Chapter 2

I sat down to watch TV when there was a knock on the door. I looked to see it was my stepmom so I let her in and locked it immediately. She had heard that the repairman was here in her absence. She was concerned he might have tried to violate me but I assured her he didn't. Nevertheless new mom called the company and warned them not to do that again.

We ordered Italian food and talked about how boring it was at work. She was about to eat the Tiramisu when she got an emergency call saying a dangerous convict escaped during prison transportation. She swore like a sailor and left. I cleaned up after and fell asleep on the couch.

I woke up to screams and I thought that Hannah left her son alone to go chat with Gaby again. I quickly got on my wheelchair and looked out the window to see a man flailing near the window. I called 911 and the paramedic arrived within a few minutes. The others were annoyed that they called the police. A uniform police officer walked out with his gun drawn and he left when he assured that it will be handled. The man finally calmed down and one of the paramedics Walker came knocking. I gave him something for the road. The new addition followed him. Walker introduced us through the other side of the door. I said hi and wished him well and slipped a Kit Kat through the mail slot. He said something but I couldn't hear it because my pulse was thundering in my ears. Walker seemed to understand what was happening so he waited till I calmed down. He asked me if I needed anything I shouldn't hesitate to call him. Walker even explained to screamer that I was the one who called him, while everyone called the police. He gave me a sad smile and asked if he could come in. I told him that it is late and I was exhausted. He smiled and promised to be here first thing in the morning to talk to his new friend. I heard footfalls so I assumed he left so I braced myself and opened the door to drop my mail and the empty bottles. It was Walker who left but the screamer was still on my porch. His expression went from happy and teasing to sad instantly. He gave me an understanding look and walked back to his house. He was tall, like 6ft 4inches at least. He had light brown hair and brilliant blue eyes. He looked like he was a carved statue. Even his stride held purpose. He turned to take one last look at me before he closed the door.

The next morning he arrived with croissants and refused to leave till I let him in. I tried to explain that I needed to trust him before he can come in. He promised to earn it soon. He asked me why we haven't met. He has been living here for the past six months. I told him I am Agoraphobic which I have a crippling fear of leaving the house. He asked a lot of questions but I finally told him I was exhausted. He didn't buy it so I explained why. What really happened was Mrs. Brewster was heading here and that woman drives me insane. He had a really bad incident with her as well so he racked his brain trying to figure out how to get out of this mess. She walked in pretending like she needed sugar and I reminded her of the day I emptied an entire fire extinguisher on her. He laughed at the image and actually congratulated me on my brilliance. She stomped off without a word and he asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. I reminded him I am Agoraphobic. He wished me luck on fixing my problem as his friends arrived to take him to the beach
