the stranger might be

"So, why are you here all by yourself?" He asked the little girl

"Waiting for my mum to find me" lost, makes it more perfect, he thought to himself

"How about I help you find her"

"No thanks, my mum wouldn't like that"

"But you are lost and she is looking for you. This is quite a big place, and it is not safe for a pretty little girl like yourself"

"Thanks, but my mum will find me" stubborn little girl, he thought to himself with gritted teeth. If it is not for the people around, he would have dragged the little girl to a corner and sucked her dry in two seconds.

"I am no stranger here, I am a doctor, see..." He showed her his white coat with his name on it

"Dr Liam, that's my name"

"Okay, but that doesn't mean I will follow you" the so-called Dr Liam internally groaned, he never thought it was going to be difficult to have the little girl follow him so he can feed on her. He still stayed there thinking of what to do until something clicked in his head. He put his hand in his hip pocket and brought out two small chocolates. On seeing the chocolates, the girl's eyes lit up before she snatched it out of his hand. Blinded by the chocolates, the girl didn't bother to question him as he held her hand while they made turns through several corridors.

Ocean who had been listening to their conversation was happy at first when the girl refused to go with him. He knew that no vampire in his right state of mind will openly attack its prey in the open. But everything changed when he saw the way the little girl's eyes lit up at the sight of mere chocolates.

"What is wrong with these humans?" She is just a child, his inner retorted making him sigh before following them. As if he walked on air, his boots didn't make any sound to give away his presence

When they were out of people's watch, Dr Liam took the girl into a deserted room that is being renovated. Inside the room, his demeanour changed into a cold one, the friendly smile that was on his face long gone and his eyes turned red. The little girl noticed the change in atmosphere and was about to question him when he placed a finger on her head, muttering incoherent words under his breath which had the girl swallow her words. Just after his action, the little girl's eyes turned pitch black as she became static. Dr Liam bent down and readied his sharp fangs to drink from his meal-

"Are you not ashamed of yourself?" Ocean decided to interrupt the show in from of him. Not pleased with the interruption, Dr Liam angrily turned to where the voice came and his eyes slightly widened

"Ocean?"

"Finley or should I say, Dr Liam? What a pleasant surprise to see you here" The sarcasm didn't go unnoticed by the man whose actual name is Finley

"what are you doing-"

"Good to see you too. Now leave the girl and get out of this place" Finley was taken aback by the response.

"I see you have grown some balls after all these years,"

"if it would help you sleep better, then yes, I have grown some balls. Do you want to see it?" Finley raised one of his perfect brows

"Nice joke, but I am not in the mood. Now as you can see, I have something important to do. You can join me if you want,"

"I'd rather starve than share a meal with a stupid vampire."

"I see. Be my guest then as I tear this little one apart" Finley smiled cockily at him before turning to the girl whose skin has turned green. At lightning speed, Ocean launched himself at Finley who stumbled to the side as a result of the attack.

"Now tell me what that was for?" Finley asked in a serious tone as he re-positioned his body

"I owe you no explanation" Ocean replied as he walked towards the girl. on seeing this, Finley took the initiative to attack, but Ocean was quick to move to the side

"don't tempt me anymore" Ocean warned as he glared at the other man.

"what will you do? it seems you have forgotten your place after running away" Finley launched at him again, but this time around with a stake that managed to slash his arm only because he wanted it to. Finley continued,

"let me help remind you how I used to beat the leaving hell out of you till you ran away like a puppy. You are the worthless rogue vampire no one cares about, a weakling who has nothing but miserable life." The two men launched at each other, but Finley missed only by an inch as Ocean was fast enough to grab his neck, squeezing hard enough to hear the bones crack. Ocean let out a dry laugh as he looked at the helpless figure in front of him, all it would take was just a snap of a finger to end his life, but he decided not to.

"Goodbye for now brother" Ocean smirked at the melting figure in his hand.
