A Speculation Turns Big

A beautiful couple walked in the hallway whilst holding hands. This couple was none other than Jang Sik and his wife. They were making it to their kid's room which had been occupied by us the previous night.

But as they drew closer to the door, Jang Sik's wife started to have second thoughts.

"Honey, I don't think that it would be appropriate for us to see them right now. Let's just wait for them to come out. If something happened, we would tell at a glance", she advised.

Jang Sik, who was also quite uncertain about the situation and felt weird with his current mission, seconded his wife. He said to her: "You do have a point. Alright, let's go with that."

The two returned back to their room to spend more time with their kids who had changed overnight.

Honestly, it was a good thing that they didn't enter or knock on the door as finally, my body began to awaken after such a long and busy night. I could feel my limbs elongating as I stretched them wide. But then, my hand touched a human's face.

"Is someone sleeping by my side?" I wondered. And then felt something strange. "Why is this face so hairy?" I asked myself.

Out of curiosity, I forced my eyes open and saw… a… a… a DOG sleeping next to me.

"Aaargh!!!" I shouted aloud.

"Where am I?" I began to wonder. "And where is Jin Ho?" The questions kept popping up.

In Jang Sik's house, his mom was busily preparing the usual breakfast after a heavy drinking night.

Jang Sik went to his mom in the kitchen and was greeted by the scent of the perfect breakfast after an alcoholic night.

"Mother, what are you preparing?" He asked whilst rubbing his hand around his slightly protruded stomach.

"Can't you tell? Beans sprout soup. Since all of you drank to the fullest, you need to get over your hangovers", she replied.

"Thanks mom. You are so considerate", Jang Sik mentioned as he went behind the old woman and wrapped his hands around her stomach, giving her a warm embrace from behind.

"Let go before you become the next dish", she warned but then a loud voice exclaimed, "Mother!"

"Who is so loud in the morning?" Jang Sik's mother wondered but soon got the answer as she saw her daughter walk into the kitchen with her hair messed up, her face looking so appalling and her slippers mixed up.

"What are you doing here? Isn't your husband waiting for you at home?" The old woman asked her daughter. In reply, she said: "I didn't go home and thanks to that I feel reborn, rejuvenated, and re-energized."

"You look more like a re-drunk individual", Jang Sik stated the truth.

"Hey, come on", his sister fought back and the two would have started a fight if not for the next intruders.

"Grandma!" Two cute little voices called out as they ran and replaced their dar by hugging the old woman.

"Kids, how are you doing?" She asked and they said beautifully in unison: "We are doing great grandma."

Jang Sik's mother looked at her son in awe and asked, "Did they just speak formally to me?" The continuous nod from Jang Sik confirmed what she just heard.

Appearing from behind, his wife added: "Ever since last night, they have been good kids."

Upon hearing that statement, the two kids approached their parents and said with conviction, "Mom, dad, we are sorry for the pain we caused you. From now onwards, we will be good kids."

Astonished by their action, Jang Sik's sister began to cry as she said to herself: "Did I just hear that? How I wish my kids would say that to me one day."

Grandma with the assistance of her daughter and daughter-in-law served the entire family which was quite large, the perfect breakfast. The table was full and yet, Jang Sik's grandma remembered those who were absent.

"Looks like everyone's up except those two city guys. Where are they?" She asked. Everyone except Jang Sik and his wife looked around and realized that the old woman was right.

"Do you mean Amy and Jin Ho?" Jang Sik asked in verification. His mom replied saying, "Yes. The food is ready and I think they will also need some hangover soup."

"Should I call them?" His sister opted but Jang Sik promptly said, "No, don't. I will get them."

With the way he looked nervous, everyone began to feel suspicious and his mom asked him, "Is there a problem?"

"Hahahaha!" He gave out a super awkward laugh before asking, "What problem? Why would there be a problem? I will get them downstairs right away."

He got up from his seat and slowly walked out of the dining room. Once he was out, he held his chest as he took in a deep breath. He then walked up the stairs. However, after drawing very far away from the others, he ran with great speed upstairs. And upon reaching his kid's room, started knocking on the door.

"Jin Ho! Amy! It's me, Jang Sik! Open up!" He said but heard no response.

"Why aren't they responding?" He wondered and then his eyes widened. Having wild imaginations in his mind, he asked himself: "Perhaps are they bathing? Don't tell me…" he said and covered his mouth in shock.

Nevertheless, his shock turned to fear as he heard someone ask, "Don't tell me what?" The voice asked.

Jang Sik jumped back and nearly hit his head against the door. "Oh my gosh! You scared me! Why were you eavesdropping on my conversation?" He asked his sister. She was the voice who just overheard him.

"Who were you talking to?" She asked her brother and all he could say was: "Soliloquy. Talking to oneself. Can't I do that?"

Shaking her head in disbelief, she asked: "Are you acting in a drama?"

He cleared his throat and that's when she realized that he was standing before his kid's room.

"Why are you here?" She asked her brother.

Trying to seem tough, he asked, "What do you mean by why? Mother asked me to call Jin Ho and Amy, forgotten?"

With a calm mind, his sister replied: "I remember. But why are you in front of this room?" She asked and he had no response. She began to use her sixth sense to examine him.

Starting towards him, she made her analysis. "Your forehead is crampled, your pupils are larger, your hair is somehow upright, your legs are wobbly and you keep swallowing your spit. Putting all of these together, I think I have the right to ask this. Perhaps, are the two in the kid's room?" She arrived at the right destination.

With his lips trembling, he asked: "Who says they are there?"

"Then why were you calling their names here?" His sister questioned him like a professional detective. At least due to her husband's behavior, she had naturally developed these skills.

Sweating profusely despite the weather being a little cold, Jang Sik stammered, saying: "That's… that's…"

"Don't tell me…", she was making a guess but once her brother's eyes widened in fear, the confirmation was no longer needed.

She grabbed her brother's hair whilst exclaiming: "You pervert! Did you allow them to share a room together after they had taken some drinks? What if something happened? Would you take responsibility?" She asked as she kept pulling his hair.

"Sis, please stop. You know that it took me twenty five years to grow these. Do you want me to be hairless my entire life?" He asked but she wouldn't stop.

At least, he had to endure the pain until another voice asked: "What responsibility are you talking about?"

The two stopped the fight immediately and raised their heads to see who it was.

"Mother?" They asked in unison with fear painted on their skin. At this point, they knew for sure that they were near their graves.

But Jang Sik's sister responded quickly. "Responsibility? Did I say responsibility?" She laughed out and hit her brother in the process. He got her signal and also started laughing alongside.

Their mom looked at them without blinking and though she had not spoken a word, their laughter was cut short.

"Yes you did. And you said it with real seriousness", their mom said after their display.

Looking straight into their eyes, she asked, "Why, where are they? Where is Amy and Jin Ho?"

Whenever she asked a question with emphasis, she was being serious. And the two kids of hers knew that it would be hard to conceal the truth at this point.

Nevertheless, the truth was hard to tell so all they could do was shiver like penguins in the winter.

"Why are you two trembling?" She asked them.

"Trembling? Mother, what are you talking about? It's the weather", Jang Sik went for the lie the time around.

"Yes, the weather. The weather is extremely cold", his sister agreed.

"Extremely cold!" Jang Sik emphasized before asking his mother, "Aren't you cold?"

"Mother, let's get you a warm coat", his sister suggested and quickly linked arms with the old woman. Jang Sik also joined them as he pushed for it. "Let's go", he added.

The two had nearly forced their mom to make two steps before the wise old woman said: "Stop!"

Looking at them, she added, "I'm not a fool. The both of you were standing before the kid's room and were acting all nervous. Perhaps, did Amy and Jin Ho share this room together?"

That statement nearly divided their hearts into extra compartments. Jang Sik knew that he had to give in at this point. So without wasting much time, he got on his knees and said, "Mother, it's not what you think. They weren't going to share it together, it's just that the kids wanted to sleep with us so…"

"So you allowed the two to spend the night together?" She asked with a lot of anger fueled in her. "Would you take responsibility in case anything happened between them?" She added.

"But they are adults. Why should I take responsibility for their actions?" Jang Sik asked and his sister kicked him in the leg.

"Because you are the reason for the action", his mom replied. She then told them, "Enough, open the door."

"But mother, what if we are invading their privacy?" Her daughter tried to prevent the worst from happening.

"Open the door now!" The old woman ordered. And she was not taking no for an answer.

"Yes mother", her daughter replied and asked Jang Sik for the keys. He handed it over helplessly and looked elsewhere as his mother told his sister: "Open it quickly."

The door unlocked and the old woman grabbed the knob. She was about to turn it open when Jang Sik hugged her from behind and pleaded with her. "Mother, please don't open the door."

"Let go of me", she said and pushed him aside. Without listening to them, she opened the door and stepped inside. Once she did, she was shocked to see a naked…
