Chapter One Hundred and Seventy Four

Max POV

I texted my father to wait for at home that I want to discuss something with him. Am really afraid that Ella will stop talking to me or start seeing me as someone that do not value her opinion. If I marry her tomorrow, I will do so because she accept to be with be not because her father force it on her. I don't just want marriage I also want the lady that am going to marry to love me. Am totally disappointed at my father when I saw him on the stage with Ella's father, if he heard something about our supposed relationship I think the best thing he could have done is to ask me.

I arrived at my parents mansion, I saw my mother who was surprise to see me cause I forget to tell her that am coming, this is not my normal visit. Max dear you did not care to inform this old woman that you are coming so that I can prepare something for you, My mother queried me. Sorry Mum I was not planning to come but something unexpected happened that brought me here, I told her. My mother raised her one of her eyebrow and looked intently at me.

Oh my God this is not good one bit, whatever is going on in that mind of hers is not good at all, I mused. Max Cobb's, She called me. There she goes with the full name I know this is not good. Don't tell me you got a girl pregnant without getting married to her or one of your numerous women run away with a very important document of yours? My mother asked.

Jeez so this is what is going on in her mind. No Mum none of this happened, you know what come with me to see Dad cause he is the one I want to discuss something with and you can also hear my reason for coming, I told her and hold her hands while we headed to my father study where I know he will be at this time.We arrived at my father study and he is there drinking whiskey, I guess he is in celebratory mood and I hate to cut it short for him but I have to.

Hi Dad, I greeted. Hi son, I know you are surprised by today's event and am also mad at you for not telling me that you are now in a serious relationship and with Jerry Williams daughter for that matter though I don't care where the lady will come from, so long you love her and she love you as well, My father said smiling. Wait Max you are in a serious relationship and you did not care to tell me your mother? My mother asked clearly not pleased with what she heard. When am I going to meet this girl that change your womanizing lifestyle? Tell me so that I can inform your sisters so they too will meet this angel that transform you, My mother continue asking, she is no longer angry I guess the thought of having a daughter in-law soon clouded her anger.

That's where you made a mistake Dad and No Mum am not in any serious relationship, just that I like Ella and want to want to have something serious going on with her but she turned me down cause of my reputation, am doing everything possible to convince her that am a change man, now today happened, I explained to them saying the last part almost in a whisper cause whenever I remember what transpired today I will suddenly lose my strength. What do you mean son but that's not what I heard? My father asked me with shock written all over his face and I guess the gravity of his action today is now sinking down.

I don't understand what is going on, so tell me Max what did your father do today? My mother asked. Dad collaborate with Jerry Williams and announced my engagement to Jerry's daughter without telling me about it, I told my mother. If eyes are dagger am sure my father will already be dead by now, cause her eyes are blazing right now while staring at my father. Why would you do that? Even if you heard something about the two, don't you think the proper thing to do is to ask your son if what you heard is true, My mother reprimanded my father like a child.

Listen son am sorry for what I did today just that am so happy when Jerry approached me and told me about your supposed relationship, since he is the father of the girl I never doubted him, he was the one that proposed that we announced the engagement today cause you seem to be having a hard time doing that and his daughter is already complaining, considering your history with woman I agree to his suggestion cause I don't want to miss my only opportunity of having grand children, My father explained looking so remorseful.

That's okay Dad just that next time somebody will tell you something like that, you should ask me and not go behind me and start making plans without telling me, I said to him. So what about the girl, what's her reaction when she heard the announcement? My mother asked, I guess she is more concern about Ella. She was devastated when she heard the announcement, almost crying, I think this is not the first time her father did this to her, I think her father trying to control her life is the reason she is not staying with her father, I told them. Is she mad at you because of what happened today? My mother asked.

Mum it seemed like you are more concern about Ella than anyone else, I teased her. Yes from what you said she seem to me as a reasonable girl and I can't wait for her to be my daughter in-law, just work hard okay so that when next you visit you will come with her as your girlfriend, My mother told me and patted my head but turned towards my father and glared at him I guess she is still mad at him. What are we going to do now? My father asked. I will work it on my own just cancel that engagement or whatever plan you have with Mr Williams, I told my father to which he nodded in agreement.
