Chapter 11: Steady, Heart
Samantha helped steady Holly back onto her feet without taking her eyes off of the young woman, who sneered at her. A growing anger began to rise in her, which Samantha saw contorting her face and giving her a somewhat constipated look. She might have laughed in any other circumstance.
“Who are you?” she sneered down at Samantha.
“I’m just one of the waiters helping out tonight. As my friend said, she didn’t mean any harm, and it was clearly an accident. Can you let this go just this once?” Samantha tried reasoning with the woman; yet, as she spoke, she already had a feeling Holly wasn’t going to be let off so easily.
“Are you kidding me? This dress is designer!”
Hardly, Samantha thought. She noted the expensive look of the dress, sure, but the wine stain that quickly served to spoil the fabric of the dress proved that, although it might be expensive, it was hardly of any good quality make.
