My bodyguard husband

Jema Malteng was the first child of a famous business tycoon. She was the next in line successor of his vast business empire. She had always believed for years that she would assume position of chief executive officer once her father stepped down, seeing that he had no male child. Her father however, gave her a condition which she must fulfill if she wanted to reach that mantle, she must get married in six months after reading his will or risk the company being handed over to her step sister . She was distraught on hearing the news because she had no man in her life and neither did she ever plan to. She looked for a quick means of fulfilling his wish and resorted to a contract marriage with a man who crashed into her car the day she was returning from the will reading. It seemed like the most viable solution, seeing that it was in trend but little did she know that her newly contracted husband had secrets of his own. He lunged her into a world of danger and paranoia, adding to the one she already led. They uncovered many underlying plots against them as they continued with the marriage and along the line, began to develop feelings for each other as well. "Miss, are you sure you are willing to put up with my fast paced life,it can get a little risky as we ride on", he said and leaned in into the seat, hands crossed believing that she would change her mind. She looked at him with absolutely no doubt in her mind. " I don't care, you are a body guard aren't you,I'll be fine as long as you're with me",she stated in an as a matter of fact tone, handing him the pen. He shook his head and grinned at her confidence. He collected the pen and signed, but as he did so,he looked at her. "Welcome to hell Miss Malteng", he said rolling the pen to her across the table.

Fortunate Accident.

Jema walks out of the ward and darted out of the hospital building quite annoyed by her father's inconsiderate appeal.

She headed to her car and drove out of the hospital's parking lot lost in thought. She had always told her father that she would survive on her own, without a man in her life. All the men she had known in her life were double crossers and players who only wanted to be with her out of benefit.

None of them really loved or cared about her, they all swindled her money and emotions and disappeared as they came.

She then created a barrier around her heart and vowed to herself that she would never fall in love again, only for that vow to be threatened by her father's ridiculous proposition.

She didn't want to be bound to any man, mentally and emotionally. She liked her life being simple and stress free.

She drove slowly this time, slightly below the speed limits as she pondered on what to so that all her hard work over the years won't be handed to another person, and not when that person was her arrogant step sister,Carly.

She couldn't bear the thought of that ever happening. She had to ensure that never happens even if it meant putting up with a man for the rest of her life.

She drove towards the turn that lead to the street to her office complex. She still drove carefully in thought and was about to make the sharp turn when she saw a car heading towards her in full speed.

Her eyes widened upon realising that they were going to collide. The driver of the car saw her up ahead and swerved the car, quickly hit the brakes.

It was too late however,as the back of his car crashed violently into the side of her car, shattering the side glass and windscreen. Luckily, it wasn't the driver's side and her airbag inflated upon the barest impact.

The reckless driver got down from his dented car,his hands holding a phone up to his ears. He spoke to someone over the phone.

Jema who was flung roughly towards the car door upon collision then laid, face against the airbag. Her mind blacked out for a minute as she thought she was dead.

After a few seconds, she slowly lifted her head, her heart pumping its life out. She couldn't believe that she was okay. She felt a little dizzy though but was glad that she was alive as she checked her hands for cuts and felt her head as well, still no cut. It was a miracle.

The man walked towards the side of her car but couldn't see anything through her tainted glasses. He knocked on the door, not sure if the person inside was conscious or not.

Jema slowly turned to look at the person knocking. She saw a man wearing a grey suit looking into the car concerned.

She took in deep breaths to try to calm her nerves and reeling head before making for the door handle.

The man who now stood a distance away, placing another call paused when he saw someone get down from the car.

Jema placed a feet on the ground, trying to gain balance, before placing the other one to get out of the car in her heels. She held the door tightly using it as a support but he leg gave way.

She was expecting to land on the tarred ground but felt a hand around her waist supporting her instead. She turned to look at the person supporting her.

The person who almost murdered her was standing beside her, helping her get on her feet. He was a solidly built man with a cold but handsome face. He had a neatly done raven black hair which was fixed backwards and a broad shoulders.

He had a beautiful jawline that gave him a dreamy look. Jema stood caught up in staring at his features for a while, only to be brought back to reality when he cleared his throat.

She batted her lashes at him before she regained her composure and stood up straight. She muttered a quick thank you to the him, annoyed at herself for ogling at the man like a horny teenager.

The man had almost killed her after all. She shook her head softly before turning to face the man, hands on her hips. She expected him to apologize but he just stood there, staring at her.

She raises her brow at him.

"Aren't you going to say anything",she asked upset about his unfazed demeanour.

He cocked his head slightly to the side, narrowing his eyes at her before relaxing them.

" Uhm...You're welcome",he said in his deep cello like voice not quite sure of what she meant.

She then furrowed her brows annoyed by his statement.

"I'm welcome?, for what, you were the one that caused the accident", she said getting to the end of herself in putting up with his lackadaisical behaviour.

He scoffed at her before chuckling deeply at her.

" I did, huh, weren't you the one driving overly below speed limits,I mean if you had been a little faster,I won't be talking to you right now",he stated causing her to gape at him in disbelief.

She had never met such a cocky man in her entire life. She let out a puff ignoring his comment and walked over to the area of collision instead.

She covered her mouth with her hands, estimating the expense of fixing the car. Its repair was going to cost a fortune as it was the first of its model.

She face palmed herself, shaking her head.

"I knew I should have gone for the other model", she said to herself.

The man walked over quietly and observed the car.

" Hmm,this was battered up pretty bad",he commented causing her to sharply face him, giving him a death glare.

He looked at his two sides before looking back at her.

"What?", he asked seeing that the glare was directed to him.

" What?, What you say,you are going to fix my car, that's what",she said causing him to slowly laugh again.

She frowned at his reaction.

"And what's so funny?", she asked starting to detest the man.

He pointed at the car.

" You said I should fix that, that's what",he said using her statement against her.

"You think this is funny, huh, well wait till I call the police, that's going to be very funny",she said and pressed a button on her smart watch.

He stilled on hearing the police, raising up both his hands as in surrender.

" Okay, I get it,you don't take a joke, geez",he said making her to cut the call.

She looked at him, studying whether he was joking or not. She nodded on seeing his face return to its earlier stoic state.

"I don't know how much it costs to fix the car,but I know how much it costs and it spells expensive", she said and gauged his reaction.

He shrugged his shoulder on hearing her speak.

" Okay,it can't be that bad right ",he said causing her to look at him again. He smirked when she did.

Just then a toll truck arrived and packed right in front of Jema's car. The truckdriver got down and approached the man.

" Lionel,I got a call from HQ that you needed me,what did you do this time",he said before noticing that he wasn't alone.

He looked at Jema and gave a slight bow.

"Miss Malteng,I'm so sorry,I didn't see you there", the man said apologizing.

Jema raised her chin and gave him a nod. She had never met him in her life but at least he was better mannered than his friend.

" I would be taking your car to the auto repair shop to get it fixed,if you don't mind",he said respectfully.

She shifted her head back a bit in astonishment before turning to look at the man beside her.

"But I need to get back to work, how do I get to my office", she asked him,not with much hope of being offered a solution.

The man looked at her like he was fed up. He pressed his temples with his fingers, slightly shaking his head.

" You were just involved in an accident, the only rational thing to do is to go home",he said in a low tone.

Jema stood her ground adamantly, ready to argue.

"I have to get to my office, I have a truckload of work to do", she replied firmly.

He walked closer to her until they were just inches apart. She felt like he was trying to intimidate her as Hus gaze bore into hers.

" You are going home",he said calm and monotonous making her assume that he was trying to hypnotize her.

"And I said No", she said still maintaining her resolve.

The truck driver cleared his throat to separate the two that looked like they were in a staring contest.

" Ahem...Uhm,Miss,here's your bag",he said stretching her bag to her only for it to be snatched by the other man.

"Wanna play stubborn huh", he said with a mischievous smile," okay, come on,let me drop you off at your office".

Jema squinted her eyes in scrutinizing assessment.

"Do you know where I work?", despite expecting a positive reply, everyone knew where she worked.

" Nope, you'll direct me or better yet,I'll find it myself ",he said and pulled out his phone from his pocket. Jema couldn't believe what he said,he didn't know her office complex, it was a bold towered with the words acacia boldly placed at the top.

" Let's go,we don't have all day",he said, urging her to make a move.

She turned to look at the truckdriver who looked away as soon as he saw her turn. He continued to drag the chain which he intended to attach to the car.

She couldn't believe that she was actually trusting a total stranger right now. She knew that she was literally placing her life in the hands of mercy, but it was either that or take a public transport. She had never used one in her life and neither did she want to make the headline news the next day so she sighed in resignation.

She looked back at the man who put her in thus situation before her gaze shifted to his car.

She had failed to take cognisance of it but his car had nothing as much as a dent, just few scratches. He trailed her line of sight and grinned with pride.

"Pretty cool isn't it,I call her vixen, isn't she a beauty", he remarked causing her to blink.

She didn't know what to reply to his comment so she completely ignored him and walked past him to the side of his door.

She stood there, flicking her hair and expecting him to come open up the door for her.

He walked past her, heading to the driver's side of his car, opened the car and got in ,but she stood there still refusing to enter the car.

He muttered something inconceivable under his breath upon seeing they she was adamant. He then pressed a button by his side and the door opened.

She rolled her eyes and got into the car. The car closed automatically as she strapped herself in.

The man strapped himself in as well and switched on his car ignition. The car roared to life softly and they headed towards the main road.

They were lucky that the road of the collision wasn't one frequently used or else they might have been in a more sticky situation.

Jema heaved a sigh as she settled into the seat but she settled all too soon. She heard a click reverberate through the car and then she realized he locked her in.

"What's going on?", she asked suddenly becoming alarmed.

He ignored her question and continued to drive his face stoic as earlier.
